Jordi Gomez and Franco Di Santo stun the Emirates as Wigan’s remarkable run of form shows little sign of abating. Robin Van Persie has yet another off day, while Thomas Vermaelen picks up his sixth goal of the season as the Latics add Arsenal to their recent list of impressive scalps:

Robin Van Persie
Last night’s blank took the Dutchman’s recent tally to a single goal in the last six matches – a penalty in the 3-0 win at Wolves in Gameweek 33. While Wayne Rooney continues to grab the goals and Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez tear defences apart for City, Van Persie’s form is a major concern for his Fantasy owners. A home clash against Chelsea still looks obliging, given his hat-trick at the Bridge earlier this season but, with Arsenal facing a trip to Stoke in Gameweek 36 and the likes of Papiss Cisse and Nikica Jelavic both in strong form and afforded a pair of fixtures apiece, the idea of offloading Van Persie is a ploy many Fantasy managers are currently considering as his campaign stutters to a close. It’s a risky tactic, though; Arsenal have Norwich and West Brom in the final two Gameweeks, however, affording the Gunners skipper plenty opportunity to pick up the points and prove the doubters wrong.

Thomas Vermaelen
The Belgian’s consolation goal for the Gunners brought his recent tally to three in the last seven Gameweeks as he continues to offer strong value at a price of 7.1. Vermaelen has now notched six times in just 25 appearances this term – two more than John Terry and Leighton Baines for defenders – and, with Laurent Koscielny now back from suspension, Arsenal are likely to more solid defensively going into the final four Gameweeks, with Johan Djourou surely returning to the bench. An average of 4.9 points per game is third best for the London outfit, behind Van Persie and Theo Walcott; if Vermaelen can stay injury-free next term, he looks set for significant investment.

Jordi Gomez
A minor knock to Shaun Maloney proved a blessing in disguise for the Latics last night. Robert Martinez handed the Spaniard his first start since Gameweek 28 and he didn’t disappoint. Gomez played a pivotal role in the 2-1 in, providing an assist for Franco Di Santo’s opener before notching his side’s second as Wigan won for the fourth time in the last five Gameweeks. The Latics have also racked up victories against Liverpool, Stoke and United, highlighting just how tricky the final hurdle can be for Fantasy managers, with the idea of playing the fixtures thrown firmly out the window.

While many will be confident of handing Clint Dempsey the captain’s armband next weekend as Wigan travel to the Cottage, the recent run of wins suggests Martinez’s men will be anything but pushovers. Although a Gameweek 36 home clash against Newcastle could prove problematic, the final two games of the season pit the in-form outfit against Blackburn and Wolves, suggesting another great escape could be firmly on the cards.

Fed up of captaining the wrong man out of Rooney and RVP. My rival chose right and I chose wrong last week, cost me big time...

So it's got to be Papiss this week and next for me I reckon... 🙂

Morning peeps, how are we all?

Sorry I've not been around much lately and to suddenly bombard you with a question, but I really could do with some objective opinions for GW36.

I've come up with the following options (the others up front are Dempsey, Bale, Walcott, Sigurdsson):

    A) RVP, Rooney, Cisse, Sessegnon

    B) RVP, Rooney, Adebayor, Ben Arfa

    C) RVP, Adebayor, Cisse, Valencia

Which do you reckon looks best?

    Muchas gracias

I already have 2 Newc so can have either HBA or Cisse, but which ever way round it still makes 3 Newcastle.

It's really whether I'm better off with Cisse or HBA and whether to keep Rooney or Adebayor. Still undecided.

Only Silva. I brought him last week as a one week punt and was going to transfer out this week for Dempsey, but now I'm keeping him this week to see what they can do against Wolves.

How about you - going for mega-points with Tevez/Aguero?

I would like to have a punt on kun/tevez. Massive possible returns...

That's the question, and I think I'm going form over fixtures and choosing Rooney.
I don't actually like RVP's fixtures. Chelsea are a much stronger team these days, and Stoke away is always tough, because they just park the bus against the big teams

Stoke have conceeded against most teams recently, they aren't the Stoke from last year that's for sure.

It's a good point, they are quite leaky. However they played Man City, Tottenham and Chelsea recently, and only conceded 1 goals in each (and two of those matches were away)

          It's a really tough call

Hey lads, would really appreciate some help 🙂

    Which would you prefer?

    A) RVP > Aguero

    B) Sess > Moses (to make funds)
    Cisse > Aguero
    for a -4 hit

Team is linked if you want, but it's pretty generic! 😛

    Cheers, really appreciate the feedback

Cisse has a good fixture and is home. Would never do the hit. Rvp or rooney to aguero if you want. Or maybe save the transfer and bring in bale and ade for frees next week.

OK I'm trying to make up 12 points on the leader of my mini league where we both have simular teams.

    We both have
Krul, Vermaelen, Evans, Turner, NCW defender
    Sess, Valencia, Rooney, RvP

    Differences come down to

    Me: Opponent:
    Mignolet Vorm
    Caulker Kelly
    Dempsey Walcott
    VdV Bale
    McClean Siggy
    Yakubu Cisse

I wondering where I'm going to pick up point on him and not lose out to Cisse.
I currently have 1.3 in the bank and 1 FT.

    Options I can think of
McClean > Ben Arfa (leaves me 0.1)
    Yak > Jelavic

    thanks

No, way too harsh. Some people can't check FPL very often with family, work and other such things. Some people like to pick a team and then check it after a few months to see how its doing. They couldn't do that

      would you care to elaborate?

at this stage of the season, the dead teams might get a top GW score every now and again but their overall rank is 1.5m or lower.

would that make you a better manager? no. you'd just look better in the rankings.

Fulham defensively maybe but Dempsey at the Cottage can score against anyone. Wigan won't win every game they play (I don't think?).

Looking at it again myself, one extra reason to play Dempsey is that he must be very disappointed to have been overlooked for the player of the year nominations, so he might take it out on Wigan.
Also, Wigan were fighting for their lives the last few weeks, now that they've a bit of breathing room, they mightn't play to the same level. A bit like Swansea after their 3 successive wins brought them to relative safety and then they had a mini-collapse.

Cheers dude. I still can't really decide between Tevez and Aguero so i'm happy to get both in. Tevez has the style of play which can sometimes get him a goal from nowhere but they both are equally good.
