The eagerly awaited first round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power, has been made. If you’ve qualified and want to find out who your opponent is, click here to view the full set of 256 fixtures. [If you’re struggling to find your name in the fixture list, you can do so easily by pressing Ctrl+F and typing your name in.]

The draw has thrown out plenty of juicy fixtures, such as greghammer95 Vs. The Sting, alang Vs. Dick Fran Dyke and Waldaz Vs. Jamsiep to name just a few.

Hall of famers Jonty and donnellyc both have been dealt tough draws against higher ranked opposition. Current champ Jonty takes on Lucky_2010, and former champ donnellyc is up against billywhizz.

Devilx has more of an uphill battle, as he comes up against the highest-ranked player in the competition, 37th placed bangkibong. The only other cup entrant in the top 100 is number 67 in the world zophar, who is up against FFS Cup II quarter-finalist fiacloir.

The happiest with the draw has to be DundalkKid, who has been drawn against the lowest ranked manager in the first round, cullieh.

Other than facing a low-ranked opponent, another potential reason to be happy with your fixture is when you’ve been given a head-start, and that’s exactly what emperikal has given me. Having taken a four-point hit so early into the international break, I can only hope he picks up an injury or two to force his hand into further point hits.

Looking at my colleagues fixtures, and four of five face higher-ranked opposition. I’m Not Marshal Foch is involved in a huge tie with Twisted Saltergater, Granville and Pure Olivia are the underdogs against Bob and acrascall respectively, and greek fan faces top 1000 manager chipsngravey. Mark is the only favourite going into his, rather ironic, tie against tippman.

All fixtures are to be played in GW8. Remember that the first prize of the season is up for grabs, as the highest point scorer for the week with earn themselves a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power. Good luck to all, and I’ll bring you the results of round one a day or two after the final game of the gameweek has taken place.

I have a problem though. Opponent has 1pt more than me overall and team very similar. He allready has nani/Fab. Made 1 trsfr that might be Alex-->?

Back to the 'will Liverpool be deducted points?' debate, article here suggested they might, even if it is the holding company that goes into administration: http://www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_6433366,00.html

Absolutely no chance on earth that the Kopites will be deducted any points. There's more chance of them being awarded 10 points in sympathy for them having such a rough old time

    Hey guys,
Planning ahead for getting Fab back in for GW10.
    Which do you reckon?
    a) alex - alcaraz / malouda - fabregas
    b) alex - alcaraz / tevez - jones / scholes - fab

So I guess it comes down to malouda or tevez out for fabregas?
    Cheers

Malouda is about the best value player around. All this talk of people selling him on here is just ridiculous.

He is just as influential as Drogba thes days, but cheaper and down as a mid!

I just think that Tevez is a proven prolific striker for the same money

Malouda has already risen over 1m & will surely start to drop soon. He also tends to play in good & bad spells & I think his good spell may be coming to an end

Saying that I have both 🙂 although Malouda will be making way sometime in the coming weeks as I think he is holding up the development of the rest of my team - wish January would hurry up !!

I remember thinking the go-karts were the coolest thing in the world. Obviously my young brain ignored the fact that Pat Sharp could keep up with them at a slow amble

I blame the ref for not giving Newcstle's blatant penalty with Nolan just subbed. Barton 7 points would have seen me through nicely.

Not sure Bale's booking would have much affect considering everyone and their gerbil has him!

I am also reasonbly confident that in losing out on pens Drog will start wrestling the ball off Cech and taking goal-kicks.

I know Andy Grey bangs on about this, but Drog taking corners is just ludicrous.

              I blame him too.

Until that goal (and the bonus that came with it) I was winning my H2H match up, had a perfect score in a disaml IKTS week and had cut the lead in one of my minileagues to a single point. B*stard.

I'm not sure if his apparent injury now counts as revenge, or merely adds to the pain.

(PS - through in the cup though - I have drawn the Egyptian Jon Reeson.....)

He'll play against Liverpool but I don't fancy his chances long-term. Osman played very well against Birmingham on the left and when Pienaar is back from injury Moyes may well play Osman on the right in Coleman's place with Pienaar back on the left.

Clubs that take on points penalties seem to be more fired up- would be interesting to see if there's a difference between those that have the penalty imposed pre-season and those mid-season. I'd imagine that it's harder for the clubs that get them mid-season.

I thought that was only if Hicks and Gillette don't sell the club to the Boston Red Soxs guys... If the takeover hasn't been accepted by the court, then RBS will be forced to take ownership of the club and they'll be put into administration...

Hicks and Gillette are in a no win situation... Either they back down and allow the Red Sox guys to takeover, for a price below what they value the club, or they continue fighting until Oct 15th, when RBS will be forced into taking the club away from them.

Hopefully they continue to be idiots, and fight the takeover.... Liverpool getting deducted points would be the most hilarious thing ever.

Not crazy at all. I'm stumped between Berb, Nani and Fabs. Berb because he's got no international match, Nani becoz he's on fire, and Fabs becuase he's got a relatively low ownership atm and could get me back in touch with the pack. Fabs i think though.

Planning bringing him in, captain? Hmm he's the best option if he us gonna play 90, there's no else I'd really fancy captaining if not, not sure I could bring myself to captain Nani, possibily default Drogs I guess.

      Yup.

If his twitter account is to be believed, then he'll have been fully fit for over 10 days, so I don't see too much of a risk of him being subbed off early.. Arsenal are pretty poor without him, and getting results in the league is more important than the Champions League - as they've made a good start in the CL - so if he does need some rest, it will probably come against Shakhtar.

Since Fabregas got injured, Arsenal have lost every single league game... (If you count the draw with Sunderland where they were 1-0 up when he went off).

If he is fully fit, which by all accounts he will be - and will have been for a while - then he simply has to play.

Forget the result for a minute, even Diaby that is usualy shit looked quite good, I don't know if that says more about 'the current Chelsea 11 with no strength in depth' then it does Arsenal.

Outplayed and were guilty of missing key chances, Chelsea had Drogba to save them yet again, this Chelsea side is getting like United, it's old and winding down, there is nothing in reserve and god help them if drogba got injured like United are finding out without Rooney.

City will win the PL this season, they showed the other week against chelsea that the bar has been raised and even you lot looked inferior against them.

              Terribly sorry Mr. Grumpy.

Do you remember when we beat Utd at Old Trafford with Drogba on the bench? Yup, I thought so. What about the times we put 7 past Sunderland and Villa without him? The team hasn't changed one bit since last season, so it's ridiculous to say that we are nothing without Drogba.

Koscielny missed a bad chance in the first minute, but after that you guys barely created anything in reality. Chamakh had a couple of headers that weren't even close, and aside from the goals Anelka had easily the biggest chance of the match, when he went round Flappy-hand-ski.

As for City: They didn't make us look inferior, not at all. It was a game where the first goal was ultmiately going to decide the result, and they got that bit of luck that we didn't.. Plus Boyata should have been sent off in the first half.

Keep trying to persuade yourself that Utd and Chelsea are actually shit. It's amusing.

Chelsea are not a good team, granted they were too powerfull for this league (money talks) but they get found out in Europe every year and is the main reason why they have never won the CL and never will with this bunch of players.

City will follow your path and buy the title this season, they may have beat you twice last season but that doesn't tell the story, their season was destroyed by a load of draws under Hughes, Mancini's team has more about it.

Brilliant... Need I tell you how much bad luck we've had in Europe over the past 5/6 seasons.

                  05: Luis Garcia's phantom goal
08: Lost on penalties in final
09: Iniesta's late goal after 4 penalties not given.
10: No penalty for Kalou (and red for Samuel) in first leg vs Inter.

We've made it to the semis in 5 of the last 7 seasons. Not entirely sure that that constitutes 'being found out every year'.

Still not convinced. Defeat at Sunderland, draw at home to Blackburn. They were very average and generally outplayed by Newcastle last week too. They'll finish 4th.

I think "getting found out in Europe every season" is a bit harsh. Some of the defeats have been so marginal. Iniesta last minute, Garcia goal, Terry pen miss hardly felt like we had been found out.

He is a kid hence the reference.

Chelsea are no different to Blackburn, they were a nothing club that came along and pumped money into it much like City are doing, both clubs have shown that you don't need to be a big club to win it.

Chelsea are just Stoke with money.

City are second, 5 points behind and already with a win under their belt against Chelsea, if they have no chance this season then no other ageing or youthful team team will get near it.

We were in the Champions League when Roman came in... Hardly a nothing club, but then you know that...

City are already 5 points behind, after already playing Chelsea at Eastlands... Your argument makes no sense.

Tottenham are in the CL, Everton qualified as did Newcastle, all clubs on your level, as much as I despise United and Liverpool you are nowhere near that stature and only think you are due to the money, much like City will.

The buying the league thing is interesting. Chelsea made a much better go at it as at the time no one else had that kind of money, so it was easier to attract the big players and manager. City are making a bit of a hash of it but they won't stop spending till they have won everything, it's inevitable.

There is no doubt we bought the league. But I think buying Mourinho was just as important. We probably wouldnt have won it for a while without him but he could have probably won it without the money.

Ranieri is a tough one. I did really like him as a man and kind of enjoyed the excitement of turning up each week and trying to predict his line-ups. Most of the time I agreed with his decisions but ultimately I felt we would never win anything with him.

                    His autobiogrpahy is surprisingly dull.

    hi lads (and lasses!)
havent been on this week due to college, have a couple of questions for a kind soul that wishes to answere

    (i) is alex's injury serious to transsfer him out (and free up funds for fabs)

(ii) im guessing playing the WC isn't really working out well with only 1 double riser, is this the case?

    cheers! 🙂

Yes but on the last international break there were very few double risers to profit from – but if you feel have a better team after playing the WC, then its been of benefit to you

      i) I'm not getting rid... My defence is good enough to bench him for the avl game (I was considering doing it even if he was fit)... If he is out for three weeks then he should be back for the Wolves game.

If you did get rid of him, how would you get Fabs in??

ii) Have patience... You're not even half way through the gameweek. Transfers should pick up on next Thursday/Friday.

i'v kept 3.8 in the bank, so i could do alex -> 4.9 defender and bale -> fabs.

i haven't played my wildcard because im happy enough with my team i was just aware that many on here had done it..

Adam/Tevez/VDV/Elmo all look like they will double rise, with Toure and Etherington potential doublers too, not that bad at all to me

My current plan (as it stands) is to take a 4pt hit to get Fabregas back in.

    Yaya --> Ferguson
    Bale --> Fabs
    Hahn --> Al-Habsi

    Leaving me with:

    Foster Carson
    Alex Jones Faye Perch Konchesky
    Malouda Davies Fabregas Nani Ferguson
    Carroll Tevez Drogba

This will use up all my money. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on it? I won't be making the transfer until the end of next week unless Bale drops any further.

    Cheers

Sorry the GK should be Al-Habsi in the squad, not Carson.

I have been reading all the Malouda v Drogba comments on here, and even though I am on my WC I am undecided as to whether I keep one or the other, or both. I agree with Si above in respect of Malouda's form, it does not look like dropping despite what some people think. He is also playing as a striker almost and is in midfield.

On the flip side, Drogba is a goalscoring machine and is proven in this regard, Malouda had a good half season last season and has started very well this season. He is however most likely to be rotated against Wolves with all his International duty and Champions League. Drogba is also on pen's while Lampard is not in the team and is also on most free kicks, Drogba to me, is more essential due to his potential from set pieces.

Malouda OUT Fabregas IN looks like a good move for my team right now

      I wouldn't drop either of them. Drogba's FPL's highest-scoring striker and Malouda's the highest-scoring midfielder.

    How do!

Any thoughts on whether Al-Habsi is now first choice Wigan keeper for the season?

    cheers

I'm confused, how to you qualify for the fantasy cup?
From what I gathered you needed a score of over 49, I got 51 but I can't find my self in the list?
