Pro Pundits team up for exciting new podcast ‘The FPL Wire’

Ahead of the 2020/21 Fantasy Premier League season, we have added another podcast to our rapidly growing Scout Network.

Powered by DreamSetGo, Lateriser12 (three top 200 finishes), Zophar666 (seven top 10k finishes) and BigManBakar (came fourth in 2014/15) have teamed up to bring you ‘The FPL Wire’.

These experienced managers, who have loved this game for years, will be discussing FPL every Tuesday, hoping to give you all the insight, information and banter you need to make your big decisions.

All the three FPL managers featured on this podcast have very contrasting managerial styles. So we hope these personality differences lead to engaging debate, each of us analysing from three different vantage points.

Every week, they will be discussing a Hot Topic as well as an in-depth look into two to three Premier League teams. The FPL Wire’s pre-Season podcast debuted last week, where the trio discussed the top four teams, the promoted clubs and three other Fantasy-relevant sides in great detail.

In the second episode, they will be taking an in-depth look at how to tackle Blank Gameweek 1, Wildcards, Going with Mohamed Salah (£12.0m) as well as discussing Kai Havertz (£8.5m), Everton, Leicester City and Newcastle United.

This podcast is powered by DreamSetGo, a sports travel and experiences platform offering bespoke travel and hospitality packages around global sporting events, and curated experiences with your favourite sports celebrities.

All the statistics used on this Podcast will be from the Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area.

yeah, like it - assuming you'll be upgrading Soucek with the Auba -> KDB money?

    I just don't see how Werner 200 + Dier 100 could outscore Pulisic 200 + Doherty 150?

with his injury prone history, plus rotation this season, he will be lucky to get 150-160p

agree, no interest in Werner with 8.5 Havertz and 8.5 Pulisic sitting there

        Not even GW1?
Puli coming out of injury and Kai without much time with squad.
Timo looked good for Germany and fancy him to start well.
Think it's an easy downgrade if we want to once we can see how Chelsea are setting up.

I'm going Werner and Havertz in my team. I'll admit it's risky having two unproven players, but I think they will adapt to the prem well

I want a route into Aguero so so bad, those GW3-7 fixtures look primed for two double figure hauls. Though Sterling will probably get them too

    1. Brosef Stalin
      • 13 Years
      3 years, 7 months ago

Everybody overlooking Kun I think. Will be interesting to see how many people need to rejig their teams to get him in after one good performance from him.

With Sterling I would still prefer KDB as my premium Man City mid. Even if I get torched a couple of weeks with Sterling being streaky, I think KDB is a better long term choice.

      1. Flair
        • 3 Years
        3 years, 7 months ago

I'm not looking for a City MID long term though, WCing in GW10. I want an explosive midfielder like Sterling who can destroy teams from GW3-7 with my captaincy on him.

First mention of Kun I've seen in ages. Is he fit? Will he start GW2. Liable to explode.

He's fit, the scenario I'm envisioning is he comes on GW2 and hits a hat trick against Leicester GW3. Or West Ham, Arsenal and Leeds. Very appealing

Please help me stop going around in circles:

    McCarthy (Button)
TAA / Saliba / KWP / Davies (Mitchell)

I really want Tierney but not willing to drop anyone!

My only question mark in your team is Saka. I think he's a great player, just don't think he's nailed to start, so I'm avoiding for now.

I'm sure that one of Douglas Strujik or Davis (4.0mil defs)
is gonna start a PL game early in the season and if he does well then he will be kept in the starting lineup for Marcelo Bielsa. But I'm trying to find who will be and probably I think it will be Douglas cause Leeds against easier opponents like FUL(gw2) needs his set pieces

    1. SADIO SANÉ
      • 8 Years

Leeds could start with Ayling (RB) Cooper & Koch (CB) Dallas (LB).

Or if Koch not up to Bielsa levels yet, potentially move Ayling inside, Dallas to RB and either Alioski or Douglas to LB...

Yes Romeu is decent. But Hojbjerg, was good imo. I’m not Overly worried for Southampton defenders or keeper in the opening weeks, as they have an excellent run of fixtures. But if the clean sheets don’t stack up in these, then it’s time to look at alternatives.

He wasn’t even playing really for their good run of defence. AFAIK

Potentially. More pressure on Romeu to pick up the slack.

    Thoughts on this team?

    McCarthy
    VVD Vinagre Lewis
    Auba Salah Alli Bissouma
    Jimenez Mitro Bamford

    Ryan Bruno Mitchell Taylor

Plan on doing Salah > KDB for gw 2 as well

Saliba or Holding, who is more nailed?

Holding in the very short term. Who knows what's going to happen after the first GW or two.

I think I read that he tested negative and can play. But I will double check on him leading up to the game.

He has been isolating because he was 'in contact' (no pun intended) with the Czech masseuse.
Twitter account said he would be available:

Worth waiting on PC though just in case.
Ceballos waits in the wings for me if Soucek is out.

That's refreshingly different. Amazing what ditching Mo can get you!
Pretty committed to that starting XI though!

What does Laporte's positive covid test mean to his chances of starting GW2?

Cheers man. I've tried not to be too template and trying to think beyond GW1. I think only one premium mid is needed at any given time in order to captain them. No Salah has meant I can really beef up my defence.

The Laporte news is a bit of a hammerblow, but I think it's a sign of things to come this season for all of us. A bench of people that will actually play is critical I think. All those with fodder will be constantly be using their transfers up.

The long-term plan is to play a 4-3-3 and only use ASM and Soucek when I really need to.

It looks good. Having double CHE early doors could be a real springboard.
I originally thought that the 'carnage' of GW1 blanks would be fun... I was wrong! It is turning me in knots!
          I like your GW2< structure.
I've ended up being ridiculously template, which has left me somewhat underwhelmed.

Agree re the bench too - we are going to have a number of random omissions due to covid, and I'm also thinking to avoid having 2+ players in a game where possible, because I can see delays/cancellations being a thing. A la the Czech squad in their NL game.

I like to look at template teams to get an idea of who is doing what and then make up my own mind and make some punts. I fully admit that my two CHE are unproven in the prem and might backfire, but I think the upside is too good to ignore.

Blank GW1 has been a nightmare hasn't it?! I think a lot of people are going to get stung with price rises which then means they can't make their planned transfers.

Holding £0.5m back in the budget for that exact reason!
(I mean, I have also earmarked where I'd spend it if it doesn't get eaten away... but at least I have it 'just i case')

              Have a great GW1

    Ryan / Walton
    TAA, Doherty, Coady, KWP, Mitchell
Salah, Aubameyang, Harrison / Gordon, Greenwood
    Werner, Ings

0.5 to bring in Martial for GW2.

      Nice.
Not sure how many mins Gordon will get considering Carlo just signed an entirely new midfield!
But then... there's not a lot to choose from at £4.5m, so...

Thank you, sir! Yes, Gordon is a bit of a gamble indeed, but who knows? Like you said, not that many great options at his price, so I'll take one eventual assist here and there over the 2-points. Thank you for the feedback, mate!

Spurs Fans who d'you reckon is a better £5.0m option in your defence: Davies or Sessegnon? Or are neither nailed on to start first game?

Currently on Jimenez + Che Adams.

    Considering:
    a) Ings + Mitrovic
    b) Adams + Wilson and upgrade elsewhere
    c) Stay put.

Also, torn between Saka/ Armstrong/ ASM for 4th midfield spot.

I thought about it and then decided against it. Didn't like the options, eg McCarthy + Ryan. Opted to dish out the extra 0.5m for Lloris.
