FPL Question Time – Consult our panel ahead of Gameweek 3

It is a short but important week coming up for Fantasy Premier League managers.

There are some big decisions to be made ahead of Gameweek 3 as some prepare to spend their two free transfers, others consider the Wildcard and that’s before we even get on to the captaincy.

So we’ve put together another panel of fine FPL minds to help you with any dilemmas.

Who’s on the panel this week?

Simon March – Former FPL champion who won the title in 2014/15 and has provided excellent advice ever since.

Always Cheating – The USA’s number one FPL podcast duo comprising of Josh and Brandon.

Gregor – Long-time Fantasy Football Scout moderator.

Doosra – Fantasy Football Scout user with some rather popular custom tables.

What do you think is the best formation for the upcoming weeks, giving the fixtures and the players that impressed until now ?

im liking the look of 3-5-2, or 4-5-1
pukki and rashford up front, strong midfield, usual suspects in defence

3-5-2, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1. So many midfield premiums and goalscorers that it's hard to afford 3 decent forwards for a 3-4-3.

Thanks guys, I think I am leaning towards 4-5-1, as I want 4 defenders, and there isn't choice in the forwards apart from Pukki. I am just fearing the inflexibility of this formation and the the hardness of acquiring a second premium forward.

Perez, 2 AFCB for the Man City game. Digne potentially injured, Salah over Mane & double pool defence

I think Perez is your biggest issue.
I’ve read Digne will return for next game.
If you wanted you could do Salah to Mane and Perez to ???

However, if it were me I’d only change Perez and hold a transfer

Yep that could work as well. So many options this week.
          I’ve done Fraser,Barkley,Wilson > Cantwell,KDB,Pukki -4.

I’ve no United or Spurs attack. Wavering on pushing the WC button but in reality my team is good enough to get through next week.

I’ll probably hold it, unless you can see anything else I need to do with the other ft?

        Robbo, Digne, Zinchenco, Zouma, MontoyA
        Sterling, Salah, Martial, Perez, (Donkey)
        Kane, (Greenwood), (Wickham).

Greenwood and Wickham both bench fodder, who I’ll get 1 appearance pt from if my team gets majorly rotated/injured.

I’ve seen a lot of hate on here for people taking hits or hitting the WC, I understand everyone has their own opinion but is it really that bad??

    1) You have the ability to catch price rises, which at this point in the game could be much more valuable to building a solid team for the months to come.

    2) For everyone saying we haven't had enough time to asses players in form etc...while I agree that we haven’t had much time, there are already certain players that are showing their strengths and weaknesses already so why not capitalize on their form or lose players who aren’t on form right away rather than watch them sit in our teams for weeks.

    3) The people who haven’t changed their teams are taking a risk that the others who get on the bandwagons early could simply leave them in the dust if these players keep performing with no way of getting them easily because they will be priced out. I get that those of us who have chosen to take hits or WC are also taking a risk but there is no way of knowing if that will be a risk or excellent decision. Any players could be injured at any time, injuries don’t have to wait until the international break...

Just saw a lot of hate and wanted to offer a bit of support for some of us WC crew, everyone will play the game differently and that’s what makes it so exciting. Goodluck lads!

I’ve often WC’d early and has always worked out ok or great. I’d rather use it now and get ahead rather than trying to claw back from mistakes by hanging on to it for dear life, like you say though, everyone plays it a different way.

Also feel mids will outscore forwards by miles again this season.

      1) If you already have a great team, hold the WC. Even if someone else scored this week. Many people are panicking too easily.

      2) Don't WC into a terrible team. You need to know current form & future fixtures, not just previous gameweek points. There is no second WC to re-save you.

      3) If you have a terrible team, WC away as long as you know what you are doing.

      4) If you WC early, you need a lot of long-term players. Guaranteed starters are a high priority.

Point 2 is critical and I feel like there are a lot of wildcard teams picked on form rather than potential. If form goes, what are you left with? A team half filled with Norwich and SHU players most likely.

Wilson and Perez to Pukki and Martial with 2 FTs and then do Siggy and TAA to KDB and AWB -4 in GW4

    Or

Just do Wilson, Perez and Siggy to KDB, Pukki and Mount -4 this GW and go without Martial?

How important do you guys think Pukki is?
Good two games, but now some really tough fixtures...

    1. Karhumies
      • 11 Years

Pukki is the kind of guy to make a 4-1 goal when the team is already down 4-0 against Liverpool. Many other teams/players would already stop trying to score since they will lose the match anyway.

    How does this team look

    Please rate my team

    Ryan
    AWB Coleman Walker
    Sterling Salah KDB DouglasLuiz
    Pukki Barnes Kane (c)

    Button lundstram Kelly dendocker

The defence is based on fixtures for Coleman and Walker. AWB is increasingly assuring of being able to perform good
I am confused if I move KDB out and bring Martial in and use those funds to perhaps move out one of the defenders to a liverpool one.

Also is Barnes to Haller a good option
