Gameweek 28 enters it’s second day of action, which sees the top two sides in the country play simultaneously before the televised Norwich City versus Wigan Athletic game. Despite no TV coverage for either of the Manchester clubs’ games (in this country at least), the Dugout Discussion opens nonetheless to follow the events at the top.

The teams sheets from both our 2pm games are in and, starting at Old Trafford, are as follows…

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Young, Carrick, Scholes, Welbeck, Rooney, Hernandez.

West Brom XI: Foster, Tamas, McAuley, Olsson, Ridgewell, Odemwingie, Andrews, Morrison, Mulumbu, Brunt, Fortune.

Having been turned over by Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, Sir Alex makes several changes with Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Danny Welbeck all returning the the starting eleven. West Brom make a couple of alterations, with Gabriel Tamas and Chris Brunt installed in the starting line-up.

Swansea XI: Vorm, Rangel, Williams, Caulker, Taylor, Allen, Britton, Sinclair, Sigurdsson, Routledge, Graham.

Man City XI: Hart, Richards, Savic, Toure, Clichy, Barry, De Jong, Nasri, Toure Yaya, Silva, Balotelli.

The home side are without the suspended Nathan Dyer, so in comes Wayne Routledge in what is their only change from their previous outing. The league-leaders are much changed following their midweek defeat in Portugal. Roberto Mancini takes another gamble away from home by starting Mario Balotelli on his own, leaving Sergio Aguero on the substitutes bench.

Enter the Dugout Discussion chatroom to keep up-to-date with the goings-on in Manchester, Swansea and Norwich. It can be accessed right here.

So, with Valencia back in training he's the natural replacement for Silva for me. Will wait for more news etc but looks like a good and easy transfer. Silva has been a disaster for a long time for me. When he had his little run of assists, including 2 against Liverpool, I'd sold him only to buy him back for his massive run of blanks.

FPL disaster, selling him 10 weeks ago and using all that cash wisely will have been the best decision a shitload of players will have made all season.

That is precisely the reason why I have suffer Valencia's 7 price drops... once he comes back he will be a brilliant differential... it's not as if he lost his place due to bad form... I firmly believe he will slot back in a RM once fit...

People are mentioning that Bale has gone off the boil, but if, like me you keep track of not just form, but home and away form, he's not done too much worse than I expected.

    Last 5 home games: 9, 3, 5, 15, 3, DNP

It's just that Spurs happen to have played 3 away games since his 15 count and 1 of the 2 home games he was injured.

    I wouldn't panic just yet.

With his last 5 home games, you're going back to the start of January, I don't think you can class that as recent form tbh. As well as that, Saha has been brought it which has seen their system being changed; constant speculation of the England managerial position may have unsettled the squad.

What've you got is since Saha joined, who has played some part in 5 of their last games, is 12 points. These GWs also coincide with VdV playing just 68 minutes. And the last 4 of these have been after the results of the Redknapp trial verdict and subsequent speculation.

I would say Morrison. Excellent stats and has always looked good but in recent weeks his ability has been reflected in his points tally. However, I can't gauge WBA as a side and Brunt, Andrews are both decent options.

Andrews, in particular, is a dark horse and one to watch.

Still not convinced by the Ryo bagonwheel, but I'm often wrong.

Thanks mate. Yeah WBA have a few good options. Morrison is playing a pretty advanced role so he could definitely do the business.

Ryo will get some decent points but i'm not that fussed about getting him.

Let's go for it. I think we left off with you thinking of Shawcross? I would go Shotton but I don't like Stoke's fixtures anyhow. There season may well tail off now.

The thing with Stoke is that they lurch from great form when they win four on the spin for instance, to then losing four. And so on.

Ok my first point of call has to be the replacement for Silva. Young, Nani or Valencia?

Stoke's fixtures are ok from GW31, I'd just have to bench him until then. If I can go cheap on a striker I may be able to afford Baines, but in order to do so I'd have to forgo Ade and Mata. Could easily get Jags in, Everton have a nice run from next week (bar United away) and once Jags is fit he's sure to go back in and could offer a goal threat and a nice differential.

That and my 3rd striker spot are my main dilemmas.

I went Young, but it's anyone's guess. I definitely wouldn't get Nani. Last season, he was consistent and Utd's main creator. Not any more.

Jagielka is looking a good option (may go Howard myself). Don't get Baines if it means sacrificing Mata and Ade.

3rd striker. Well Ba has a big couple of weeks, but personally I like Yak. Blackburn are fighting for their lives and always score. He has the ability to score big and is on pens to boot.

only problem is my main rival owns Yak, so am seeking that differential.

If I got Young I could get one of Mata, Ade or Jags, Valencia would allow for all 3.

Hmm to keep Silva for this week or to sell him on for a United winger (after Thursday) that is the question. If Mull is selling for Clint, I will sell for Tony V. Let's you see overturn a 4 point deficit when we have the same team biatch 😛

you could be right, he is likely to go up tonight. Just not sure how nailed on he is. Would want more faith in him starting every week for that price. That being said I think a United winger is essential for GW29.

Everton have disposed of City, Chelsea and Spurs in the last month, next up Liverpool who have lost last 3 league games. Win that they go ahead of Liverpool, Kenny will be under huge pressure surely if they lose.

    My team:
    Schwarzer-Mignolet
    Caulker-Skrtel-BAE-Evans-McAuley
    Dempsey-Bale-Walcott-Sigurdsson-Miyaichi
    Holt-RVP-Rooney

Does these transfers look good for you?

    For GW 29: Holt>Odemwingie

    For GW 30:BAE>Patrice Evra.
Spurs defense have been conced many goals in last games. United have awesome fixtures and IMO it's better to double up with Evans and Evra and Rooney upfront, with the uncertainty of the wingers.
Evra also looked very lively today, coming in on overlaps and breaking into the box. Should have got an assist.
