Jordi Gomez and Franco Di Santo stun the Emirates as Wiganโ€™s remarkable run of form shows little sign of abating. Robin Van Persie has yet another off day, while Thomas Vermaelen picks up his sixth goal of the season as the Latics add Arsenal to their recent list of impressive scalps:

Robin Van Persie
Last nightโ€™s blank took the Dutchmanโ€™s recent tally to a single goal in the last six matches โ€“ a penalty in the 3-0 win at Wolves in Gameweek 33. While Wayne Rooney continues to grab the goals and Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez tear defences apart for City, Van Persieโ€™s form is a major concern for his Fantasy owners. A home clash against Chelsea still looks obliging, given his hat-trick at the Bridge earlier this season but, with Arsenal facing a trip to Stoke in Gameweek 36 and the likes of Papiss Cisse and Nikica Jelavic both in strong form and afforded a pair of fixtures apiece, the idea of offloading Van Persie is a ploy many Fantasy managers are currently considering as his campaign stutters to a close. It’s a risky tactic, though; Arsenal have Norwich and West Brom in the final two Gameweeks, however, affording the Gunners skipper plenty opportunity to pick up the points and prove the doubters wrong.

Thomas Vermaelen
The Belgianโ€™s consolation goal for the Gunners brought his recent tally to three in the last seven Gameweeks as he continues to offer strong value at a price of 7.1. Vermaelen has now notched six times in just 25 appearances this term โ€“ two more than John Terry and Leighton Baines for defenders โ€“ and, with Laurent Koscielny now back from suspension, Arsenal are likely to more solid defensively going into the final four Gameweeks, with Johan Djourou surely returning to the bench. An average of 4.9 points per game is third best for the London outfit, behind Van Persie and Theo Walcott; if Vermaelen can stay injury-free next term, he looks set for significant investment.

Jordi Gomez
A minor knock to Shaun Maloney proved a blessing in disguise for the Latics last night. Robert Martinez handed the Spaniard his first start since Gameweek 28 and he didnโ€™t disappoint. Gomez played a pivotal role in the 2-1 in, providing an assist for Franco Di Santoโ€™s opener before notching his sideโ€™s second as Wigan won for the fourth time in the last five Gameweeks. The Latics have also racked up victories against Liverpool, Stoke and United, highlighting just how tricky the final hurdle can be for Fantasy managers, with the idea of playing the fixtures thrown firmly out the window.

While many will be confident of handing Clint Dempsey the captainโ€™s armband next weekend as Wigan travel to the Cottage, the recent run of wins suggests Martinezโ€™s men will be anything but pushovers. Although a Gameweek 36 home clash against Newcastle could prove problematic, the final two games of the season pit the in-form outfit against Blackburn and Wolves, suggesting another great escape could be firmly on the cards.

      I'm thinking the same.

Plus Aguero gets more minutes and plays further up. So far in the last 2 games, Aguero has outscored him 31 points to 26. I'm going for Aguero

Cos Aguero blows hot and cold and seems to get tired playing too many games whereas Tevez just scored a hat-trick has looked good every minute he's been back and Mancini himself is surprised by his stamina for two games in 4 days!

Still I don't really trust either of'em to remain consistant but would mebbe plump for Aguero out the two.

      Is Tevez the better differential??

Team value risen by 1.2m in 1 GW... I've forgot checking this as much as I used to.

Another thing I've eventually learned for next season - I'm not going to bother too much about making transfers too early. If your team does well and your rank is good, it stands to reason that you've brought the right players in - so your value and profit will increase anyway.

      -1

I'm prob going to lose my mini-league because my opponent has so much more cash than me (made transfers early etc). You cant get all the players right before their prices start to balloon.

He now has c£5m more than me and can therefore either match my trades, or worse, bring better players in when it matters

I've prob been too cautious this season sadly

Man City's recent upturn in performances has somewhat made me re-think my plans. I currently have no Man City attacking players and am now worried of a goal fest against Wolves, current front 8 is :-

    Sess / Valencia / Siggy / Dempsey / Bale
    RVP / Suarez / Rooney

Anything immediately jump out at you that could be changed. Currently have £0.3 in the bank

      Sess > HBA
      Suarez > Aguero

This jumps out at me but doing the math I think you'd be 0.1-0.3 short dependent on sell prices.

If not, Valencia > HBA and Suarez > Aguero/Tevez could be worth it.

A: Walcott >> Dempsey ... allowed me to keep Valencia vs EVE

B: Sess. + Valencia >> Dempsey + HBA ... keep Walcott vs CHE.

    C: Sess. + Vermaelen >> Dempsey + 5.0mil DF ... keep both Walcott & Valencia

FPL Open & Elite 64 Updated.

Quarter Final Stage : only 1 team left with a chance to do the double.

The glamour tie in the FPL Open is Sporting vs Fuzzy.

The glamour tie in the Elite 64 is Stufail vs "Aardvarks".
Stufail is the big favourite if he can get past this round as he is the highest seed & still has his Wildcard.

REPOST - accidently put this on the last article.

What’s everyone doing for captaincy this week? Rooney v everton and rvp against Chelsea are not the most inspiring choices.

I think for those preserving a lead these are the best:

Dempsey surely must score against Wigan.
    Cisse is another good shout.

    For those chasing a lead:

Ageuro or Tevez look great options.

I'd keep Theo as Chelsea could be tired from chasing Barca around the bridge. However he has looked out of sorts recently. Even after he scored against Wolves he was poor in his passing and decision making.

With a 15 point lead, I'd take a punt on a City forward as captain.

They do look a bit light in defence. The best scenario for RVP owners is that Chelsea have a good 1st leg against Barca so the tie is very much still on. With the 2nd leg on the following Tuesday RDM will have to play a second string team at the Emirates to protect his players for the CL.

Nah, 1 goal in the last 6 and blank vs Wigan swings it for me - won't get rid but won't captain for the time being

    Advice please...

Is this team good enough to go into GW35 with, or shall I transfer in a DGW player (Cisse/Dempsey etc) early...

    Bogdan
    Vermaelen Evans Simpson
    Walcott Bale Valencia Siggy
    RVP Rooney Aguero(C)

Subs - Mignolet, Mcclean, Caulker, Cahill

    Any replies much appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚

Dempsey has WIGAN and then his DGW.

If you're bringing him in, it kinda makes sense to do it this GW... even though Wigan have hit some form, you also have to look at Dempsey's home form.

Not for me. Too many assists of the assists for him to be worth his value.

My problem is I have Young to replace looks major rotation risk now:
          I figure my options are
A Dempsey playing a resurgent Wigan with DGW to follow
B Ben Afra playing Stoke (H) plus DGW
C Silva for Man city cover v Wolves but problem playing Man U after only single game week.

Yeah not bad at all actually. I guess he is a good alternative if you are choosing not to bother with Kun or Tevez.

Thing is I really want Rooney for Swans(h) so don't want to lose him, but also want some Citeh player for Wolves fixture.

Thanks thats three people who have opted for A and all are in the top 10k so i will follow the advice.

Only worry regarding Rooney is that everton could have a fa cup hangover and soo many people are writing off wolves city as a bloodbath that its surly destined to be a modest affair ๐Ÿ˜€

Who do you guys think are likely to score the most points over the next 2 gameweeks from Aston Villa and Bolton? I have Collins for Villa already, but would like to get another from each team as I have 2 free transfers to use this week.

    Thanks

6, 9 and 26 are the points deficits Im chasing at second place in my MLs. It'd be nice to see 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 in that right side table come to end of the season ๐Ÿ™‚

Can anyone explain RVP only scoring 1 in 6? Or was it just inevitable that he couldn't maintain such a high rate of scoring?

Tevez vs Man U ... forgetting whether you own him or not, do you think he'll start GW36?

It's a tricky one IMO. Mancini has said he'll never play for the club again, then he plays... then does he face the manager who got rid even though he was scoring goals (suggesting Fergie had a problem with him too).

It'll be an interesting match that's for sure and I can totally see Man U settling for the draw. 0-0 prediction!

Conceding 5 is more likely than CS for ManU in that match. They are nowhere near City in terms of quality, so they can rely on form only, but not this time, City will destroy them, it's up to ManU to win their other games.

Id keep Wally against a tired and hopefully wounded Chelsea. With your points lead I think you can afford a punt on a city forward.
