Martial fit to start for United as Traore returns to Wolves side and Lloris misses out

The final two fixtures of a truncated Gameweek 28 kick off simultaneously at 14:00 GMT.

Everton play host to Manchester United at Goodison Park, while Tottenham Hotspur face Wolverhampton Wanderers in north London.

The stand-out storyline on Merseyside is Anthony Martial‘s (£8.0m) inclusion in the United starting XI, three days after he missed out on the Red Devils’ Europa League win over Bruges with a thigh problem.

Martial wasn’t spotted at the team hotel ahead of this fixture but, not for the first time, a no-show at the Lowry didn’t translate into an absence from the United side.

Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m), the most-bought Fantasy Premier League asset of Gameweek 28, also starts today.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made only one alteration from last weekend’s win over Watford, with Scott McTominay (£4.9m) replacing the injured Daniel James (£5.8m).

Solskjaer said ahead of kick-off:

It was just a precaution on Thursday, [Martial] probably could have played. We didn’t take the risk though, knowing Odion was going to play well and there would be no problem.

[James] got a knock on Thursday but he’ll be fine for Thursday [against Derby in the FA Cup] or definitely next weekend so not too much to worry about.

Richarlison (£8.3m) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.3m) continue their partnership up top for the hosts but elsewhere, Carlo Ancelotti is proving increasingly difficult to second-guess.

The Italian has made five changes from the 3-2 defeat to Arsenal, with Theo Walcott (£6.2m) returning from injury and Andre Gomes (£5.2m) making his first start in over three months.

Seamus Coleman (£5.3m), Michael Keane (£5.2m) and Tom Davies (£5.3m) are also recalled, with Djibril Sidibe (£5.1m), Yerry Mina (£5.3m), Fabian Delph (£5.3m), Alex Iwobi (£5.6m) and the injured Morgan Schneiderlin (£4.4m) dropping out.

The big news from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is that Adama Traore (£5.9m) is recalled to the Wolves starting XI, with Nuno Espirito Santo changing back to a 3-4-3 for this encounter.

Leander Dendoncker (£4.4m) makes way, while Santo’s other alteration is enforced: Ruben Vinagre (£4.2m) in for Jonny (£5.4m) at wing-back.

Jose Mourinho has made four changes to his Spurs side for this afternoon’s clash.

Tanguy Ndombele (£5.8m), Toby Alderweireld (£5.3m) and Jan Vertonghen (£5.2m) are all benched, while Hugo Lloris (£5.3m) is missing from the squad altogether with a groin problem.

Paolo Gazzaniga (£4.2m) comes in for the hosts’ goalkeeper, with Eric Dier (£4.8m), Serge Aurier (£5.0m) and Dele Alli (£8.3m) also returning to the side.

Mourinho said ahead of kick-off:

Hugo Lloris doesn’t feel in a condition to play. He’s played a couple of matches with a little problem which he was able to hide, but this time it wasn’t possible.

It’s another opportunity for Paolo to play and another challenge for the team. [Lloris] is obviously a very experienced and quality keeper, but life is made of challenges and we know we will have to fight until the end of the season, and we play against a very difficult opponent, of course.

Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Keane, Holgate, Baines, Davies, Gomes, Walcott, Calvert-Lewin, Sigurdsson, Richarlison.

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Fred, Fernandes, McTominay, Martial, Greenwood.

Wolves XI: Patricio, Boly, Coady, Saïss, Doherty, Neves, Moutinho, Vinagre, Traoré, Jiménez, Jota.

Spurs XI: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Davies, Dier, Winks, Lo Celso, Dele, Bergwijn, Lucas.

Can’t see how Siggy was affecting DDG there. He was on the floor and not obstructing Dave’s movement or vision. The only reason it went in was because Dave was going the wrong way and the deflection did him. Remove Siggy and the same thing happens.

At the very least it wasn't clear and obvious so on field decision should have stood

Of course he was obstructing David’s vision? He is literally in the centre of a direct line between him and the shooter.

      1. FPL Blow-In
        • 11 Years
        4 years, 28 days ago

If you remove Siggy he would have had a chance to at least see the deflection happening and therefore may not have been moving the wrong way?

      2. caldracula
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 28 days ago

On the floor, David was on his feet. Vision wasn’t obstructed at all and like WR said he dived the wrong way so was always going in.

        1. FPL Blow-In
          • 11 Years
          4 years, 28 days ago

Of course his vision was obstructed! The ball was moving along the ground! He literally has to pull his legs up last second to avoid the ball from hitting him he is interfering with play. Simple. DDG may not have even seen the ball deflecting off of Maguire until late due to Siggys position.

            • 13 Years

Watch it again. No way did he bock his view of the deflection

            • 5 Years
            4 years, 28 days ago

The ball moves along the ground all the time, lol. If Siggy could see it in time to move his feet, David could also see it. However, DDG was moving towards the original shot in and would never have recovered to meet the sudden change of direction caused by Harry's "own goal" heel.

      Agreed

    4. @persecuted_by_mods
        4 years, 28 days ago

Wow insane take, how could he not be obstructing the view when it literally rolls straight past him to the point he has to move his feet back to avoid it touching him

Yes DDG probs doesn't save it, doesn't make it not offside

      • Brosstan
        • 9 Years

The reason DDG moves in the first place is because Siggy is blocking his line of vision

No I don’t. I normally think you are pretty accurate in your thoughts on here also WR, however I think you are not in this situation. Of course it is all opinion based but I genuinely believe that regardless of who that happens to, going off the rules that the goal should not if stood.

I’m not blinkered, it actually benefited me as I own Bruno and not DCL. Siggy was nowhere near the point where Maguire deflected it and no way did a lying down Siggy block the view of a stood up DDG of the deflection.

              1. @persecuted_by_mods
                  4 years, 28 days ago

The definition says impeding, he was impeded simple. Yes he doesn't save it anyway, yes he can maybe see the ball 99% of the time but Siggy being there has impeded him, DDG certainly can't see through Siggy's boots

After taking a -8 to get rid of Digne, Kelly, Traore and Martial.. I really want to move Vardy, Firmino and Ings to Aub, DCL and Jota.

Vardy I can understand, although dropping him now definitely is asking for a clapback next GW.

Ings... I've accepted he can and probably will score again, but the stats have dried up a little. I've moved him into Aubameyang (lots ITB)
