The fixture list for the 2020/21 Premier League season was published this morning and Fantasy Premier League looks set to kick off with a Blank Gameweek 1.

Manchester City and Manchester United will both start the season a week later following their exploits in European club competition.

Their scheduled opponents on the opening weekend, Aston Villa and Burnley, will also begin their campaigns in Gameweek 2.

Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers were in Champions League and Europa League action earlier this month but, although they have been handed a bit of an extra breather, their first fixtures still fall within Gameweek 1 and will take place on Monday 14 September.

Liverpool and Arsenal take on newly-promoted Leeds United and Fulham in two of the most eye-catching fixtures in the first round of 2020/21 matches, with Chelsea away at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Early-season interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12.0m) may well be short-lived, with the Gunners facing Fulham and West Ham United before meeting four of last season’s top five and Sheffield United between Gameweeks 3-7.

Liverpool also have a mixed start, with the visit of Marcelo Bielsa’s side followed by clashes with Chelsea and Arsenal.

Manchester City get their season underway in Gameweek 2 with a trip to Wolves, with visits of Leicester City and Arsenal to follow in Gameweeks 3 and 5.

Their cross-city rivals meanwhile follow up their Blank Gameweek 1 with a more appealing fixture against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, with matches against Brighton and Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United coming next.

Spurs have a decent start: they have six meetings against sides that finished 10th or below in their opening seven fixtures, with Championship runners-up West Bromwich Albion then up in Gameweek 8.

Wolves’ run of matches from Gameweeks 3-7 also stand out, while Chelsea will be quietly pleased with their initial schedule aside from a Gameweek 2 clash with Liverpool: the Blues take on Brighton, West Brom, Crystal Palace and Southampton in the opening five Gameweeks.

West Ham United may well be the team to avoid in the opening two months. After a favourable opening-weekend clash with Newcastle United, the Hammers then face six of last season’s top eight in quick succession.

We’ll be back later today with a more detailed inspection of the best and worst fixture schedules.

Our Season Ticker has been updated in the meantime, with Fantasy Football Scout subscribers able to sort by difficulty, attacking and defensive potential and rotation pairings.

Also check out Porstmouth Bubblejet’s fine work in identifying the clubs that rotate home and away fixtures in 2020/21.

With that CHE fixtures, i think Timo is now wait and see option for me.. rather have proven guys like Jimmy, Vardy or Ings.

Mitro, otoh, will score against us in GW1 but I'm not complaining 🙂

Vardy is a perfect Werner placeholder but there is a lot of placeholding to be had out there

Really? Chelsea's fixtures are among the best. Just the Liverpool game that isn't good from their first 4.

I think bha away could be tricky, and liv and palace for your first two home games are not fixtures you wish for. Next, improving soton. with many new faces in the team, I think I'd get proven asset to start with.

Brighton were shipping goals for fun after the restart. I'm banking on some of that form carrying over given the short turnaround.

'Planned' (I know) the first 7 weeks.
A slight squeeze first 2 weeks but then happy with it and can save WC.

Auba for first 2 weeks, then to Raz.
    Play Nathan Ferguson vs SOU
Got triple SOU: McCarthy, Armstrong, Adams (it never bothers me playing players against each other).

Keeping Greenwood and Foden in my week 1 draft.

    McCarthy
    VVD, TAA, Doherty, Vinegar, Ferguson
Mo, Auba, Armstrong (Foden and Greenwood bench week 1)
    Jiminez, Adams (Davis)

So what's your early thoughts regarding Manchester City and United players you want ?

    A) WC to get them GW2
    B) Get premium-priced players from other clubs for GW1, then replace them with the City and United players you want for hits in GW2
    C) Get premium-priced players from other clubs for GW1, then gradually bring the City and United players you want in for free
    D) Bench them GW1
    E) Mixture of B, C and D
    F) Other, what ?

    1. arcticalex17

B - i'd take the -4 to get them back in gw 2

    3. Pompel

      B) or E)
Pondering whether to get one City orUnited player to bench GW1, and play 5th mid Soucek. Then get Another City/Utd player come GW2 or Gw3.

  15. arcticalex17

thinking of changing kdb + bruno for auba + ziyech.

this way i can grab some points for my premiums in gw 1 and then maybe take the -4 to bring them back for gw 2...

    sound like a good plan?

    Team currently looks like:

    McCarthy Nyland
    TAA Saliba Vinagre Ayling Ferguson
    Salah Aubameyang Mount Maddison Soucek
    Werner Mitrovic Wickham

Plan is to upgrade one of Mount/Maddison the following week to Fernandes with the 3.5m ITB. Really want Fernandes for CPL. Then the following week, Auba > KdB.

As an Arsenal fan, I don't think Saliba will start from the off. He is in the same position as David Luiz (and is only 19). I think the only way he *might* play is if Mikel goes with a 3-5-2. If we sign Gabriel then I doubt we will play that system as it's rumoured Arteta wants to play 4-3-3 long term.

      Why?

You get to pick a new side at three points
      1) GW1
      2) GW2-16
      3) GW17-38

Why use up your WC in GW2 because of a short term plan? what happens when there is a glut of injuries or double GW or this or that? No more bulk fixes until GW17.

Each to their own obviously but it seems really rash to rinse the WC chip in GW2 just because United and City assets don’t play

It’s such a powerful chip and surely worth keeping until we have plenty of data and only when you have to
