Nicklas Bendtner is notoriously not short of confidence. In an interview with a UK newspaper three years ago the Danish international summed up his levels of self-belief by claiming: “I want to be known as a world-class striker. And it will happen. Trust me, it will happen. I look around at other players, I see my own ability and I can’t see anything that tells me it won’t happen.”

Countless times since then, those words have come back to haunt him; most memorably, perhaps, was back in March 2010, when a trio of sitters even forced Bendtner to laugh it off as he made his way to the subs bench. Firmly behind Robin Van Persie in the pecking order up front for Arsene Wenger’s side, Bendtner mustered a mere eight goals in the previous two seasons and with his chances of first-team football at the Emirates little-to-non-existent, a loan move to Sunderland on the last day of this season’s summer transfer window afforded the big Dane a chance in the spotlight.

Bendtner was far from world class during the first half of his season under Sunderland’s then-manager Steve Bruce, scoring just two goals. He fared little better during the winter months when Martin O’Neill arrived at the Stadium of Light, as injury curtailed his game time. From December through to February he managed a solitary goal and missed four fixtures, with those words from three years ago continued to echo solemnly around Premier League grounds.

The month of March, however, saw a dramatic turnaround in form, with Bendtner surprisingly emerging as one of the most potent strikers in the Premier League. From Gameweek 27 through to Gameweek 31, Bendtner notched up four goals, amassed seven bonus points and produced two assists to take his Fantasy Premier League tally over those five games to 37. In terms of forwards, only Papiss Cisse, with 39 points, managed to outperform the 6.1 priced Bendtner.

With six goals in their last two games, the Sunderland team as a whole, especially Stephan Sessegnon – who assisted Bendtner’s goal against Manchester City last weekend – are also among the Premier League’s form sides. With Sessegnon, Seb Larsson and James McClean, there is plenty of willing support to help Bendtner maintain his eye for goal and add to his six assists so far this season.

He certainly has some strong home fixtures on the horizon to test this theory (TOT, eve, WOL, avl, BOL, ful, MAN). Crucially Sunderland also play during Gameweek 34, hosting Wolves when eight teams miss out due to FA Cup scheduling, making him an even more valuable asset in the coming weeks should his form continue. With a strong home game in Gameweek 36 against Bolton, those Fantasy managers who are perhaps looking for alternatives to the double Gameweek will be eyeing up the 1% owned differential over the Gameweeks ahead. Who knows, if Bendtner can keep up this goal scoring record, maybe, just maybe, he’ll prove himself to be right all along.

I haven't played UCL beyond the group stage before so unsure of how it works.

I take it the budget remains the same? Is it not a struggle putting a team together with very few cheap options?

Neither have I. Bring in some Apoel players before they disappear. Bring in Alaba the Bayern mid who is 4.3. I'm just trying to get the best 10/11 players out instead of buying a squad.

Spurs - Ade / Bale / BAE the main ones.

VDV / Walker / Kaboul are the others Spurs choices.

      Others - Siggy / Sess / McClean / Cisse

Potentials - Mata / Lampard / Drogba (all risks)

Then RVP and Rooney IMO. Doesn't matter who they're against, they can outscore any DGW in just one week when they're in form and they both have huge incentives to do so.

It's a derby for Rooney so he's going to want to go all out and destroy them to get some dignity back after their abysmal 6-1 loss.

RVP will still be fighting tooth and nail against Spurs so RVP has plenty of potential to score big.

Of course things can change, but players like Rooney and RVP are in so many teams because of their potential of scoring big against anyone.

Afternoon guys. After much deliberation I've finally found I can field 11 players in GW34 without taking a hit. But then to get 6 (decent ie not counting bogdan) players for GW36 I need to take a 4 point hit.

Thus my question is (barring injury of course) which team would you go for? >>>

Alot of people on here looking at Terry/Cech for Chelsea coverage in GW36 but surely if fit, Ivanovic is nailed on? RDM played Ferreira over Bosingwa when Ivanovic was out as he has that little faith. Also Ivanovic has a good attacking threat as proved this weekend and at 6.6m is my first Chelsea pick for GW36!

For First Choice players at Chelsea eg Ivanovic Mata, they have a hectic schedule with some very important games, it would be unlikely to suggest they will start every game, the QPR game looks a prime candidate for a rest when players such as Bosingwa and Ferreira could do an able job against by far the weakest of opposition they will face in that time.

Yeah I suppose Bosingwa may fill in at QPR actually. TBH looking at that I think only Cech is likely to play both games as Luiz/Cahill are more than able to cover for Terry. How about Cole, how likely is he to have a rest and be replaced by Bertrand?

Possible that Bos or Ferreira could also play LB but I think Cole would be worth the gamble? Having looked at the fixtures I could see Cahill starting both the DGW games and BLA which look most appealing, with Luiz Terry being preferred for the bigger games.

I think it would be a MASSIVE gamble to hope Cahill will play both the DGW games and Balckburn. Yes possibly Cole could be worth this risk but I would really like more goal threat in the likes of Ivanovic/Terry.

Tough fixtures GW37/38 for most teams who have favorable fixtures in 36

    Chelsea - liv BlA
    Liverpool - CHE swa
    Sunderland - ful MUN
    Swansea - mun LIV
    Newcastle - MCY eve
    Fulham - SUN tot

How are people sorting their side out for these weeks? Im currently thinking of benching the likes of Walcott and Sagna (NOR wba) and loading up on 3 Spurs (avl FUL) plus Baines (wol New) for the double. Are people planning on point hits for the final 2 weeks?

    The adventures of Captain America

I have come to a decision that next week Clint Dempsey will be sold for Stephan Sessegnon meaning I will have a full 11 players for GW34. Then, in GW35 Captain America shall return to the side in place of Theo Walcott and will be handed the armband for his delicious home fixture with Wigan Athletic and will also start for the remainder of the season.

    Thanks All
