Former FPL winner’s Wildcard team for FPL Gameweek 9

With injuries making my Fantasy Premier League team resemble the condiment options at a hotdog van, this international break seemed like an ideal opportunity to finally play my Wildcard.

I am currently sitting at about 500k with 482 points, which is okay (I guess) for this stage of the season but, naturally, I am looking to improve on that. Thus far, it is my captaincy picks that have let me down the most with only 84 points in total coming from the armband and four blanks from eight. 

I know that there are a few managers with much better captaincy scores than me who are ranked lower which, to me, suggests that the overall strategy is working okay, I just need to be a bit smarter or a bit luckier in that area.

With that in mind, while I am Wildcarding, I’ll be aiming to stick to my core principles this season of maintaining a reasonably balanced spread of funds across the squad, not going too heavy on any particular team and trying to select players who can score in multiple ways.

I will outline my decision-making process for each position before revealing the final squad at the end…

      How can it ever be confirmed? It's a decease. Look at how long Ronaldo was out even though he was physically fit. Keeping him is a risk imo. Play what you know. You know for sure he is out for the Leicester game.

      The FA regulations state that a player has to self isolate for 10 days following a positive result. Salah tested positive last on Wednesday, therefore the Saturday of the Brighton match is the 10th day so he cant play, Arsenal meanwhile play on Sunday, so Elneny can play if selected.

        I assume they test somewhat frequently, if not daily. In the above example, Havertz probably tested positive 3 or so days before.

        I suspect the 10 days is from the first test, or its confirmation.
        However, regardless of days, you're not coming back until you are negative.

        Havertz was positive Nov 2, (Mon before Nov 5 match) and he was negative Nov 17 (Nov 19 article quote above).

      I aim to spend 26 million on the five defenders, at the start of the season.
      I think their starting price plus two 4.5 defenders is 26.

      I'd spend less, but if I spend more, and I did at the start of the season, I'd be aiming to bring it back to the front 7.

      I have Salah, Havertz... Burke (4.4) who doesn't get minutes, and Solly March who seems to be coming back from injury (yellow flag gone).

      I think you need to be in the mindset that those flagged guys aren't playing.
      Recent history is that Mitchell doesn't play.

      Definitely start Alexander-Arnold. He's either 90 or nothing (as a DEF) or lucky enough that if they sub him, they need him and he can make an impact.

      If you're going to take a hit, it's probably got to be for someone that score more than four, so you're possibly not trading Taylor (unless there's a great looking CS).
      You may have to drop someone pricier, like Salah to Fernandes... what does Fernandes score on average, 7+...
      My thoughts, though I'm not looking to trade Salah for Fernandes, FYI.

    Since we are emotional creatures it will be interesting to see the viewpoints if Spurs beat in emphatic way City with Son and Kane involved. Would this change the way how people envisage selling the Spurs assets out and but City players. Having said that I expect a narrow win for City or a draw and then Son and Kane will be out KDB Sterling Vardy etc

    I think I am talking myself into taking a hit for:

    Salah, Son > Bruno, KDB (-4).

    It will give me this team with 0.1 cash itb so I can't afford more than one price change - meaning I may not be able to wait on any of the moves (especially talking about Son > KDB which you could argue I could wait until GW10).

    So the questions are:
    1. Would you take the hit for those moves?
    2. Is it right to cling onto Robbo for one more or is there someone worth bringing in that will outscore him by 4pts this week and be a worthy replacement longer term?

          The reason I have given it a 65% is because-

          A. Salah is potentially out for only one game

          B. There is a small chance that taking a hit for those moves could backfire

            Understood and I appreciate it.

            Personally I’m not convinced even if he is technically able to play the BHA match that he will be on top form by then so you could see it as 2 GWs of opportunity with someone else.

            Re. The hit I agree but price changes could kill me as the move leaves me only 0.1 currently so 2 changes in the wrong direction and I’m stuffed
