Liverpool and Chelsea’s options dominate the captaincy discussion for Blank Gameweek 33 – but it’s a close run thing.

The Reds travel to Southampton on Friday night as they continue their bid for the Premier League title while the Blues host West Ham on Monday.

As per usual, we’re here with all the latest individual and team statistics to help choose the best candidate for the armband this weekend.

Captain Poll

It is very tight at the top of the latest captain poll on Fantasy Football Scout. Perhaps inspired by a 15-point score in Double Gameweek 32, Chelsea man 25.4% of voters have sent Eden Hazard (£11.0m) to the summit ahead of a meeting with out-of-form West Ham. The Belgian notched a goal and an assist against Brighton but blanked the last time he faced the Hammers.

Vying for second and third place are Liverpool colleagues Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) and Sadio Mané (£10.0m). The Egyptian currently has a slight edge over his colleague with 23.5% to 22.78% backing but that could all change before the Blank Gameweek 33 deadline. It’s a trip to Southampton to Liverpool which might ask them some testing questions in the title race as the Saints continue to fight for their survival from relegation.

Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy (£9.0m) looks to be the king of the differential options this weekend as he sits in fourth place in the poll. Just under 14% have lent their backing to the Foxes man, which is no surprise given his form and the fact that he faces Huddersfield in Blank Gameweek 33.

Andrew Robertson (£6.8m) completes the top five but is a long way off the leading pack. Just 2.6% of voters felt inclined to hand the Liverpool defender the armband this weekend. However, that was still more than are considering Callum Wilson (£6.5m), on 1.3%, Roberto Firmino (£9.2m), Alexandre Lacazette (£9.3m) and Gonzalo Higuaín (£9.6m), who are the only other options backed by more than 1%.

I’m 170 ish points clear in one ML and well behind in 2 others and Vardy (c) seems like a calculated risk so i say go for it. Think i’m gonna do that myself.

    Went with Vardy (C)

For me, I think Southampton will keep the game tight. Even if the floodgates open, I can't see Liverpool scoring more than 3 and it's hard to know whether it's Salah/Mane that will be at the forefront of that.

Vardy on the other hand is playing a team that has nothing to play for anymore as is in fantastic form.

I also went with Ozil this week over Frazer. Ozil is more of a punt but has performed quite well the last 4 GWs. I think Frazer plays better with Wilson but has lacked the goals/assists this second half of the season.

    Boruc
    Pereira Chilwell TAA
    Salah Mane Sigurdson Westwood
    Higuain Vardy Wilson
    (bench Snodgrass)
    2.3 itb

I am on wc for gw34

    A) Boruc>Kepa (cos of uncertainty of Boruc)

I currently have the A combo in my WC team so I think it's a good option (arsenal have good fixtures for the rest of the season, as do Spurs with home games against HUD and WHU.) Slightly cautious on Aguero given the fixture congestion City have and he may start getting rotated. Wolves look good for all apart from the last game

May just go saguaro as has shown he is a big game player and don't see him being rotated in this big games

    Fab
    Robertson Luiz Digne WanB
    Mane(c) Almiron Anderson
    Vardy(vc) Firmino Wilson

    Button Lanzini Sterling Doherty

    I have 0.7m itb and 1ft...

Anderson>Maddison seems to be the popular choice?

With Brighton and Cardiff having nice DGW's, how will you accommodate players in those teams when Cardiff plays Pool in 35 and Brighton DGw is horrible?
Common sense says have 4 players and bench them in GW35. But that will stop a nice Bench boost.

Is Hazard in danger of being rested in the West Ham game?
Chelsea playing West Ham on Monday but have Europa league 1/4 final away leg on Thursday and Liverpool away on Sunday. Considering West Ham's pretty appalling form will Hazard be rested and Loftus Cheek/Odoi Hudson given another run out? Want to captain Hazard but have to captain a nailed on starter.
