It’s back on. Sergio Aguero’s finishing and the toil and creativity of Carlos Tevez come to the fore as City rout the Baggies, closing the gap on United thanks to Wigan’s shock 1-0 win at the DW Stadium. Gameweek 33 closed with a night of intrigue and our members can now digest our selection of the key statistics from all ten matches, along with our punt on where the Fantasy Premier League bonus points will be heading…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Norwich are on a solid 43 pts though and not much to play for... I can actually see a flood of goal, especially if they line up as they did yesterday with Tevez, Aguero, Nasri and Silva floating around the pitch. Norwich defenders aren't that known for technical ability tbh... 🙂

I will put Weiman and Silva for GW 34

Does anybody agree with me ?

I think premier league will be very interesting until the end of the seson. Also money for the TV rights will increase if MAN UTD doesn’t win against Villa @ Old Trafford…

MAN CITY can easaly beat Norwitch and there is MAN CITY – MAN UTD game who will watch all the planet if there is tight chances for title champion…

I think MAN UTD is now physicly wasted, and on the other hand, unfortunately, money is money in football.

Sir Alex Ferguson will need truck full of chewing gum for the next games i think…

Please comments and oppinions are very welcome

    All the best from Belgrade,

    Djaphex

la-liga boasts rightfully of 2 of the best teams of the world. But the rest of the la-liga is indeed exceptionally weak. Compare that to the premier league where you have a top-6 against whom results can swing either way at any point of time, and you have teams like stoke and swansea, everton and even norwich who perform exceptionally well against the big teams.

Exceptionally weak? I must have imagined Man Utd getting schooled by Bilbao.. and the fact that there are 2 teams in the latter stages of the Europa League, a competition viewed with scorn but which English teams can't seem to win.

Because they don't care. How could utd even be happy with winning europa. Seriously to me winning the europa is hardly worth of any recognition. I just can't take the competition seriously. In fact it's like mocking utd.

I am sure you disagree but I really believe that losing to Bilbao was clearly an exception to the rule. How many other sides from the La Liga ended up in the quarterfinals of UCL 2005 onwards. Barcelona, sometimes Valencia and Madrid but can't remember anyone else. But the premier league sides (the ex big 4) have always reached that level.

The Utd team beaten by Bilbao was a strong one. I take the point you're trying to make but don't agree I'm afraid.

It's useless looking back to 2005 as a gauge of strength of the respective leagues. Since then the Spanish sides have improved dramatically and some of the top English clubs (particularly Liverpool) no longer compete at that level. Take this season as an example and there was one English team in the QF of the UCL, and Chelsea had a relatively easy run to get there.

weak? I think not. I don't know if you saw Bilbao (7th) tear Man Utd (1st) apart twice but I think that shows the league isn't weak.

It's a slightly different philosophy of football which leads to more goals .... I wish the PL was more like that.

No, I think this was an exception to the rule. Look at the performance of the premier league teams during the course of the last 6 years. Almost always 3 out of the 4 teams in the CL end up reaching the quarter final. The premier league teams are clearly better.

Perhaps ... time will tell I suppose. I think English clubs performance in CL was partly due to Man City being seeded 4th in their group - if they'd been in pot 1, I would have thought they'd have gone through to the knockouts.

To say La Liga is weak is an insult to that league though to be honest.

This is a common misundestanding. 920 goals scored in 329 games in PL. 860 goals scored in 313 games in La Liga.

That's 2,80 goals per game in PL and 2,75 goals per game in La Liga.

why let actual facts get in the way of the truth?

            for example:

number of teams that have won the EPL since 1992: 5
number of teams that have won La Liga since 1992: 5

number of teams that have won the EPL since 2004: 2
number of teams that have won La Liga since 2004: 2

and yet EPL is the most open league in the world and La Liga is just a glorified SPL. just because Sky tells something, it doesn't mean it's right 😉

Only reason la liga is weak is because all the players move to Real and Barca. I don't think the other 18 teams are THAT much worse than the mid and lower table teams in the premier league. but Barca and Real are THAT much (and more) better than Utd, City, Arsenal, Chelsea.

Well he got better obviously. He's still the second best player by a million miles so no reason why he couldn't do that in the premier league.

I doubt anyone can do that in the premier league.

Top goal scorer in EPL often has around 20-25 goals over the season, whereas in La Liga people are scoring 40+.

I think EPL definitely has a higher standard, generally, or rather there is a smaller difference between top and bottom team. Wigan beating Utd is a perfect example for me of why the EPL is the best, most competitive league in the world. Literally anything can and does happen

Any ideas on what to do with this lot?

    Vorm Sorensen
    Baines BAE Verm Evans Caulker
    Bale Demps Valencia McClean Siggy
    Rooney RVP Crouch

0.0 in the bank & 2 free transfers.. A couple of options I have considered is

    A) Crouch -> Bendtner, save 1 transfer..

    B) Bale -> Sess & Crouch -> Any striker up to 8.0m

    C) Bale -> Walcott & Crouch -> Hoilett (Any striker 5.9 or under)

    Any other suggestions?

I actually had an inferior rival game, which had players with heads you could push down and they'd swing a leg at the ball - anyone remember what that was called? The goalie was on a long stick which went through the back of the goal, he was in a permanent diving position.

gw19 - Verm gets booked by mistake instead of Koscielny and goes off injured after 53 mins in a 1-0 win for zero points. He was my captain. 🙁

Their fixtures might look a thing of beauty but they don't atm. I think one is enough and even then it depends on the FA Cup. If they beat Chelsea and reach the final the second DGW match will be a write off as it comes 3 days before the final.

Even if they don't reach the final they play Sat and Tue which is a similarly short space between ,atches as the Norwich game this week so VDV will rotate with the likes of Saha/Defoe/Ade

Yep, it's been in the planning for a while now. Momentarily flirted with Arteta this week, but Sess seems the better option, especially since I have Walcott & RVP and no SUN attack. You never know though, McClean could still easily outscore Sess this week!

Oh dear 🙁 I also have an issue with Richards. Might end up with only 6 players at the moment 😕

Anyone tempted with Chelsea players for the DGW...thinking they may under preform when Barca hammer them in the CL, leaving them with little to play for, for the rest of the season.

I really hope these BPs are correct.

It'll make a 77 finish, which whilst will be beaten by a hell of a lot on here, should surely be a green arrow.

77 is a good score, unless you're leading overall it'll be a big green arrow.

I have Turner & Sess. FTs are too value now. Still think the Sunderland pair will outscore them easily especially this week.
