Why has Everton’s attack been so underwhelming so far this season?

Everton’s popular attacking assets have underwhelmed Fantasy Premier League managers so far this season.

After two matches, they have scored just once, only Crystal Palace finding the net fewer times than the Toffees at this stage.

Perhaps we should not be too surprised to see Marco Silva’s men struggle in front of goal at this stage.

During their pre-season campaign, they scored just three goals in seven matches, with Richarlison (£8.0m) the only key figure missing for most of it.

One was registered against Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks, while Monaco and Mainz were the only other teams to concede against Everton.

The Toffees drew blanks in four of their summer friendlies, against FC Sion, Wigan Athletic, Sevilla and Werder Bremen.

Of those who found the back of the net, Joe Williams and Lewis Gibson are not first-team regulars, the former now a permanent Wigan player, while Seamus Coleman (£5.5m) is the only summer goal-scorer to have played in either Premier League match so far this season.

Accordingly, ahead of a Gameweek 3 trip to Aston Villa, Fantasy managers might be looking to move on their Everton attackers.

We have assessed the underlying statistics from their first two matches of the campaign to find out if the Toffees have simply been unlucky not to score more often, or if there are some tangible reasons for concern.

As this article uses data from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area only those who have signed up for the 2019/20 season can access it in full.

So anyone that does not have Kane going to consider him if he has a top weekend?

That is the beauty of still having your WC...

Not with his next two fixtures.

If he is bang on the money this weekend meaning at least a brace then I will wait to see him vs Arsenal.

I am defo going to keep an eye on Barnes. He really started well and value for money so far.

No. I expect him to haul v Lolcastle, but I'm not going to chase lost points. I could only get him in by doing a WC and I'm not planning to use it yet.

    Here’s my variation of a non Salah/Mane W/C team...

    Pope
    AWB / VVD / KWP
    Sterling / Martial / KDB / Ceballos
    Firmino / Kane(c) / Pukki

Button / Doug Luiz / Lundstram / Hanley

    Been on this all week.

Offers so much potential going forward as there’s a player at every price point.

Would you take this team, if you were on a wildcard...??

    1. Pacer.
      • 9 Years
      4 years, 7 months ago

I like it, but honestly I would sooner invest in Wilson and deploy cash elsewhere than in firmino. He's streaky with good points and average overall. It's just a ballache

      1. The Wanton Trader
        • 6 Years
        4 years, 7 months ago

I genuinely don’t think I could put Wilson in on a W/C now.
I’m not expecting massive hauls from Firmino, just to keep me ticking over with the odd returns.
It allows me to keep a Pool forward and gives me the dream mid pairing of Sterling + KDB... ty

          Got AWB + Martial.
Stick Rashford in there too and it may be overkill.
It is an option going forward though.
As I said, this team covers most moves..

Yeh, However I’m having second thoughts on Martial and Firmino.
Thinking Mane + Greenwood and using the 1.3m spare to upgrade elsewhere.

          1. The Wanton Trader
            • 6 Years
            4 years, 7 months ago

            I tried moves like that.
It’s all very well saving a bit of cash to upgrade, but I found that I didn’t have anywhere to spend it.
This team was bang on the money for me and I would of lost it if I had held off playing w/c...

            1. The 12th Man
              • 10 Years
              4 years, 7 months ago

              Yeh fair enough.
The only player I’d upgrade with the 1.3m is KWP > Digne but that would mean you playing one of Lundstrum or Cantwell every week.

                • 6 Years
                4 years, 7 months ago

I think I’d rather have KWP for now.
I’m just hoping he can keep his place.
He needs to make himself undroppable against Newcastle imo...

What are the key things we're looking out for this weekend?

    I'd say

Cabellos: plays and looks good again - amazing. Anything goes wrong, bit of a disaster. 5.5, that horrific price point haha

    Liverpool defence. Say no more

Kane. Hits double figures again and becomes the cheapest premium with serious ability to smash 200. Salah absolutely plummets

    Son. What a chap.

All the 6.0s. Mount, Trossard, Perez etc. Who will steal a march

      1) Performance of £6.5m or below strikers
      2) Performance of £6.0m or below midfielders
      3) Liverpool, Man City and Everton defences
      4) Aguero vs Sterling
      5) Kane vs Son
      6) Salah vs Mane

With the repricing it's say this is now Salah v Sterling and Kane/Son/KdB v Mane

Your comparison kind of suggests Liverpool attsckers are essential. Biggest question for me is, are they?
