Our second of three Members’ articles this week revisits last weekend’s fixtures and plunders the Gameweek filtered Opta stats currently available on our test server. This new set of tools, which we hope to be opening up for a Beta test next week, allows the analysis of statistics not only over a specific Gameweek but also a range of Gameweeks.

We took a look at some of last weekend’s top performers to offer you further analysis and to highlight some of the information that Members will be able to discover and examine for themselves very soon…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

It's no comparison to the facilities at the prem grounds, but Pompey's game has just been called off.

          Not that I've heard.

I'll stress again though, the beautiful proud old lady that is Fratton Park is no barometer for Premier League grounds!

They cancelled Sheff Utds game even though the pitch is usable due to 'safety concerns'. Worrying trend that.

All this anti Russia talk is most amusing I must say. I mean seriusly ye guys keep citing it as being "racist", which it is but ffs South Africa JUST hosted the tournament! At least Russia has a strong footballing tradition and hasn't hosted it before so I say fair play to them.
Spain had it too recently so shouldnt have been considered.
England having it would've been cool but it wasn't to be an ye have had it before.
Holland and Belgium would've been my personal favourite, I thought Euro 2000 wsas brilliant (unlike Euro 96)

But giving 2022 to Qatar, im sorry it's a complete and utter joke. No footballing tradition, never qualified for a major tournament, no noteworthy international players.
What do they have? LOADSA MONEYYYYY!!! way to go FIFA ya shower of shites!

Sorry for England, I see most people here are extremely disappointed. Actually, I would not mind if England got it, it could be a great WC and I would be happy to go there. But Russia got it and I'm happy about it.
However, it's amazing how much people have a negative perception of Russia knowing absolutely nothing about it. Some comments just made my day as some of the "facts" about Russia are absolutely ridiculous. There are a lot of problems in Russia, but most of them seem to be seriously exaggerated and hopefully will be taken under control by 2018. The overall situation is definitely better than in South Africa and will improve further by 2018. It will be a great World Cup, I'm pretty sure.

Fair enough, good luck to you!

All I'm saying is that the whole way this has come out and the comments that were made by certain people (blatter in particular) that will look very messy in hindsight.

Like I said, good luck to you and hopefully this cup will help improve the problems with press freedom (which undoubtedly do exist) and I hope you get to see one of the games! 😀

The problems with free press will be solved in a natural way: internet expansion + people learning foreign languages. The sooner the government realises it, the better it is for the government.

Still not convinced by that 100%, again see China for a reason why....

The China scenario seems to be impossible for Russia already I think. If the government wanted to impose restrictions in Internet they should have done it earlier. Now it's already too late, it went too far... At least, I hope so 🙂

That's the one I'm actually worried about. There are 8 years to do something about it.
        But:
        1) On the stadiums, African teams are not likely to be insulted as most racists are stupid idiots who are therefore poor and would not be able to afford a ticket to a World Cup game.
        2) The security measures will be very strict during the World Cup. So, it should be pretty safe.
        3) The situation is not that bad in reality. There are a lot of people of different colors and nationalities who live in big Russian cities nowadays. Normally, all they should do is to avoid late regional trains and walks in the late hours in the "bad" districts. That's it.
        4) "Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Nigeria fans" are not the fans who would go to any country in big crowds anyway.
But there is a lot to be done with racism, that's true.

The world changes a lot in 8 years though. You may find Russia a very different place with a different political and social ethos come 2018.

As for Qatar, this was probabl FIFA's golden opportunity to hold the tournament in the middle east.

I would guess the stadia they build will be the most up to date plushest arena's of their time. They will likely also be domed with air con so the players won't wilt in the heat during afternoon games.

As for the bribery angle. Well I think it certainly goes on and no doubt plays a significant part of the judging process, just like the olympics.

I not convinced that any of the committee's in Zurich today haven't given, shall we say, some form of 'kickback' in order to persuade the voting in their favour.

I just think that's endemic of this whole process. It is what it is, as the great and beloved Bill Belichick would say.

no no...the crime rate Qatar is quite low, on the norm. But Qatar is surrounded by Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia (to literally name the three largest countries engulfing the tiny nation) Places that have much much larger amounts of recorded instances of violent mugging and kidnapping. An enormous event of this kind will see preparation for all the bad guys...we just have to hope that good guys are a step ahead.

With Mancini so fond of the 3 holding mids he adds a lot of width to the side which helps. Looking at doing Coleman to him this week myself.

Quick thought on the strange voting patterns with the votes switching from Belgium/Holland to Russia.

Perhaps the Russians had 11 votes they knew they could count on but were worried that if England were still in they would claim the votes of the remaining voters as they went through the rounds.

Russia and someone else they had under their dirty paws could have deliberately voted Belgium/Holland knowing it may help knock out Spain or England who were there main rivals and particularly England who were rumoured to pick up the belgium/holland votes if they went out.
