FFS Cup

The winner of our latest FFS Cup competition revealed

The latest edition of our FFS Cup came to a conclusion in midweek, with Powell coming out on top after an 81-72 win over Manisaspor.

The pair shared seven of their starting XI going into Gameweek 37+: Nick Pope (£5.1m), James Tarkowski (£5.5m), Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.7m), Bruno Fernandes (£9.1m), Kevin De Bruyne (£10.7m), Marcus Rashford (£8.9m) and Danny Ings (£7.6m).

Powell’s differentials were Erik Pieters (£4.3m), Christian Pulisic (£7.4m), Raheem Sterling (£11.9m) and Mason Greenwood (£4.8m), with Manisaspor’s unique picks being Matt Doherty (£6.5m), Raul Jimenez (£8.1m), Anthony Martial (£8.5m) and Phil Foden (£5.5m).

All eight of these players delivered at least one attacking return for their owners but Sterling’s 17-point haul was perhaps the key variable.

The pair opted for different captaincy picks, too: Powell backed Rashford, with his opponent plumping for Martial.

Powell took a hit ahead of Saturday’s deadline, too, bringing in Pieters and Tarkowski for an inspired triple-up on the Burnley defence.

Even that minus four deduction and a captaincy failure didn’t make a difference, with Pulisic’s nine-point haul in the final Gameweek 37+ fixture at Anfield rubber-stamping our winner’s victory.

Powell’s strong Gameweek was enough to lift him up to 343rd in the world, his highest rank of the season.

Manisaspor is tantalisingly close to a top 1k finish, meanwhile, sitting in 1,340th place.

In our third-place play-off, Sharpey defeated Joax2 69-63.

Once again, the pair shared seven of their starting XI and both managers joined Manisaspor in handing the armband to Martial.

The benching of Romain Saiss (£4.8m) left Joax2 without a third playing FPL defender, which proved crucial as Sharpey triumphed by the six points that Willy Boly (£4.9m) brought him against Crystal Palace.

Hauls for Alexander-Arnold and Greenwood on Wednesday also saw Sharpey home, who triumphed despite taking an eight-point hit going into Gameweek 37+.

Obviously Sterling will be the highest capped player GW38.

If you don't have him, you are dead.

Nope - don’t see it that way

Makes the assumption he’ll be the only player to haul. Got a very tidy green arrow last season when Mo hauled against Huddersfield and was popular TC and not just C

not bothered to check it out but his ownership is not that high in 10k and unless FH difficult to get to with regular transfers at least for those who only have 1ft?

with KDB high ownership, salah relatively high, and some will prob be on auba/kane/etc i can´t see that being that high, but this statement does t not apply to the other ones as well?

It’s so I get can Sterling in... I’ve got Jesus currently but not sure he’ll start so thinking of selling for cheap striker to fund Sterling move

who will play if you keep Jesus? This is a classical Sterling got 17 points and jesus 2 points in last game transfer. Norwich concedes heavily of chances to whomever plays striker for the opponent team, who plays striker for City?

      1. Ian Davis
        • 14 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

If I keep Jesus then he definitely plays. Just got a feeling he’ll be on the bench and Sterling seems very hungry for goals at the moment.. Problem is Jesus is my 3rd City player so need to sell him if I get Sterling - and sell for a 6.0 or below striker (who isn’t Greenwood) The options aren’t great.

        1. bench boost for every gamew…
          • 7 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

are you basing that feeling on anything else than pure speculation? Why would he not play Jesus vs Norwich? Going with a false 9 vs a virtually championship side is not what Pep usually does, he does that vs top teams.

i meant who are the midfielder that you replaces Sterling with? is that a non starter or what?

          1. Ian Davis
            • 14 Years
            3 years, 8 months ago

Oh ok, sorry mate, didn’t get that bit. It’d be Willian - slight risk selling but hasn’t been as effective of late and Wolves a tough one.

              • 7 Years
              3 years, 8 months ago

so willian will play if you don´t do the transfer and keep Jesus or will you bench him? and if the latter, will Nketia or Wood play?

                • 14 Years
                3 years, 8 months ago

If I don’t do this transfer I’ll play both Willian and Jesus and I won’t get in Rodriguez/Nketiah. I’d probably do something less exciting like getting a Burnley defender if and not taking a -4

always go with your gut i´d say,

my opinion is only that, one opinion.

Willian might not look like the most inspiring choice but that game is pretty open so you´ll never know. GL

Mendy should start given Cancelo played the last game at LB and Zink seems out of favour.

      2. Klaren
        • 6 Years
        3 years, 8 months ago

Pep said he'll try to play everyone in the remaining games and Mendy didn't play any minutes in the last match (Zinchenko played 25-30 with Cancelo on LB rest of the time). So Mendy is likely to start.

I would avoid Digne and City defenders max 6 points. They hardly haul.

I would take a punt on Alonso, even wilder punt on the likes of Dunk or a sneaky double up of Robbo and TAA.

9 green arrows in a row from 600k to 115k
Pulled the trigger on Mane, Martial -> Sterling, Mahrez (C) -4 to try and break into top 100k in what has been a trying season for most part.

Sterling the east option of captain and it’s hard when competing in head2head and points league simultaneously. I think H2H opponent will sell salah -> sterling and TC him so I’d be nullified if Sterling chosen as (C)

Leading by 23 points. Rival below me has Salah and TC chip. I do not have Salah but have Kane as the major differential. I don't think he will get Sterling because he is 1 short in defense with Shaw, Taylor and Kelly all likely to not start. So, most probably he will bring a defender and TC Salah. I can not get Salah or Sterling with 1 FT. What should I do?

    A) Get Salah and captain him even for -4
    B) Just get Dilva for one of Willian/Pulisic and Captain Kane

I wish knowing the no. of transfers made by rival was still visible. I think doing B and hoping for the best is the way forward.

Salah has looked dreadful for the past few weeks, nearly costing my ML. Then again, it's Salah and it's Newcastle for a final GW of the season. Blocking strategy can actually be good.

    Pope | Martinez
    TAA | Aurier | Doherty | Lascelles | Simpson
    KdB | Mahrez | Foden | Pulisic | Bruno
    Vardy | Rashford | Greenwood

    2FT and 1.4 ITB

I plan to get Auba/Kane and Dilva in for Vardy and Foden. I need to downgrade one other player to make money for these two. Which would you pick? Bear in mind that these would be for a hit.

    A. Pulisic/Bruno -> Grealish/Trezeguet/Stanislas
    B. Rashford -> Giroud/King
    C. Scrap the plan and something else

Don't really fancy Everton against Bournemouth. I don't think getting any defender apart from TAA/Robbo is worth a hit for one week.

If I get him in, Dilva will become difficult unless I sell KdB. Would probably have to downgrade Vardy to Ings as well. Is that worth a hit?

1 point lead in ML, rival has FH. Current front 8

    Pulisic Bruno Martial KDB Foden
    Jesus Wood Vardy

    1FT 2.2 ITB

Just Foden to Dilva and hope for the best? Who to bench - Pulisic? Wood?

Anything else? Stuck on what to do!

So many appealing -8s! Foden, Bruno, Jesus to Sterling Dilva/Mahrez and fodder for example. Too many to think. Pulisic worry is that when Chelsea played a solid defensive unit at Sheffield United he looked completely ineffective.

Hi guys, here is a scenario -

I currently have Doherty, Bruno and Rashford in my team with 1FT, 0.5m ITB available.

Which of the following would you suggest -

    A. Doherty => VVD for free

    B. Doherty => to any defender who doesn’t play for Man C or Burnley (as I’m already maxed out) for free

    C. Bruno + Rashford => Antonio + Kane (would also mean that I play Doherty in my starting XI) for a -4 point hit.

    Thanks

I'm in a similar situation, but considering Doherty & Rashford to Bardsley & Kane. Was originally going to do Doherty to VVD, but last nights performance has tempted me to get rid of Rashford for Kane.

Hey! Thanks for your response. I just cannot see Liverpool keeping a clean sheet after their grand party last night. On the basis that there are no other clear and obvious teams that we can target for clean sheets, we may as well consider reconfiguring our attacking options.
