With just four Gameweeks left of the season, Fantasy managers are looking at every viable option available as a means to climb up the rankings and win that crucial mini-league title. Many will be throwing caution to the wind at this point in order to claw back their rivals’ leads and, with plenty of double Gameweeks on the horizon, even Aston Villa’s assets are coming under scrutiny.

Let’s face it – the midlands outfit have hardly been the most potent of Fantasy sides this term. The fact that Gabby Agbonlahor is still their top scoring player despite returning a single assist since Gameweek 11 speaks volumes for their insipid season. As the likes of Wigan have recently shown, however, there’s potential near the bottom of the table as teams scrap for survival and, with two home clashes in Gameweek 35, Villa are blinking – albeit briefly – on Fantasy managers’ radars ahead of the weekend’s schedule.

The hunt for options amongst the midlands squad leads us to James Collins. A look at his recent home performances highlights the fact that the Villa centre-half has returned at least six points in two of his last three at Villa Park – a clean sheet against Fulham and a goal against Chelsea. While Villa may have shipped four at United last weekend, they’ll be more optimistic heading into their games against Sunderland and Bolton – Martin O’Neill’s side have failed to score in their last three, while Bolton have been almost as poor in attack, with no goals in their previous two matches.

So far this week, over 10,000 Fantasy managers have taken a punt on the 5.3 priced defender, an indication of the faith held in his potential. Collins’ game also seems suited to the EA SPORTS PPI scoring system; he’s picked up a total of 12 bonus points over the course of the campaign – only six defenders have earned more this term.

With regular sidekick Richard Dunne still out with a collarbone injury, Collins’ resilience and will-to-win in the heart of the Villains backline will be key over these next crucial two matches. McLeish will be more than aware that back-to-back victories would all but clinch their survival and somewhat endear him to the home faithful, thus relieving the pressure ahead of their remaining three fixtures (wba, TOT, nor).

Nice list when you put it like that. Not convinced with Lamps/Mata with the cup final 3 days after the 2nd DGW match though.

And Spurs are far from convincing atm. Surely they get the finger out though with a CL place at stake.

Yeah Chelsea players are surprisingly the ones I will least likely to invest in even though they've arguably got the better run in.

I expect mata/Terry/Cole will figure in both personally.

Who would you sub out of this midfield and attack? Going to play 3-4-3.

    Siggy, Demps, Valencia, Walcott, HBA
    Cisse, RVP, Rooney

I stil lmight change Rooney for Tevez but Dempsey is my only certainty for midfield at the moment. Siggy is away of course but it's Bolton and he seems to perform best away.

You think he'll play? I just logged on this morning and he's flagged as doubtful which made me start Vorm instead. Aguero is my captain yeah but knowing my luck he'll play 3 minutes towards the end. Contemplating Tony V as el capitan now Leighton's out of that game. Not sure what to do though. And Papiss is at home to Stoke.. TOO MANY CHOICES.

If there wasn't such an attractive DGW in GW36 I'd most likely be bringing Collins in this week. But getting Collins now means 1 less DGWer from a good team in GW36, so that means i'll be watching the Collins train chugg on by. Don't do anything crazy like score and keep a clean sheet now James.

Outside of Chelsea and Spurs the Villa DGW is the best one though. I mean they are a crap team but the actual fixtures for a DGW are fantastic. I'm thinking Krul > Given this week.

It's only City that have stopped Rooney getting a goal/assist or BAP's at Old Trafford this season.

After the disappointment of last week, plus the fact that Tony V and Rooney link up very well, I'm going for the gamble.

None other options look that great in my team, so thinking, why the hell not.

I still have a nagging doubt that he will rest one of them ahead of the Man City game....I can see Dzeko getting some time against Wolves...who, lets face it, are complete b*ll*cks.

That's the other concern I have.

Last time I had this feeling I thought that Mancini would rest Aguero and I still had Dzeko.

So I held off my Dzeko to Pog transfer.

Aguero didn't play, but Mancini decided to play Balotelli up front on his own.

Pog got the hatrick (to rub salt into the wounds, I transferred in Pog on the Saturday night, so before he actually scored it aswell).

    A) Rooney > Cisse

    B) Rooney, Surman > Cisse, Dempsey (bench Valencia) -4pts

If I did B) I'd have serious issues finding players to bench but I figure its worthwhile as there could be a lot of rotation in the final weeks. Dempsey gives me an extra DGWer so it should make up the hit in the end. The problem is though my rival has Dempsey and is 55 points ahead, we have plenty of other points of difference though.

Help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Well it can depend on whether you have Newcastle, Tottenham and Everton players elsewhere.

Personally I will have HBA, VDV and Bale, so my order would be 1. Jelavic 2. Papiss 3. Adebayor

NO other factors considered, I would rank them 1. Papiss 2. Jelavic 3. Adebayor

Wouldn't worry about Tevez being benched. Lovin Weimann. Can't really tell you what to do with the transfer, but I feel MCY attacking coverage is now necessary - Rooney looks the easiest to dispose of - could come back to bite a lot of us on the ass.

BAE. Spurs best route of attack is down the left wing, and BAE often teams up with Bale there. Best hope of attacking returns of the 3 defenders. Also slightly less likely to be rotated than Kaboul.
