Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the sixth instalment of the open-to-all free-to-enter Paddy Power Cup competition. Your chance to join our previous winners – donnellyc, Jonty, Goonerdave, Ninja_Fit_Saints and reigning champ sleepingmaster – in our hall of fame starts now. For full details, including the fantastic prizes on offer once more, read on…

What is the Paddy Power Cup?

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s (FPL) Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager with highest rank in the overall standings will progress.

How do I enter?

As with the Members Paddy Power Cup, entry for the competition is simple, just follow this link and fill out the form as required. A confirmation email will be sent shortly after you’ve submitted your details to acknowledge your entry has been received. Just like the FPL, multiple entries to the Cup are not permitted. Please ensure that you enter your FPL Team Id details correctly, any entries added incorrectly will not be entered into the qualifying round.

This cup is open to Members and Non-Members alike.

When does it start?

All entries received before the Gameweek 29 deadline will be entered into the qualifying round. We will then have 512 qualifiers for the first round – those 507 managers with the top scores in gameweek 29 (plus our five previous winners) will progress to the first round proper, which will be played in gameweek 30. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published around 24 hours after gameweek 29 has been completed and the draw for the first round will then follow.

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £20 Amazon Voucher

Although entry is open to all, entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

If you’re going to bet with Paddy Power, always gamble responsibly.

Yep - only slightly less frustrating than Mata. Though i do think Silva can get something against Chelsea.

Both Silva and Mata for the chop in the next couple of weeks. The decision I'm pondering this week; Mata vs City (with that Toure/Savic CB pairing) or Young vs Wolves?

Mata's away form is atrocious. I'm personally still not convinced by Young, but concede he is more electric than Silva at the moment.

        I have Mata and Silva.

Can't decide who to get rid of first.

Nani is one of the prospects for coming in for either of them.

Gerrard possibly, but would want some injury news. Rotation is a big concern, but the fact he's on penalties is a bonus.

Walcott is also a consideration, but can't decide at moment as away to Everton means I will wait until next week for that one.

It's like when the tories won one of the 1974 general elections with less votes than Labour, only on a far smaller scale and involving little shirts on a computer screen.

I noticed that earlier as Caulker eased his buns off your bench.

SSN talking about the link up play between Gerrard and Suarez. Do we think Suarez will do a lot better with Gerrard playing? He did look isolated against Sunderland without Gerrard/Carroll, but he'd certainly benefit more if he could finish for himself.

4 players per team in the quarter final of the UCL.

    Potential last 8.

    Barca
    Real
    Bayern
    Milan
    Benfica
    APOEL
    Marseille
    Napoli

Suppose it all depends on the draw which players you load up on.

      Depends on the draw.

Would I have 4 players each if Real draw Barca? No.

Would I have 4 players each if Barca drew Apoel and Real drew Marseille? Possibly yes, but that's best case scenario. Milan, Bayern, Benfica and Napoli/Chelsea will also pose dangers to El Classico.

    RMT (repost)

1 FT + 4 pt hit spent on getting Rooney (Aguero) and Evans (Shawcross). I’m eager to take another 4 pt hit to get 1. Young, 2. Valencia, 3. Nani in for Silva (?). Thoughts on Man Utd’s starting XI for this nad the coming GWs? With Young back and banging I feel he is nailed on, but Valencia had a decent run before he got injured.

    Krul (Vorm)
    Skrtel, Evans, Walker, Rangel
    Bale, Dempsey (vc), Silva, Siggy
    Rooney, Suarez
Subs: McClean, Zamora, Simpson + 0.5 in the bank

8 point hits are quite difficult to justify, barring serious injury problems imho. I can see Silva getting a return against Chelsea and whichever United midfielder you pick, there is at least some element of doubt over rotation.

      Team itself looks solid.

    I've decided against Rooney.

I still think he's playing pretty deep.

As much as he's "essential", of the 7 goals in the past 4 matches, 3 have been penalties. Which is ironic after the big thing for most of the season has been how bad at penalties he has been.

We probably will get a few penalties between now and the end of the season, but surely not with the same regularity?

(Also if he starts tomorrow against Bilbao, I'm sure he'll be benched against Wolves).

Just think at the risk of taking hits and downgrading players to afford him at £12.4/£12.5million, it's a low of money to invest up front, when you RVP aswell.

I must admit I got him a little cheaper than that. But 12.5 is still a good price for his returns.

Accept for RVP I'm struggling with capt choices so I'm personally happy to have him. His fixtures are superb and the weaker teams tend to give away penalties to the bigger teams more often.

As far as I'm concerned my team for the foreseeable is as follows

          RVP Rooney
          Bale - Dempsey
          Man Utd def, Liv def
          Some other blokes

I have RVP, Bale, Dempsey, J Evans, G Johnson (if he plays).

So not far off your strategy.

I have Ba (possibly Balotelli long term) and Nani/Young/Valencia for Utd attacking returns (no decision made yet).

I did have Rooney for a long time this season with RVP and didn't work out for me then (RVP pretty much hit form, as Rooney lost it).

I agree 100% that Utd will probably get penalties, just think the law of averages is that we've had more than average in recent times, so surely can't be kept up.

Like I said, I'm not recommending not to have Rooney, just giving my reasons why.

Rooney is essential now. Penalties are goals. And he's been in fantastic form.
And one more thing, Rooney is top three i nthe world at taking penalties IMO. He just aimes and smashes the ball with the inside of the foot, and puts in in the lower corner.

Swansea beat Fulham 2-0 at home, will this time be different? Maybe a high scoring game again? Or Rooney... I can't stop thinking about the fact that there's a chance Fergie might bench him or exclude him, even though there aren't any reports about this but there's rotation risk! Come to think about it, it's at the end of the season and Fergie might want everyone to be fit and started.

Don't think he will be that important for them as long as Gerrard stays fit. He is basically a similar type of midfielder but with far less returns. If Lucas hadn't got injured I think Adam + Gerrard could play together more effectively but right now I don't think he offers much.

Ta. Like most of Dalglish's transfers I can't make sense of it. Isn't this Adam's first season at the club, he was meant to be a big player for them, he's played all the matches to now and now he's appears to be out for Spearing.

I can't even really nail down where each midfielder is playing or what formation Liverpool are playing in any given week.

Before last night they seemed to be playing 4-2-3-1 - rough guess at positions:
        ....................Suarez
        .....Downing...Gerrard...Kuyt......
        ...........Adam....Henderson
        ................DEFENCE

        Last night 4-4-2
        ..............Suarez.........Carroll
        Downing............Gerrard........Henderson
        ............Spearing
        ...............DEFENCE

I'll likely use it late March, early April for multiple tweaks rather than a wholesale clearout. Thankfully got things right enough to not need it prior to the January one. I'm top of all my leagues except one, and that guy is 950th overall, nightmare!
