Time is running out on Scout Membership June discount

The June discount for 2019/20 Fantasy Football Scout memberships for 2019/20 is coming to an end soon.

This year the cheaper price of £12.50 runs only until June 30.

From July 1 onwards the cost of Scout Membership for the new campaign will be £17.50.

This is a £2.50 increase on the usual price of full season Memberships.

Over the years we have made steady improvements to what our Members can enjoy and we will be re-investing back into the site to enhance it further in 2019/20.

However, we recognise the support of our loyal members which is why we ran the usual discounted rate of £12.50 until July 1.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

In 2018/19 we published more Members articles than ever before, and plan to produce at least 150 in the 2019/20 campaign.

We also introduced Members only comments and Hot Topics to allow for detailed discussions of content behind the pay-wall.

Our projections and Rate My Team tool have both been tweaked with the former updated more often than in previous seasons.

We are also hugely excited to introduce the brand new Flat-Track Bully feature which allows Members to conduct research in greater detail.

Using this new feature you can customise which matches form part of your tables and comparisons and which do not, based on the opposing team.

This will help you identify players who perhaps perform better against weaker opposition, Flat-Track Bullies, or maybe those who thrive against the top teams like Raúl Jiménez did in 2018/19.

We will be releasing other new features when the June discount expires on July 1 so stay tuned on that front.

Last season, we helped Adam Levy to become the reigning Fantasy Premier League champion.

In his recent interview, he said: “I always sign up pre-season for £12.50 as I think that’s good value for the members’ content.”

In previous seasons we’ve helped FPL winners Tom Fenley and Simon March, while in 2015/16 we were thrilled to see Ed Masters – the winner of that year’s Members League – finish third in the overall rankings.

In 2017/18, Paul Gee went one better. He won our members’ league and finished second, losing out to champion Yusuf Sheikh by just eight points.

We are hugely grateful to those who show their support by signing up as a member each season. This continues to enable us to maintain the site, grow the FFS team and develop more ideas.

Members can switch between competitions to mine the data using an array of tables. Our comparison tools for players and teams can also be used to make head-to-head comparisons.

Filters can be applied to take into account only the last two, four and six matches played by a team or player.

Meanwhile, the match dashboard offers analysis of each match, together with charts which plot average positions and our collection of heatmaps for touches, shots, chances created among other statistics.

Members can also create custom tables based on the data and share them with other members.

The most famous of these is Joe’s Goals Imminent table which has a hugely successful rate for accurately predicting which underperforming assets will find the net next.

We will be producing a new preview movie highlighting what is available next week.

Our pre-season features begin with access to our members season ticker tool on or around June 13 with the announcement of the Premier League fixtures, with our Rate My Team tool and Player Projections to follow once the Fantasy Premier League player list is confirmed.

Having added new features over the last year – including Expected Goals data and Heatmaps – we’ll also be bringing back our Development Squad updates as we gear up to realise more ideas and bring you more tools to help enhance your Fantasy campaigns.

If you’ve any feedback or suggestions of content that you’d like to see added to the members offering, then please feel free to drop us a line at support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Here is one last reminder that memberships are available for just £12.50 during the month of June, but will increase to £17.50 on July 1.

Be sure to check out all the other benefits of signing up as a member here. A full FAQ on our Members area is also available here.

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

Payments can be made through Paypal or via Stripe using debit or credit cards.

    Good morning chaps

Siggy or KDB, which one do you like more?

Personally no doubt, KDB for the whole of the next season.

People say this every season. So far this has never been a good move. Maybe if his injury record improves.

Thinking Siggy might be 1m less in price, so easier to fit in team.

KdB will be far more expensive. If they were the same price, Kev no question. I won't be able to afford both Sterling and KdB, but I might have Sterling and Siggy.

I haven’t begun to think about prices but one strategy that interests me is going comparatively light on Liverpool to get both KdB and Sterling. Could one Liverpool defence and Mane over Mo make that possible?

KdB is the player that seems most likely to me to blow away those people who are plotting a strategy based on 2019/20 replicating 2018/9. If prices and pre-season work out I’d be happy to take the punt.

An alternative is to go KdB and Sterling early on if both Mane and Mo go all the way in the Afcon

It's a risk. I think every man and his dog will go big on Liverpool. If they make a strong start, you're left way behind. If Liverpool falter early door, you're left laughing.

The same could be said of City - the difference, however, is that Liverpool's starting line-up is predictable whereas you risk KdB and/or Sterling starting on the bench some games.

I think this affects the Afcon situation too - Salah and Mane are integral to a very settled Liverpool line up, so I don't think a shortened pre-season will trouble them. I don't think Klopp will rest them either as he won't want to be 2 or 4 points behind City in the first month.

Agreed . Klopp won't compromise after going so close last season.

No he probably won’t compromise. My concern would rather be that they’d be knackered.

I’m taking the lack of rest post season and pre CL final into account here too. Even the Wolves players with EL commitments will have got more rest.

            Yep

It’s a risk of course. KdB would need to show up very well in preseason for me to go there. And well Pep roulette means that some weeks you’re bound to be resting a key asset and that probability doubles with two city mids.

I think it would be incredibly naive of Klopp to start Mane & Salah from the start considering how much rest they've had over the summer.

They finished the season late, went with their countries for AFCON preparations, playing in a major tournament, possibly until July 19th. From that point, they're likely to be given three weeks off (which puts the start of the season in doubt already) but considering most other players will have had two full months off that's not much at all.

We only need to look at the KDB injury from last year, and there were many other instances of players coming back early and getting injured, or looking fatigued for the whole season.

If they come back early then they are in grave danger of getting burned out - I think the best approach would be to rest them simultaneously for the start of the season, they have a squad capable of coping without both for the easier games.

Entirely logical but I think that Mr Klopp may have other ideas.

Good point on the long term repercussions of too much football. It’s worth throwing Bobby F into the mix here too. None of the front 3 will be properly rested.

That said I’m expecting Liverpool to buy big up front this summer. It didn’t hurt them too much as it turned out but there’s a sizeable drop in class when one of the big 3 goes down.

Isn't there a mandatory break imposed now (it might be only two weeks) for the players before they come back for pre-season? Basically, they won't have a pre-season.

I think it is worth avoiding AFCON and South America cup players at the start, go heavy on Liverpool defense, Raz, Siggy, that sort of thing.

If price difference between Siggy and Richarlison is one million, I might consider the latter also. He had a good start last year and when he is in form, he is actually excellent. But he isn't a season keeper.

Everything depends on how Pool defenders are priced. My guess is, that them and Laporte must be more expensive than most of us believe.

Nice to see Pep in a bit of a quandry not able to sign any more non-HG players without reducing the size of his squad. If they sign Rodri and let Delph go, they will only have a squad of 20 players providing they don't sign any more home grown players.

Why is membership going up on 1st July when many users have not yet returned? Some people do have lives and won't be back by then. I'm guessing the current deadline is a marketing ploy and it will be extended, if not you are probably going to shoot yourselves in the foot. August 1st is a much more sensible date.

...no idea why FFS towers are pushing for people to take up a discounted membership...membership to do WHAT with in the off season?

Make much more economic sense to let the posters forget about the early discount and rake in the cash later on.

Good point - I imagine a lot will log in after 1st July and think "that's annoying - I could have joined for 30% less - don't think I'll bother at all now" so does seem like it will either be extended as a marketing ploy, or it is just general ineptitude.

That's not how marketing works, they want get as many on board as early as possible with an early bird incentive. Problem is, if they stick to the 30th June deadline they risk alienating the majority and increasing the likelihood of them not joining.

17 quid is a price increase in itself so it will be noticed, I have to question who's behind the decision making these days.
June is helluva early, most traffic will start rolling up after the game is opened and then again shortly before the season starts - you can see that every season by the amount of players who have signed up to FPL - it's always a late surge.

I’m much less sceptical than some about a premium forward to start the season. I’m not getting hung up about season value here rather looking at points returns. I’m also expecting the premium forwards to come in at similar price points to everyone’s new favourite Sterling.

Case in point. I’d expect Kane and Sterling to come in at similar prices. If you look at the first 22 matches (until Kane got injured) last season and they had almost identical returns of 132 points. From that point of view they could offer similar value next season.

Yes that includes a couple of blanks from non starts for Sterling but that’s part of the deal with him. I don’t see him as being intrinsically better value than Kane. And it’s not the case that this period undervalues Sterling as his returns then more or less matched his season returns.

Auba also had an almost identical return from those 22 matches. If you consider Spurs and Arsenal dovetail home and away then there might be a case for selecting one of them ahead of Sterling and then switching out to the other or Kun perhaps.

My starting point on this is I’m fairly sure I read on Fix that all the top 50 teams last season had a premium forward. I’m also fairly sure most sides I followed (and as a newbie I selected about 20 teams from posters here to track) had a premium more or less all the way through. Is it a regular phenomenon that people overrate season value at this time of year and ignore the idea they’ll be switching premiums in and out?

          2 out of 3, I think.
City are about to splash the cash on a DM to phase in over the season as Fernandinho eases out. Same with Foden replacing Dilva. But Jesus isn't stepping up so I think Kun is undroppable at the moment.

pretty much yeah, it's the same reason everyone is suddenly going with a back 5 - a dead-team should definitely pick Salah and Sterling, but Kane or Kun will outscore them both in plenty of weeks, obviously timing (or luck in some cases) is everything

    Harry Winks, 23 years old.

Pass Accuracy: 92% (Highest for midfielders)
    Forward Passes: 682
    Backward Passes: 317

Only Jorginho and Wijnaldum can compete with that forward-backward pass ratio, whilst keeping ~90% pass completion, and they're 27 and 28 respectively.

That level of intelligence of progressing the play is impressive for his age. Talent.

That's true. He has more space to defend than he would in another team, so his stats won't be as good. I suppose you should only use stats to highlight players to scout, but to truly determine their ability, you'd need to watch them to appreciate the context.

Was starting to look really comfortable & mature as last season progressed, the injury was unfortunate timing, he’ll be very interesting to watch next season for sure.

I often have to remind myself he’s actually older than Alli though!

Dele gets such a hard time by comparison (and probably fairly from a purely FPL perspective tbh), a victim of both his own early success, and Poch’s penchant for playing him deeper the last couple seasons.... those first two seasons when he was a second striker were quality.

Dele was poor last season. Hopefully he sorts himself out next season, he seems to be losing it a bit. That kind of pressure is a lot to handle for a young man.

I often wonder if he is actually just totally burnt out and needs a really extended period of downtime - he had almost two solid years of playing from the age of 20-22 with the World Cup sandwiched between two premiership/champions league seasons... When he initially burst onto the scene he had that bit of freshness & was incredibly destructive

Guendouzi and Winks aren't FPL assets though. I wonder if winks will be marginalized by this new record signing. He could fire up Alli this season.

An interesting stat (or at least one I found interesting lol 🙂 ) - Crystal Palace had the worst home attacking record in the league last season bar Huddersfield. They scored only 19 home goals, comparable (but worse than) even Cardiff (21) and Fulham (22)

It may be the case that a hodsgon team really struggles when the emphasis is even slightly shifted towards having to be proactive or take the initiative from an attacking perspective (as is the case in many of their home games)

Although admittedly they more than make up for it away from home when they are like a literal pack of hungry Direwolves who can tear through even the most hardened of defences - as both Man City & Liverpool found out to their detriment last season.

Could possibly be useful if you’re ever on the fence with a defensive selection in FPL & see Palace away amongst their fixtures - in comparison to other fixtures, there’s a fair chance they’ll keep a CS.

And vice-versa, if you see your defender with home to palace coming up - may be worth thinking about benching as there’s a fair chance statistically of not getting a CS.

    1. Piggs Boson

The more teams attack them, the more dangerous they are. So much pace up top.

And yet I'd still be more comfortable playing a Palace attacker against NOR than ars or tot. Maybe that's a bias I need to eradicate...

Yeah perhaps somewhat counter intuitively, in the past whenever I thought “easy game defensively” I never really thought “Crystal Palace away”... but it actually is quite decent statistically...

I suspect it’s an outlier stat.

In 2017/8 when RH was in charge for most of the season home and away form was pretty even or at least more in line with par.

      H 29 scored 27 conceded
      A 16 scored 28 conceded

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
        • 14 Years

Very interesting - I wonder is it an outlier, or a function of the way Hodgson set up last season? Perhaps Xg etc might shed more of a clue... as their relative weaknesss last year on pure home goals scored sticks out like a sore thumb

        1. pingissimus
          • 5 Years
          4 years, 9 months ago

One reason for supposing it’s an outlier stat is that the 2019 home record was off the charts. It may have been skewed slightly by the last day win over Bournemouth but at that point it was iirc the worst ever home record in the PL for a non-relegated side in terms of goals scored.

home xg was 28.29, good enough for 10th best in the league. Actual goals were 19, a difference of 9.29, the largest discrepancy in the league in this stat. Therefore they were just unlucky/awful at finishing. Don't expect this tend to continue at all.

Hmmmm...that is interesting, but the difficulty as always with XG is that it’s based on averages, and what the average player would score - but there is actually no such thing as an average player of course - so is the delta possibly indicative of them being below average finishers?

Not really, as in away games they outperformed their expected goals by 9.64, almost exactly the amount they underperformed by at home! There is no reason why they would shoot badly at home and brilliantly away, its just a statistical quirk and an example of variance in my opinion and will return to much more normal levels next season.

I wonder had Hodgson got them setup (counter attack) in such a way that the chances they create away from home '' suit'' their finishers more though for want of a better word? I also wonder if pens are coming into it - do they get more pens away from home?

I don't think so, no. Its not like they're generating 100 * 0.01 xG chances at home and 10 * 0.1 xG chances away. I think you're looking for an explanation that isn't there. There was no split on pens home or away either.

They actually got 5 pens at home vs. 6 away... Overall I’d be quite hesitant to write-off their terrible home goals scored record as a statistical quirk or bad luck... certainly over 5-10 games there could be a lot of noise... over a season, it perhaps starts to become more of an issue (possibly a contributing factor into the Batshuyai signing?)

It definitely appears there’s something there in terms of their difficulty in scoring goals at home overall - their home goals scored could progress by 10 or even 20% and they’d still be quite toothless - especially if you discount the Bournemouth game

An interesting read on same below - definitely one i’ll be monitoring as it could give a nice edge from an FPL perspective if it continues, or even if they simply don’t show a colossal improvement percentage wise:

                    https://www.theguardian.com/football/the-agony-and-the-ecstasy/2019/may/16/crystal-palace-club-premier-league-better-away-home

5 vs 6 is no significant difference. Cheers for the link though, that is interesting and I wasn't aware of the trend having gone on over several seasons.

I still don't think they're doing much wrong at home though, if they weren't creating anything at all then I would buy into the theory that they struggle to break teams down at home, but they're frequently creating plenty of excellent chances and its simply finishing which is costing them. I certainly think they need a new, more clinical centre forward though.

Yeah it’s definitely enough to warrant attention from an FPL perspective

The penalties stat isn’t necessarily to say there’s a huge difference home & away (although similar to goals from play, they did score more penalties away from home than at home) but more to show that if you strip out penalties, and the Bournemouth game on the final day they managed only 9 goals in 18 home games... and even when you add penalties and bourenmouth GW38 back into the mix, palace still have the worst home goals scored record in the league bar Huddersfield...

When I see a home offence that struggles that badly to score I become very interested 😉

Indeed - Batshuyai is a much higher quality CF than thye’ve Had in recent times so may pull those stats up a bit.

He actually notched 5 G 1A in 11 appearances (9 starts) which if you extrapolated & he maintend that for a season would pop him around the 20 goal mark...

But equally, of the 4 games in which he scored... 3 of them were actually away, and the other was Bournemouth home on the final day when it can sometimes be hard to know how serious things are being taken by mid table teams

I reckon overall there’s potentially something there with this current configuration of Hodgson team & it’s home offensive struggles, definitely going to monitor it

I confidently dropped Wilson for that match - the 5-3 flattered them. On the beach perhaps but also overrated as a team imo due to the presence of a couple of fantasy titans.

Not sure how a world record price (or something very close to it) for a full back can be regarded as a steal.

I really hope he makes it but I don’t see it as a sure thing. He’s a novice still and there’s a big difference in playing for United and Palace.

It’ll help him if United play someone as hard working as Townsend in front of him. They very much worked as a team last season.

Bet you were saying that when you bought Zaha too. He's had one decent season at a club that still plays Bentekke. It's a risk imo. He could easily flop with the added pressure. I'd wait and see before throwing the absolute steal tag about so easily...although I know for a team not competing for the title he could well be a great catch

80k a week is a modest salary too. I like the signings so far.

Just need a CB, DM & CM now 😀 Herrera needs replacing badly, and Matic is in his 30s and not quick enough.

As a Palace supporter seeing AWB (one of our academy breakthrough players) leave is mixed feelings. Had a great season (one of the best RB's in Europe in regards to tackling/interceptions) but does still have weaknesses that need addressing (as expected at his age) The fee is big for someone with just over 1 years experience in the prem, but the upside for Man Utd is the future potential that if he kicks on will make £50 a steal. I just hope we took out that crazy clause Man Utd were trying on with performance instalments including them winning the Champions League 🙂

I regret it but it feels like a tidy bit of business. We’ve effectively got next season’s price this season and that’s assuming he’s a success there.

And well good as he was I don’t see losing him as effecting the pattern of our play much. I’d argue we’re strong defensively down the right in good part because Townsend tracks back so well - get Clyne in say and we won’t be that much worse off.

Agreed, I can see Clyne "coming home" and Ward has been pretty reliable when called upon. Be interesting to see who else we get in. Despite the loss of AWB still feel pretty good about the upcoming season.

Walker was an England regular when City signed him. He'd just finished 2nd with Spurs, whilst playing at the very highest level in the Champions League. They were buying a proven player. AWB has had one good season in an average Palace side, and recently lost his place in the U21's to Jonjoe Kenny. The transfer's can't be compared, IMO.

I do think AWB is good and will get better by the way.

My issue is they've thrown a lot of money at probably the only position in the squad that didn't need strengthening, with Dalot already at the club.

I think it absolutely needed strengthening, the United right side was awful last season.. Young/Dalot isn't good enough at RB and though Dalot is good but still needs a year at the very least, and Young needs to go. AWB/Dalot is a big upgrade!

That's not to say other positions don't badly need work though

Between Dalot and Darmian (capped 36 times by Italy, defensive minded like Wan-Bissaka), United would have been good for the season, if playing in a tactical system which plays to their strengths. City won the league with Delph at left back. Herrera has gone, Pogba possibly too, Smalling started 24 games at CB last season - for me its clear where they should prioritise.

Imo another year in Selhurst Park wouldn't hurt. But I get that Ole wants a young English core at Manchester United. Wan Bissaka fits the bill.
50m, idk, I guess it is a good price for a player who has his best years ahead of him, and is quality already. Helps he is also bringing Sane and Hazard who are still chilling in his pocket.
If the move does happen, I'm wishing him the best at OT.

Any thoughts on starting with Lucas Moura? They have some good home fixtures and he could be a relatively cheap way into the spurs attack, maybe around 7.5M. Son misses the first 2 games so that should help with starts, and 10 goals least season isn't bad.

They have Aston Villa at home first game, so short term I think he could be worth it over F Anderson or Maddison. I will be having an Everton attacker as well. If it doesn't work out there are a few options in that price range like you said. He could be more explosive

Lucas Trossard on paper looks a good signing for Brighton and then you remember the likes of Izquierdo or Jahanbakhsh and how they never got a chance/never performed and it makes me pessimistic. New manager I suppose but also means we need time to work out his shape and preferred players.

If you rule out Newcastle now Rafa has gone then the new RB at Palace next season must be a candidate for the non-premium 4.5 slot.

Palace are steady defensively and PvA and Sakho will be overpriced - Tomkins could be 5.0 too I suppose. Joel Ward might be a decent call at 4.5 or Clyne (Parish does love Palace heritage) could be interesting too.

No, different kind of player. Vossen is a central forward. Trossard's style can be compared with Jota's or Hazard's. Coming from the flank, using his speed and he loves to take on defenders. Good finisher and very good judgement in front of goal. A much better player than Vossen overall.

Why there are not actual "FPL Points" available on the members tables???? That's the most important statistic after all!!!

Also the "Flat-Track Bully" feature would be even more useful if it is available on "public tables" and "my tables".

Quite a few teams that could be in danger this year.

Both Norwich and Villa conceded a fair few last season and didn't keep a whole lot of clean sheets, so might struggle. Out of the two, I'd pick Norwich to go down, but I haven't kept track of how the Villa team is looking with loan players disappearing.

Struggling to see where the goals will come from for Sheffield United, unless they make some new signings - strong team spirit won't be enough imo. Average age of 28.8 won't help either.

Last spot is tough, could be Villa, could be Brighton or another team that flirted with relegation last season, but based on current situation I'd guess Newcastle. Rafa did a great job with a very average squad, not sure how they'll fair without major changes, ie a major cash influx from new owners...

Almost 100% certain of Sheffield and Norwich. All three promoted teams to go down, possibly.

Villa is the one I'm a bit iffy. The team HAS quality, but they reached this level carried substantially by several loan signings. Tammy Abraham in particular was key, his goals carried them through many games. Have to see whether he gets another season in Villa Park. If they can secure good signing and these players can gel together in time for the new season, then they'll stay up.

Newcastle, that could be absolutely catastrophic this season. Letting Rafa leave is the biggest mistake it made in a LOOOONG time, and I'm including hiring John Carver and Steve Mclaren. How many of their players will leave? Can see Schar leaving to a better club, Almiron perhaps too. Fans are rightfully turning heavily against Ashley. Questions looming over the ownership of the club, whether it'll be sold and what not. Strike force of Muto and Perez. Longstaff being eyed by bigger clubs. I can see this summer as potentially the worst summer for NUFC, and an even worse season.

And unfortunately, my team, Southampton. If we sign a centre-back and a striker in this window, then maybe they get out of this list. But the fact is, with the reshuffle of the board, the Chairman Gao's statement about wanting us to be self-sufficient ( meaning he won't be showering us with money any time soon), the lack of depth, and the potentially premature introduction of youth in the squad. I don't know, it just seems like we could be in for a wacky ride this season.

The 3 promoted teams to go straight back down unfortunately. Norwich defence looks ropey, Sheffield United are old and slow at the back, and don't have a useful striker, not a good combo. Villa are built entirely on loanees, most of whom won't return. Brighton will be better under Potter, certainly more attacking anyway and will better suit their recent and new signings. Newcastle won't score without Rondon but should have enough of the Benitez DNA in defence still to keep teams out and stay up. The rest of the premier league will be nowhere near relegation.
