International Football

Which FPL players are on international duty ahead of Gameweek 1?

Fantasy managers are faced with the unusual situation of an international break taking place immediately before the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

A week of international fixtures got underway in midweek, with many key top-flight players in action for their nations and missing out on pre-season preparations with their clubs as a consequence.

The positive news is that only those representing European countries will be away from their clubs, as UEFA tries to play catch-up with the Nations League.

The likes of Mohamed Salah (£12.0m), Sadio Mane (£12.0m), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£12.0m), Son Heung-min (£9.0m) and Raul Jimenez (£8.5m) will be staying put, then, while those European players who are on international duty at least won’t have to endure an arduous trek back from further afield given that all Nations League matches will take place on the continent.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

Trying to settle a debate was there or was there not an app/website that used to / still does allow you to seek your mini league opponents team before the deadline if they made transfers

Schmeichel is a great keeper but Leicester's defence can be unreliable and Chilwell has gone. You are very exposed to Liverpool even doing roughly as well as they did last year without at least TAA or preferably Salah/Mane in your team. Greenwood is not nailed and has a blank GW1.

    How's this looking please guys?

    Ryan
    TAA, Davies, KWP, Justin, Vinagre
    Salah (C), Auba (VC), Son
    Vardy, Mitro
    Bench: Steer, Bissouma, Greenwood, Davis

    Salah/Auba/Son/Vardy could become KDB/Bruno/Rashford/Chelsea after 2-3 GWs
Steer might end up being Nyland, Button or another 4.0m GK
Davis might end up being Brewster if he gets loaned out to another PL team this week

To be honest Son's stats when playing as left forward/midfielder are pretty poor since Mourinho's come in. Do we expect him to still play at that position? I'm thinking more and more that Alli may be a better pick. Thoughts?

    Why is Greenwood so overlooked?

Bruno is obviously good but not sure he can maintain it, Martial is a great pick and Rashford should do well too.

Unless they sign a wide player surely Greenwood is still great value?

It's crazy, frees up so much funds and is clearly best value. As far as I can see the Sancho news has died down too

If no Sancho then Greenwood is best attacking asset value wise

I am, mentioned it on a previous post. I#m strongly considering no Werner to start and doubling up GW2 then assessing. I have Greenwood on my bench GW1.

      Don't think he's overlooked.

As of now, 13% players are benching him and when he's declared fit to go in GW2 and no Sancho, ownership could rise to 20% and after a goal, he's going the 30% numbers fast

Some people, including me, are ready to own Martial and Greenie comes GW2/3 (Rashford is also interesting) and wait and see for Bruno later

I'd rather have Justin than Taylor. I do believe one needs Kane or son. Have your keepers. Gl

I’ve have a settled gk/def and attackers. Really stuck on the mid to basically mo or not. Anyone else in the same dilemma?

    It’s either

    A) Alli, ziyech/Kai, foden (benched gw1)
    B) Mo, Armstrong, Soucek

    Thoughts?

It's a tough call. Personally i prefer B, but I think Alli will start the season well, it's just weather he can avoid injuries.

I'm happy to wait and see for the Chelsea boys - see how they line up and manage against a 5 man Brighton defence and then against Liverpool GW2 before making any decisions.

After a lot of tinkering I came up with my first draft. Thoughts? The question seems to be Foden vs Van Dijk, but Foden leaves me with better first sub (for example Taylor or KWP) and I think Foden may rise in price pretty soon.

    4.5m
    TAA - Doherty - Vinagre
    Salah - Aubameyang - Alli - Foden
    Werner - Antonio - Adams

    4.0 - 4.5 defender - 4.5 mid - 4.0

Foden is a great pick. The 3 subs rule hopefully works in his favour

I like it, i'm currently on something very similar...

      McCarthy
      TAA - Robertson - Doherty - Vinagre
      Salah - Aubameyang - Alli - Soucek/Noble
      Ings - Antonio

      Nyland - Mitrovic - Mitchell (4.0) - Gordon (4.5)

      1. Sgt Frank Drebin
        • 7 Years
        3 years, 7 months ago

Yeah, really similiar, I like your team. I'm still wondering about going starting with 4 defenders in 4-3-3 or 4-4-2. I'll maybe try to somehow fit Robertson in as I have a feeling he's gonna start the season well building on a finish of last season.
