Robin Van Persie is rated as doubtful for Holland’s friendly with England this evening after failing to complete training yesterday. The Arsenal skipper felt some discomfort in his groin towards the end of the session and was withdrawn as a precautionary measure.

Van Persie is thought to have initially picked up the problem in the 5-2 win over Spurs on Sunday but, while some reports claim Arsenal were aware of the knock and considered it to be minor, others claim the Gunners were oblivious to any problem.

The player will undergo a fitness test this morning ahead of the clash and it seems if there is any doubt, Van Persie is unlikely to feature. Arsene Wenger has been keen to ensure his captain doesn’t over-exert himself on international duty and the Dutch FA will be unlikely to ire Wenger by fielding Van Persie if the player is at risk.

Dutch boss Bert van Marwijk put a positive spin on the situation, though, claiming Van Persie sat out the rest of training as nothing more than a precautionary measure. Van Marwijk is certainly confident the Arsenal star will feature at Wembley, saying:

We do not take risks with Robin. I did it so that he can play on Wednesday. We will have to wait and see but I don’t think it’s too serious. I am optimistic he will play.

Obviously, any absence on the domestic front would have a major effect on our Fantasy thinking but for now, Van Marwijk’s words should put us at ease. Tonight’s lineup at Wembley will be eagerly anticipated, then.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Does anyone know if Dempsey is likely to be pushed up front with their new signing coming in at midfield?

No, Diarra is a holding midfielder. Dempsey is a strange one, bought in becasue he was OOP, but now he is back in midfield and worth 9. His fixtures are too good to get rid of him but im not expecting much.

Yeah I had heard rumour that Dempsey might play in the hole behind the front two with Diarra (couldn't remember his name) coming in.

I'm not getting rid of Dempsey but I'm trying to get more Man U coverage as only have Valencia. Downgrading Silva and Bale....eeek.....seems to be the only way but Bale has earned me a lot of money 🙂

Seems a lot of peple thinking of getting shot of Bale.

Still don't understand why we can't get full price of player when selling him rather than only getting half the difference. :s

One player does not make a big difference. If he does nothing, then I will have other 10 players to score huge. I will not captain him after all. I even feel good for that, it is simply a gamble. i can lose just.... few points. Yes, Bale can score huge in GW28, but I doubt it.

                  cheers.

I wish you good luck with it.

My problem stems from having a slender 30 point lead in my league and knowing that I have to find that big score for some breathing space.

I think it's to discourage price speculation, it's bad enough already with the current rate of price changes, that would make it worse. Also means it's harder to change your mind on someone when you've profited from them.

If its a tax, why don't we get a credit when we sell at a loss - so only lose half of the price drop.

Ha you know taxes only punish, they never help 😉 That is an idea. I would think it's hardly worth setting up a game so people are more scared of their players falling in price than getting points.

I had hinm also, but he has been keeping the striker spot warm for BA (when he returned from ACON). And yes, your mid is way to expensive. Folks here have either one cheap mid (as first sub, I have it like that), or two cheaps, who rotate well (will have it like that after GW32). But 5 huge guns in mid do not give you anu freedom and space, you must play them always! And what if studge will have easy home game? whom would you bench from your mid?

I'm prob going to leave my team for this week and get 2 FT next week, which will help.

My policy of only using FT's has served me well as I made the mistake last season (my first) of chasing the point scorers by transferring willy nilly.

In other countries the captaincy is given to the player in the first XI who has the most capsh

it really should be that shimple.

The FA are clowns, i read yesterday that they havent approached anyone about the new england managers job! even if it is off the record they need to shpeak to Harry so if he cant/wont take role then they can look elshewhere.

In ingerland, it's big, but that's why Scotty is perfect. Experienced but not in the cliques. Gives a great speach, leads by example, looks like a gent and isn't interested in power grabs.

In eg: Italy, it's a pretty ceremonial role - here it's more like chosing your "no.1 General" like you're Cesar or Napoleon or somesuch.

Hmmmm, Nani or Valencia?? I think I'd much rather have Nani, but the value saved with Valencia essentially makes the decision this - which is better? [This is from GW28 onwards]....

    a) Mignolet, Simpson, Pilkington, Valencia, 0.3m in the bank, or
    b) Bogdan, Kelly, Surman, Nani

    Schwarzer, XXX
    Skrtel, Enrique, JEvans, Caulker, XXX
XXX, Dempsey, Walcott (my gamble), XXX, Moses

Never realised Fulham signed Mahamadou Diarra. He was a quality player at Madrid and Lyon before that. Could be a clever signing from Jol.

I really enjoyed Euro 2008. Maybe that's cos i'm Scottish and England weren't there. 2 weeks in Tenerife with my mates watching back to back games, getting bevvied and looking for strippers and cocaine. The standard of football was really good. That was back when Arshavin gave a toss about football.

          Again....agreed. What a shocker!

So disappointed with the final, Holland in particular. With the players they had they should have played football instead of trying to batter Spain!

Yeah Holland just kicked anything that moved. From a nation who knows what playing sexy football is all about it was a sad day watching them resort to those tactics. Losing to Spain is no disgrace but they could have made it a final to remember and made a go of it. Bad times.

Both teams will now get more chances. An unsuprisingly talented Holland side, they blinked when given the chance to right "40 years of hurt". Not a coherent team like the 70's or the Spanish one.

The taste for winning will spur them on to better things. A Holland team truly working as a team is a dream Spain usurped.
