Captains

Captain Sensible – No stand-out candidate for Double Gameweek 34

With no standout favourite in the captaincy debate for Double Gameweek 34, Fantasy managers have been handed an opportunity for sizeable green arrows.

The lack of an obvious option to turn to in the wake of Harry Kane‘s (£12.6m) injury, it means that his support will be split among other candidates.

In order to find the best one for this latest Double Gameweek, we have undertaken some extensive research for the latest Captain Sensible article.

Captain Poll

Because of that injury to Kane, we rest the captain poll half-way through the week in the build-up to Double Gameweek 34. We took that decision because at the time of his knock, the Tottenham forward was enjoying a healthy lead, which he would be unlikely to follow through on with him not expected to play against Huddersfield.

We recorded the results at the time of the reset so that we could document what Kane’s injury had done to the captaincy debate.

The captain poll results before Kane’s injury

As you can see from the picture above, Kane was absolutely running away with the captain poll before he got injured. He was enjoying a 49.95% share of the vote as he was expected to wreak havoc against a recently relegated Huddersfield side. His backing was probably so big because he was the least likely attacking Spurs player not to be rotated after Champions League action.

In second place was Shane Duffy (£4.7m) but he was a long way off with just 14.38% of the vote. The support for him obviously stemming from Brighton’s Double Gameweek. It pits them against Bournemouth and Cardiff at home, two sides that have struggled on their travels this year.

After his 16-point haul against Huddersfield in Blank Gameweek 33, Jamie Vardy (£9.2m) was in third place on 5.97% backing, just ahead of Brighton forward Glenn Murray (£6.3m) on 5.11%.

Captain poll results after Kane’s injury

As you can see from the new results, it would appear that Son Heung-min (£8.6m) has soaked up a lot of the support for Kane, but not all of it. He is the new poll leader but with a much smaller clearance between him and Duffy.

The South Korean currently has 32% of the votes, while the Brighton man has risen from 14.3% to 20.6%.

Vardy has also benefitted from Kane’s injury, jumping from 5.97% support to 11.3%, but is still ranked third right now. Murray’s rise has been even smaller, with an increase from 5.11% to 5.98%.

The last remains of Kane’s support appear to have moved to Sergio Aguero (£11.7m) and Christian Eriksen (£9.2m), who currently have the backing of 4.8% and 3.95%.

i think im done with all these tinkering! last qn, shud i sell robbo for taa, and use the 0.9 to upgrade somewhere?

    ryan / foster
    duffy / robbo / jonny / valery / cathcart
    mane / kdb / eriksen / son / hojbjerg
    kun / jimenez / vardy

thanks! i was actually thinking vardy -> deeney for 35, then eriksen + son -> salah + jota for 36.

if i go robbo -> taa and hojbjerg -> jwp, i have 0.2ITB, and not enough for me to upgrade vardy to anyone =( i can only sell vardy for 9.0..

How many Brighton defenders (inc. Ryan) do you have? Captain counts double.

    1, 2, 3 or 4?
    I'm happy with just Ryan.

Wouldn't feel too bad if that happened. This is a risk I am willing to take considering the stage of the season and chasing my ML with 44 points. But will be the first time I will not be following my captains game until full time. GL

Really looking for some advise here.
    What should I change?

    Lloris, Ryan
    Doherty, Duffy, Valery, TAA, Kola
    Son, Salah, Eriksen, Deulofeu, Camarasa
    Jim, Kun, Vardy

    0.3 ITB
    thanks

      On a WC I assume?
I'm struggling too - was all set until Kane got injured.

Personally, I don't see the point of Liverpool defenders on WC, they have Chelsea and a SGW, surely you can find three defenders with a better fixture this week + a DGW, and then bring them in prior to GW36 with one of your 2FTs.

I would not be wasting transfers on defenders this very late stage in the season, also isn't this the main point of the WC, to shape the team for the remainder of the season... keep TAA or get VVD/Robbo, bench them for the chelsea game and then play them rest of the season.. would not go near Kola

    Bottomed on a previous page

Horrible position of chasing in one ML whilst trying to defend in another means i need to try and have a couple of differentials without missing out on the obvious picks. Currently on this:

    Ryan / Foster
    Valery / Bednarek / Duffy / Kolasinac / Doherty
    Hazard / Salah / Son / Eriksen / Jota
    Deeney / Murray / Aguero

    0.5 ITB

Hazard & Salah are likely to be my differentials compared to rival

    gw35 murray becomes jimenez
gw 36 hazard likely becomes mane / sterling

    would really appreciate any thoughts

People going double City attack, are y'all sure regarding the game time they get?

City play like 6 games in 18-19 days right from Spurs away in the CL that was on 9th April until Burnley on 28th April.

That’s why I’m going double City defence, Laporte and Ederson, as likely to get rotated less. Mind you still having Kun in
