The Members Paddy Power Cup II reaches its climax over the Easter period, with a champion set to be crowned after a couple of Gameweeks in quick succession. With the goal now in sight, eight Fantasy managers went head-to-head in Gameweek 31 in the Quarter-Finals and here’s how they played out…

1The Lord6362howie_c
2Fuzzy Dunlop6661BilboBaggins
3Pablod5448followthehearts
4KevIRL5062mch

With KevIRL bowing out, it’s now the Quarter-Finals top-scorer, Fuzzy Dunlop, who is the highest ranked in the competition, sitting 2,253rd overall. He’s been drawn against the tournament underdog in 79,585th ranked Pablod, while The Lord, progressing after a close encounter with howie_c, takes on mch, who eliminated the aforementioned KevIRL.

To clarify, here are the two match-ups in all their glory…

1The LordVs.mch
2PablodVs.Fuzzy Dunlop

Remember, a win here guarantees a prize and only two consecutive bad Gameweeks will see one of our remaining contingent going home empty-handed.

The fixtures are to be played across the upcoming Gameweek 32. Good luck to all four of our Semi-Finalists!

Been thinking about this and would appreciate feedback on my GW34 vs GW36 thought:-

Player A has eight players for Gameweek 34 – this means you have seven for double Gameweek 36. With three free transfers, you can have ten double Gameweek 36 players.
Player B has 11 players for Gameweek 34 – this means you have four for double Gameweek 36. With three free transfers, you can have seven double Gameweek 36 players.
Assume we have the same basic players (as most do) so the 8 players in GW34 will include:
    2 forwards: RVP, Rooney....GAP
3 mids: Walcott, Valencia, Siggy....GAP, GAP
2 defenders: Evans, Verm....GAP, GAP, GAP
    1 keeper: Vorm...GAP

Player B gets to play 3 more players in GW34, based on the gaps left and the players you will want to keep (the likes of Suarez, Cisse, Adebayor, Bale, Dempsey, HBA, BAE, Enrique, Baines etc) it is likely you will have space for an extra midfielder like Sessegon or McClean and 2 extra defenders like Caulker and McAuley.

Looking at their games: McAuley (QPR), Caulker (BLA) and Sessegon or McClean (WOL) you would are likely to score a minimum of 6 with a good chance to get at least 1 CS and an assist/goal from Sessegon or McClean which would give you around 14 and if your really lucky (2 CS and a goal/assist+bonus) around 20+ points is possible.

Now, the good bit is that player A has to sit on his DGW players until GW36 praying for no drop in form, injury, bans etc affecting his extra players. Player B on the other hand can wait till GW36 before making his transfers, getting the form players that are most likely to play. The point to consider is that Player B can use the points he earned in GW34 as an investment to be spent partially or completely on hits, the 3 extra transfers would cost 12 points which depending on the GW34 results could still leave the player in profit and with the same amount of DGW payers as player A.

This is assuming you want 11 DGW players! If you take Caulker and compare him to someone like Simpson for games in GW34 and GW36 you get:-
    Caulker = GW34 (BLA) GW36 (WOL) = 2 home games
    Simpson = GW34 (blank) GW36 (wig/che) = 2 away games

Of course it might end horribly but at the moment I think there is a good case for 11 GW34 players!

you make some very valid points there about injury bans etc and also about hits taken off the investment. I'm going for 11 in GW34

      Quality against Quantity.
      I prefer 10 players in GW34
      &
8 DGW players in GW36 with RVP,Siggurson & Caulker being other.

Not worth it - one extra player or not IMO.
Blackburn and Man City are hardly clean sheet opportunities.

I agree - think BBURN will score at WBA - their home form is poor!!

Hence the 2nd opinion on McCauley!

to get an 11 out for GW34 I have to take a hit this week or 33 or 34. As already have done my FT for GW 32.

          Damn you fixture arrangement man/corporation!!

          Senderos - McCauley - GW32 (-4 hit)
          Skrtel - Kompany - GW33
          Raylor - Bardsley - GW34 (giving me 11)

No I have kept Ba for the time being. I was going to get rid this week but with the problems with GW34 I had to come up with a plan. So....I will be getting rid in gw 34 for Balotelli (unless he does something crazy again).

I am going with Walcott and Valencia for the rest of the season although Demps is also leaving come gw 34 for sess!

Well thats the plan....it may change! 😉

It got rid of Ba last week for Cisse, and will be keeping him on my bench for GW34.

But yes you may aswell hold on to Ba now and get rid in 34.

I read an article pertaining to the fact that Ba hasn't changed much since Cisse came in and that it's more to do with him not getting the rub of the green (and they use stats to back it up). I'm considering Ba instead of Cisse for the DGW as a differential.

I think it is where AP is playing him at times he is hugging the touch line as a winger - where he is not effective - but with Cisse in such good form you have to play him through the centre.

He hasn't had less shots though.

He has created more chances, had more touches, more passes, more crosses and more assists. It's only goals that's missing and with the rest of the stats you can't help but think they will come.

      Enrique Baines Evans (Caulker) (Kelly)
      Bale Walcott Sigurdsson Valencia(C) (Dempsey)
      Crouch RVP Rooney (VC)

BLA and bol are hardly good from a defensive point of view, Blackburn always seem to score and Spurs away defense isn't usually crash hot.
They are 2 very bad teams defensively so Bale/Ade/VDV could be brilliant.

Bendtner Or Graham for GW 34 ???

That will make it 10 players for GW34 with the extra transfer possibly for GW36 player ( Freidel mostly)

Already have Siggy and Vorm and No sunderland cover..

Graham allows to leave me with enough money to get Freidel in next week and use for the DGW..

Bendtner will leave me with money to buy Krul for Schwarzer... Already have S.Kelly and SImpson too for the DGW..

    What should I do ?

But that means 5 transfers (-8) in 2 weeks to get 9 DGW players.. and starting Siggy and Rvp..

Not Bendtner. MON has said that he's going to bring in the fringe players for the remainder of the season now that Sunderland are safe and with Bendtner only on loan, I think he's the prime candidate to get rested so that other players can avail of game time in preparation for next season.

have suarez on my team for next two good fixures, but after gw33 ditching him for a striker that plays gw34. if i will have up to 8.0 to spend, looking at gw34 and a bit beyond, who is best option:

A - bendtner (in form, good fixures, slight rotation risk and a c***)
B - Odem (a bit out of form but good fixures and can potentially explode)
C - agbonlahor (will play gw34 and twice on GW35, but for him "form" is something you fill when you do tax returns)

    ideas?

but he's better than them all... can't afford Cole unless I have a rethink on transfers elsewhere

He is definitely better than them, but that's the thing, he might be rested as their fixtures are a plenty and he'll be needed for the Champions League

How long before SAF says enough is enough and throws Rooney up top to wreak havoc?

Welbeck must look over his shoulder every night waiting for the police to arrest him every night for fraud as he is clearly impersonating a striker and Hernandez needs more time. I've never seen a player with so much pace get caught offside so much.

Welbeck is really excellent, imo. Hernandez has been exposed as having poor positional sense. He will learn very soon.

        Interesting.
I think Welbeck is really out of his depth personally and it pains me from an FPL pov to see him spurn chances that Rooney would put away with his cock.

I agree with you regarding Hernandez, I am just surprised! Last year that is what his strength was, always in the right time living on the shoulders of defenders, banging in goals.

I hope that this year is just a learning curve.

This year, they are all jumping up on him. He will learn to keep BEHIND the shoulder of the centre back. He is level, most times, this Season. That will bring his pace into play again. He has also been too static, this last five weeks.

      Potentially this weekend.

He subbed Chicha off early vs. Blackburn where he did nothing, then appeared frustrated with Welbeck's fancy flicks etc later in the game.

        Agreed.
This is why I am really hesitant about giving Valencia the armband.
If Young starts, even more reason to give it to Roo imo.

Agreed, im not really convinced by Welbeck. Hernandez on the other hand looks like he could have the makings of a real out and out goal scorer, i actually expected him to do a lot more this year, but it hasnt materialised for some reason.
