With just four weeks of the season left, desperation is starting to kick in. In Wiganโ€™s case, that desperation seems to have spurred them on to go all out and produce their best football of the season, but for many Fantasy managers battling the odds in their own (equally important) leagues, that desperation needs a huge dollop of luck to go with it. A 50 point gap is not unassailable yet, but picking the same players from the same teams just wonโ€™t cut it; itโ€™s time to wheel out the previously unthinkable, the outrageously risky and the downright unexpectedโ€ฆ

David Dunn

Thereโ€™s no greater motivator than the threat of relegation, and after watching Wigan and QPR pick up some unexpected points recently, Blackburn will be scrambling to turn around their fortunes in a similar fashion. Norwich rock up to Ewood Park this weekend having already secured their premier league status, and fellow strugglers Wigan visit two weeks later – the feeling is that it is probably now or never for Steve Keanโ€™s men and the likes of Yakubu, Hoilett and David Dunn will all be instrumental if they are to pull off a great escape.

Fantasy football veterans will be more than familiar with Dunnโ€™s frustratingly inconsistent returns. Capable of pulling off a bumper haul if you catch him in a burst of form, the downside is the succession of niggling injuries that seem to plague the 32-year-old. With just four matches remaining, however, Dunn seems to be coming into form at just the right time and at his price of 6.2 and 0.2% ownership, we reckon the tricky midfielder is worth a punt despite the risks.

Tomas Rosicky

Arsenalโ€™s Renaissance man Tomas Rosicky epitomises the recent revival in his clubโ€™s fortunes; after spending 20 months out with a tendon problem, it was feared that Rosicky would never return to the same level but the Czech schemer has been back to his glorious best in recent games. As Arsenalโ€™s best player against Wigan, Rosicky would probably have been a shoo-in for this weekendโ€™s tie anyway, but with Mikel Arteta ruled out for the season and Yossi Benayoun ineligible to play against his parent club then he will surely be nailed on for the central role.

Chelsea will arrive at the Emirates just three days after a draining Champions league tie spent chasing the ball around their own half, and despite the recent resurgence under their new manager, Arsenal look like strong favourites to pick up the points. Another eight goal thriller would be a bit much to ask for, but if goals do arrive then Rosicky could prove to be huge differential considering his current price of 5.7, and low ownership of 1.2%.

Stephen Ireland

Villa can perhaps be forgiven their poor form considering their recent opponents, but this week is a huge test โ€“ Sunderland and Bolton park up at Villa Park having conceded 14 and 11 goals in their last five away games, and despite Villa recent impotence in front of goal, you have to fancy them to pick up at least a couple across the two games.

As the first name on the City team sheet (and many Fantasy football managers too) during the 08/09 season, Stephen Irelandโ€™s decline has been pretty spectacular, scraping together just 555 minutes of play last season without a single goal or assist. The potential is always there however, and with a regular starting role in his preferred position behind the striker, he looks the pick of the Villa players right now considering his low price of just 5.2.

I don't own Rooney, I have RVP and was 22pts behind previous week, now I am more than 40. Tevez could close the gap easily. I might save the transfer for a double GW player, but its so tempting. On the other hand I love my current captain Cisse

I ditched Valencia for Bale personally. I think Walcott can do well in the Chelsea and Stoke games. And with Everton and City coming up, united won't have masses of attacking potential.

Yeah, if I had the funds for Valencia -> Bale instead then I may do the same.

I fancy Valencia to do alright this week with P Neville at LB, and then I'd bench him next week.

We normally struggle at Stoke, and Chelsea are bang in form. Who knows though eh.

depends on how they look this weekend. but none of your other options really interested me. only dgw players im looking at getting in right now are potentially some combo of ade, vdv, bale, hba, bae?, baines?

i honestly don't think chelsea will be worth it - fatigue, rotation, qpr fighting to avoid relagation, newcastle team with cisse + barfa fighting for 4th. especially if you look at their schedule like ive said before (spurs, barca, arsenal, barca, qpr, newcastle, pool, pool)

of anyone i think vdv is worth the risk unless you wanna go hba instead and make some massive upgrades elsewhere in the next few weeks

Yeah I think Spurs are the best team to go for in the DGW, despite their form.

Don't fancy Barfa next week as it's a tough double and after that he has 2 very tough games. Also, Baines is supposedly out till GW38.

If I go BAE and Sess, then I have an easy route of Sess -> Walcott in GW36.
If I go Turner & VDV, then I'd have to lose one of VDV/Dempsey/Valencia/Bale for Walcott (which I don't like) and I also can't afford Turner -> Vermaelen.

Also concerned VDV won't start both games...

              same here.

i think its a tough double but at the same time i think they will be playing well and they are in form. plus chelsea may be resting people like i said for the cup final. i put the question mark by baines for that reason, with the question mark in front of bae cuz im not sure if i want him or not. not sure how spurs will hold up defensively, especially against a blackburn side which i think i heard the statistic was have been only shut out once this season!

i'm keeping mig but don't fancy any other sunderland players tbh! can't wait to get rid of sess next week either for hba, bale or vdv.

i'd rather have all those 4 for a week and have to lose one after then not have one of them. this way you can see how they all do and in case one gets hurt or somethign you have an easy swap out.

even if he doesn't start both games that will be as many games as sess plays but he has the potential to start both. and he could even come off the bench and do some damage in the last half hour or so

Evening all. I hope you've all come to a decision and I hope it's the right one.
Personally, I'm holding onto RVP/ Rooney.
If you have chosen Aguero or Tevez I hope you made the right choice...either (or both) could get double figures.
RVP and Rooney (imo) are equally as likely to score and pick up BPs so that's why I'm sticking. It's been a hard week ignoring all the City hype on here but I'm sticking to my guns. I'll have the mighty Micah playing as a right winger providing all the assists anyway ๐Ÿ˜‰

Good luck to all, and I really mean that. It all has come down to personal choice and whatever way the dice rolls I certainly won't be on here at the end of the GW gloating if my choice happens to be the best one. Many will do that though. That's the time to log off this place for a few hours and reflect.

    Good luck and good night.

Cheers RCA. I had to take the plunge really given my mini league situation. Had some blinding weeks recently to close gaps. Established 2 leads but still got a 62pt gap to chase down. So going gun ho for that and the PP cup is secondary as I am delighted to got as far.

Slight dilemma, hoping for some input please.
    My team as it stands....

    Vorm
    verm, jevans bardsley
    Siggy dempster theo val
    Cisse tevez (c) rvp

    friedel caulker mcclean Kelly
    0FT 4.2m in the bank

Don't fancy caulker nor bardsley this week and am playing Vorm over friedel.

Very tempted to do bardsley > cuellar for -4 hit. Can see a min of 1 cs and some baps. Rivals have Collins. Simpson is a good shout too but not sure about dgw cs.
