The January wildcard meant many managers ended up with very similar teams, but with injury doubts, tougher fixtures and the promise of double Gameweek profits, we’re starting to see those broken up and a host of new names being thrown about. With just 12 weeks to go, if you’re going to make a move on your mini league leader then it’s probably now or never; playing safe simply isn’t an option any more…..

Peter Odemwingie

As the hottest player in the FPL game over the last two weeks Peter Odemwingie is hardly an undiscovered talent, but with an ownership of only 3.5% the Nigerian International still very much falls into the ‘Differential’ category. An early season knee injury and subsequent fallout with manager Roy Hodgson saw Odemwingie increasingly marginalised in the West Brom setup, but that all seems to be behind him now; he looks like a new player recently and his confidence is overflowing.

West Brom are on fire at the moment; their 4-0 thrashing of in-form Sunderland followed a completely dominant victory over Wolves a week earlier, and Peter Odemwingie has been at his clinical best. Five goals and 30 points over the last two Gameweeks may flatter the Nigerian slightly, but it was no fluke either. Odemwingie has simply relished his new role on the right-flank, enabling him to cut in and threaten opponents – something he’s done more effectively than any other striker over the past two Gameweeks.

Pavel Pogrebnyak

In stark comparison to last year when injuries meant they were often forced to play without a recognised striker, Fulham fielded five at once at QPR last weekend; Moussa Dembele, Clint Dempsey, Bryan Ruiz, Andy Johnson and Pavel Pogrebnyak all started with the latter two playing in the formal striker roles. Andy Johnson offers an interesting option priced at just 4.7 in the FPL game, but it is new signing Pogrebnyak that most caught the eye last weekend and priced at 6.0 and with an ownership of 0.4%, the Russian could be a great third striker option. He recently admitted that he has found the frantic pace of the Premier League exhausting, but that hasn’t seemed to have stopped him banging in the goals so far.

Fixtures continue to fall Fulham’s way over the coming weeks, with home games against Wolves, Swansea and Norwich in the next five and having some representation from the Fulham attack looks almost essential right now. Clint Dempsey has been one of the most popular picks in recent weeks and still offers a strong threat, despite being relegated to a wide midfield role but at 9.2, many will be questioning the value considering the wealth of alternatives in midfield. Pogrebnyak offers an interesting “Differential” then, and if he can keep his starting role up front then he would be a much better value route into the Fulham attack.

Ryan Shotton

We’re always on the lookout for potential “Out Of Position”(OOP) defenders, and have been keeping a close eye on the progress of Ryan Shotton at Stoke, with Tony Pulis seemingly preferring the local youngster to Jermaine Pennant on the right flank. Now that he has shaken off the injury problems that were causing him problems last month, Shotton looks set for a continued run of starts in the team and with Pulis suggesting this week that playing in midfield is “very much a long term option for him”, we’re backing him to bring in the points this weekend.

With a home tie against Norwich up next, Shotton looks like great value at 4.0 considering his potential at both ends of the pitch. He had a great game against Swansea last weekend picking up an assist and a clean sheet, and although Norwich have a pretty good record on the road this season, they will find it hard to break down a full strength Stoke side and another home shut out looks a real possibility.

It is indeed, but i'm missing it. This whole actually working Monday - Friday is denting my FF time.

Things arent the best. The administrators have said we need to save 1m a month to stay afloat. The chat is there will be redundancies to the 1st team and huge pay cuts, mccoist has said he will manage for free supposidly a first team player said he will follow suit which is admirable but alll in all bleak times.

Fair play to McCoist and the unnamed player. It really isn't their fault though, they shouldn't have to suffer for the mismanagement and neglect that went on there. You're too big a club to go anywhere though... I hope.

Exactly its unfair for the current squad to be subjected to this. I just hope we can stay afloat. theres too much history there, most decorated club in world football.

Yep. It's generic as fook though:

              Krul
              Kompany Kelly Caulker
              Silva Dempsey Bale Sess
              Aguero Ba RVP
              Subs: Migs, Moses, Senderos, Skrtel

Carrying a free over into next week so i can have 2. Severely tempted by Suarez for the DGW but its him or Rooney or both for a 4 point hit (with Ba out). I am flummaxed on that one...

I really don't like the look of any Everton players (the ugly bastards), however I am tempted to get Adam and Skrtel (Squirtle) from pool. However, I would need to take a 4 point hit in order to do this move, is it worth it do you think?

Senderos might not play, and Wolves have a fair amount of goal threat, but on the other hand, i'd definitely back newcastle to score at home, so doubling up may be a better idea

Right, guys, finally decided on my line up for the GW, anyone in agreement?

    Vorm
    Kelly, Kompany, Santon
    Sess, Bale, Silva, Dempsey (v)
    Aguero (c), RVP, Ba

    Subs; Mignolet: McClean: Enrique, BAE

If kelly doesn't play or Bale Guess i've got decent back up, think RVP will play. All look ok? Help much appreciated 🙂

I've only got 5, but these are the 11 players predicted to score highest this week. They won't of course, but we had the best Fantasy Football minds in the business deliberating over these picks.

Or just a bunch of blokes with too much free time on their hands, you decide 😉

Wouldn't bank on a clean sheet from QPR, or from Newcastle, I reckon MON will want a response after the drubbing by West Brom, I can see Sunderland scoring, McClean could be involved - better prospect than Taiwo

Thanks. Taiwo's likely to be sold after this week so I kind of want to play him in case he picks up some decent points for a change but I'm being silly. McClean first sub is the way to go. Will probably sub in with Bale doubtful.

If it's Taiwo ahead of McClean... no, McClean is a beast on the left wing.

But I would say Taiwo is a better prospect than many other defenders this week with Everton's low scoring record, playing at home to them, and 2 assists in 4 games.

I am almost decided to play him ahead of Santon and Evans.

My starting 3 defenders are Raylor, Richards and Shotton.

I can't drop Raylor or Richards for Taiwo. So that leaves the decision between Shotton and Taiwo.

I'd have to agree with you there and go with Shotton for this week at least with their fixture, being at home, and OOP. Long term I don't know about Shotton, Pulis has this knack of dropping everyone at some point in the season and he has done it to him before.

Looks like that's your team sorted then!

Yeah, I originally had Taiwo in my team for this week but decided earlier to switch to Shotton. The 2 Ryan's being OOP means I can play 1-6-3.

In theory, and that's really attractive... still that's the other thing with OOPs, the doubt over them playing. You may well have seen the OOP team someone suggested during the January WC... something like

              Richards Clark Raylor Shotton Santon
              Sess Walters Dempsey Bale Nani

              WOW!

I advised you to play Taiwo last weekend.

This week I am also playing Taiwo ahead of Evans and Santon.

Make of that what you will.........

Although my logic is only 1 goal conceded with 10men for 60mins, plus having good attacking threat with 11 players isn't horrendous to look against. Take my advice with severe health warning.

I remember your advice 1Mills and I stuck with my gut and played him.

You know, it's a bit stupid but even though I didn't get the CS from Taiwo he won me my H2H by 1pt - I would have had Santon playing otherwise.

I've been out of touch with the games over the last couple of weeks, so any suggestions welcome.

I have 2 free transfers with nothing in the bank.

I assume the that transferring out Sorenson might be a starting point since last GW I didn't have a playing keeper.

    Vorm (Sorenson)
    Richards Evans Simpson (Taiwo Rangel)
    Silva Dempsey Bale Sessegnon (Dyer)
    Aguero (c) Ba RvP (v)

Shame you don't have enough to just do Richards -> Kompany. I'd give Sorenson another week - if he doesn't start this week then yeah he needs to go soon. Schwarzer or Migs probably.

I'd probably just hope that Richards plays this week and do Sess -> Mclean, Pilks or Siggy to raise funds, then have 2 next week to do Richards & Aguero -> A Liverpool defender and Rooney/Suarez

I was in the same situation. Sorenson has been dropped for Begovic and doesn't look like returning anytime soon, thank you Tony Pulis. That said Vorm is gonna play because he was only out with flu. Swansea are away to a low scoring Wigan team. Hyperion looked at the probable formations and concluded Swansea were going to dominate them in midfield, with scope for the fullbacks to get some crosses in too. You might want to play Rangel over Evans. I wouldn't play Simpson home to this Sunderland side... maybe Taiwo over him.

I actually think Lescott could be a really good captain. But I just hate the fact that all it takes is a single mistake in defence and it's ruined. It's terrible then watching and hoping that he gets on the scoresheet.

In your case then it will probably be more fun to go Dempsey.

I reckon they'll all play tbh, Sess is the only one that could start on the bench.

RVP and Bale don't have anything serious and are in must win games, so will play.
