Jordi Gomez and Franco Di Santo stun the Emirates as Wigan’s remarkable run of form shows little sign of abating. Robin Van Persie has yet another off day, while Thomas Vermaelen picks up his sixth goal of the season as the Latics add Arsenal to their recent list of impressive scalps:

Robin Van Persie
Last night’s blank took the Dutchman’s recent tally to a single goal in the last six matches – a penalty in the 3-0 win at Wolves in Gameweek 33. While Wayne Rooney continues to grab the goals and Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez tear defences apart for City, Van Persie’s form is a major concern for his Fantasy owners. A home clash against Chelsea still looks obliging, given his hat-trick at the Bridge earlier this season but, with Arsenal facing a trip to Stoke in Gameweek 36 and the likes of Papiss Cisse and Nikica Jelavic both in strong form and afforded a pair of fixtures apiece, the idea of offloading Van Persie is a ploy many Fantasy managers are currently considering as his campaign stutters to a close. It’s a risky tactic, though; Arsenal have Norwich and West Brom in the final two Gameweeks, however, affording the Gunners skipper plenty opportunity to pick up the points and prove the doubters wrong.

Thomas Vermaelen
The Belgian’s consolation goal for the Gunners brought his recent tally to three in the last seven Gameweeks as he continues to offer strong value at a price of 7.1. Vermaelen has now notched six times in just 25 appearances this term – two more than John Terry and Leighton Baines for defenders – and, with Laurent Koscielny now back from suspension, Arsenal are likely to more solid defensively going into the final four Gameweeks, with Johan Djourou surely returning to the bench. An average of 4.9 points per game is third best for the London outfit, behind Van Persie and Theo Walcott; if Vermaelen can stay injury-free next term, he looks set for significant investment.

Jordi Gomez
A minor knock to Shaun Maloney proved a blessing in disguise for the Latics last night. Robert Martinez handed the Spaniard his first start since Gameweek 28 and he didn’t disappoint. Gomez played a pivotal role in the 2-1 in, providing an assist for Franco Di Santo’s opener before notching his side’s second as Wigan won for the fourth time in the last five Gameweeks. The Latics have also racked up victories against Liverpool, Stoke and United, highlighting just how tricky the final hurdle can be for Fantasy managers, with the idea of playing the fixtures thrown firmly out the window.

While many will be confident of handing Clint Dempsey the captain’s armband next weekend as Wigan travel to the Cottage, the recent run of wins suggests Martinez’s men will be anything but pushovers. Although a Gameweek 36 home clash against Newcastle could prove problematic, the final two games of the season pit the in-form outfit against Blackburn and Wolves, suggesting another great escape could be firmly on the cards.

    Ok planning ahead for DGW, if I sit tight this week I will have two transfers for next week...

    Thinking of either Hart and Sinclair to Sorenson and Dempsey, or Cech and HBA, depending if Sorenson gets a game this week and price rises as I only have 0.1 to spare for the first transfer.

    This will give me six DGW'ers assuming I play BAE and Simpson and bench two of Verm, Evans and Naylor... Others are Bale and Cisse.

    Sound like a plan?

        i have a strong midfield this week:

        Ryo, Bale, Valencia, Siggy, Dempsey. means i have to bench a striker.

    I have 3 tranfers between now and the DGW… can’t thinking of who else I want other than Ade and Baines… so I have 1 extra transfer…

    Current team:
    Schwarz/Vorm
    Vem, Evans, Simpson, Kelly, Turner
    Valencia, Walcott, Bale, Dempsey, Siggy
    RVP, Cisse, Rooney

    Which will likely return me more points?

    A)
    GW35: Rooney -> Aguero (C)
    GW36: Aguero -> Ade, Turner -> Baines

    B)
    GW35: Rooney -> Ade

    Well and truly stumped for this week lads. Team is linked, any advice much appreciated.

    My team looks fine on paper, but I fear not having certain players. Demps/Bale/HBA/Cisse to be precise.

    I’m looking at these moves.

    Walcott -> Demps/Bale
    Sess -> HBA
    Rooney -> Cisse
    Or save a trannie. (from a life of despair)

      Personally i have Bale Demps and cisse and have just brought in HBA. This week u will be fine but next week i would say u need to have all of them.

      This week as a priority i would say Demps or Cisse. Then you will need to take at least 1 hit for next week to get those 4 in.

      Who are ur current 3 strikers?

        Aguero Rooney and RVP

        I'm edging towards Rooney to Cisse this week and then next week getting Bale and Adebayor.

        I don't mind taking a 4 pt hit this week and next week if its worth it. Got the cushion.

          Rooney has a great fixture and could do well, i would get RVP out this week for Cisse....

          I did RVP to AGuero just now and i am exciited!

          Also dont like Adebayor, Arry has VDV Defoe and Saha all to juggle and i doubt he will play anywhere near 180 mins.

            RVP vs a tired and depleted Chelsea back line? Arrgh. I don't know what to do.

            There are about 10 midfielders and 6 strikers who could score big this week, AND I WANT THEM ALL.

                Yep, that was pretty much what i'd planned to do all last week. Until I saw Wigan last night....

                Do you not think Walcott could score more against a knackered Chelsea defence? Fulham haven't exactly got anything to play for and will probably be overrun by a spirited Wigan....

    Hi guys.

    Krul. Mignolet
    Evans, Caulker, Simpson, Verm, Collins
    Dempsey, Bale, Valencia, Sigurdsson, McClean
    RvP, Rooney, Adebayor

    1FT and using my WC GW36.

    Does McClean > Petrov look the best option? What would you do?

        Goes to show how forward planning can mess your team up. Sigurdsson wasn't expected to keep his goalscoring form up back when i planned my transfers when the DGWs were announced. :/

          I'm in the same boat. I want to get rid of Sess, but he's my only real bench fodder at the moment. If I swap him for say HBA, I won't have a clue who to bench.

            As a Spurs fan, i fancy us to lose to QPR but at the same time our players are so hard to bench because they are potentially explosive whoever they play. Having this FT in my pocket whilst using my WC next week. I have to use it. People'd love to have an unused transfer at this point, i'll trade it with someone for 20 points. *ahem*

            I can see myself getting rid of Rooney for Tevez or something. :/

              And as a United fan I feel exactly the same way about Rooney and Valencia. Everton could be a tight game but benching either of them two is daft. They could easily still get something in a must win game.

              Rooney to Augero (c). I love tevez but judging from last 2 games I think Kun is in better form. Tevez 3 gls, 1 cracker near post from 25 yrds out (unlikely to replicate), 1 rebound header over a virtually planted/pushed defender and a poor pass back by Norwich defender for an easy 3rd. Kun will be the danger man vs Wolves imo. Would be a little worried abt Ade plus Bale away at QPR as well, Ade to Kun possible?

    Agrred that The City Attack IN for RVP or ROO depends if you are chasing... I AM!! 30 points behind and need to win this.

    Have just done 2 FTs and am lined up like this:

    Vorm(bol)
    SIMPSON(STO) Evans(EVE) Richards (Wol)
    DEMPSEY(WIG) Valencia (EVE) Siggy (Bol) BENARFA (STO)
    CISSE (STO) Rooney (EVE) Aguero (Wol) (CCCC)

    Mignolet (Avl) BALE (qpr) Taylor (Bol) Hanley (NOR)

    Starting Line Ok? Hope Rchards Starts...

    NEXT week i will do Hanley + Richards -> Baines + BAE for a 4pt hit.....

    Afternoon All. plan was always to ship either Valencia or Walcott to Dempsey this week depending on who played the poorest yet after watching both games this weekend I can't decide who was worse.

    Surely have to get Dempsey this week, even if it is for a 4 point hit don't I? anyone in my shoes know what they're doing?

      Wigan(a) is now one of the worst 3 fixtures to be facing. The other fixture is Chelsea(a), a very tough dogged game I reckon, the loser will be very unlikely to get a CL place. I can't see Cisse getting any more than 9 pts in the DW and a good chance of just 4. Newcastle lost 3-0 at home to Chelsea and only beat Wigan 1-0 at home, so 1 goal in 2 home games against their GW36 opponents.

    I'm leaning towards this XI:

    Vorm
    Lescott Evans Caulker
    Dempsey Bale Siggy Valenica
    Rooney Cisse RvP

    Mignolet, Vermaelen, McClean, Simpson

    Is Vermaelen goal threat good enough to start him instead of Caulker? U think Nwcstle will get a CS against Stoke?

    Hi Folks,

    Any thoughts much appreciated.....

    Current Team

    --------------------- Vorm ------------------------

    ------ Lescott ------- Verm ------ Evans ------

    --- Sess --- McClean --- Walcott --- Valencia --- Siggy

    --------- RVP ---------- Rooney -------

    ---- Mignolet ------ Graham --- Kelly --- Shawcross

    Protecting a very slight lead (3 points) in my ML. Both 2nd & 3rd have RVP/Rooney/Cisse after gw 34 transfers

    2 free transfers this gw

    Going to do Sess --> Dempsey

    Thinking about doing the following at the cost of 4 points ? Worried about Cisse at home to Stoke....

    Walcott --> Ben Arfa
    Graham --> Cisse

    Good or bad idea ?

    Cheers

    Udinese and Di Natale have such class. Apparently many footballers in Serie A and B are going to give some of their weekly salaries into a bank in Morosinis sisters name.

    Couldnt see that happen in the EPL
