Mark makes a Bale appeal and gets a Bale refusal and for now is still a custodian to the assist rules of the FPL. Oh, Bales!

Still though, he’s served his time well having pulled back my precious lead, thanks to his Liverpool defendants. It’s a fair Kop Guv.

Of course, as with any turn of fortune for Mark, witness a flip side as Granny’s miffed makes an unwelcome return for the prosecution.

Scout discussion in this week’s dock – The difference between an assist and an ‘assist’.

Wow, look at the Players (out) in FPL and almost 50,000 people have transferred Tevez out because of a one week ban!

And something like 12,000 have transferred him in. So that makes roughly 62,000 numpties.

For anybody confused about Wild Cards, we all have 1 that can be used ANYTIME throughout the season.

We also have an additional WC that can be used between GW23 and GW27.

So you could use 2 WCs between 23 and 27 if you really wanted to. But only 1 can be used outside that bracket.

What's the current thinking on Coleman? I offloaded him a couple of GWs back, but he now seems to be back playing again...

    Is this going to last?

I need to replace Bosingwa this week, and it's between him and Huth at the moment.

        SO i am doing
        Tevez to Torres

        and next week
        Drogba to Tevez

i know you lose a bit of value, but it means i can field a better team for 2 weeks rather then suffering with suspensions!

If your team is near perfection then you can get away with it.

No offence but the phrase "Drogba could always do damage this weekend" has reared it's ugly head every week since the Chelsea blip.

Chelsea will turn the corner and get back to winning ways soon enough but fixtures and the form of that player means that now is the time to look for alternatives.

I'm definitely eyeing up a Drogba > Torres moves the week after next. I think Spurs will turn over Chelsea 2-1.

In my opinion a goalie from a team which can keep cleanies away at Everton and Arsenal and concede two at home to Wigan, Stoke and Blackpool must be an exercise in frustration to say the least. Look to upgrade Krul in the near future - besides Harpers return is imminent.

sorry guys, but not trolling or out, just my opinion,
countries need money and student fees is one resource.

Education should be treated like a commodity like any other
supply and demand . Right now there is a degree bubble, just like housing bubbles (or .com) of the past, too many degrees mean they are worth nothing, you may notice already degrees are no longer enuf to get a good job , it is now a masters, soon if things stay going the way they are that wont be either

AND your typical response will be why should the rich be entitled to education before others, well, they shudnt but life isnt fair!

If you are good enough to get a scholarship then you deserve your education and as fees increase there will be more reason for a proper scholarship at entry level (which is missing now)
dont worry about being rude buddy

Means testing is the fair way to go, those that can pay those that cant and are wanting to do a 'serious' degree (not philosophy, or even in my case archaeology) should be supported. However that would need to be an extremely balanced, fair but rigorous assessment.

But they already do means testing for the maintenance loans - which is all it should be really.

Fees get paid once the graduate is earning money so whether their family has money or not is pretty irrelevant in terms of the changes to fees.

But that is a consequence of having low fees?

If you're on about doing a 'proper' degree which will lead to a grad job you should earn plenty enough to cover the increase in fees really?

Gregs point is fine, it's jamsie's i find insulting. Keep the rich rich and the poor poor by making university a place for people from rich, privileged backgrounds. Bluuurrrgh. Anyone should be able to go to university, even if the red bricks think it's a 'sh*t' degree in a 'sh*t' university.

Higher Education is, yes to easy to come by and to many people have degrees, but putting prices up that much. COME ON! Just put the retirement age up to 70 for god sake, the amount of money we lose through Pension is unreal.

That scholarship idea is a joke. They will be impossible to come by for your average person. I am (Not being big headed) a smart kid, but I will never get a scholarship, as I am not that bit smarter. It will be 1 or 2 per College every year, which is shite.

I can imagine when your 65 youl will be saying how them pushing up the retirement age is affecting your generation worst and more importantly the life of leisure you worked so hard for 55 years for!

True but the same valid arguement your presenting to get rid of the pension program to force feeble 65 + back into the work force, those feeble souils are presenting similar valid arguments why you should pay fees

the gov. needs money , do both bring in fees, bring up age of retirement.

Saying this for about the 5th time today, but these fees changes make absolutely no difference to who can afford to go to university, the fees are paid over the working life of the graduate so the family's income has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I can see why people are annoyed about fees but anyone who thinks that these changes are pricing people out of going to uni need to have an actual look at what the fees changes mean.

Fair enough - as said I'm not familiar with how it works in England. Education is free over here. I'll still have a £15K loan to pay off through my working life anyway of course, as I've had to live off something while studying 🙂

Yeah, apologies if it came across a bit offensive on you, to be fair i agree with what you're saying, and you were just addressing the point above. Just trying to point out that the facts are being twisted quite a bit in this case in that i think the government is still doing a fair bit to make sure that education is available to everyone - and our fees system is set up in that way too (and that hasn't changed with these increases)

        BIG HEADED POST WARNING

I am sorry, but I am not your average joe who gets through school, getting C's etc. I am an A grade student and always have been, and yet the fees will stop people like me because I am in an average income family going to university, which is bollocks, I agree on your point above btw. And yes I can still go to University, but because of the generation I am in, Degree's will still be common, and I will have a huge debt looming over me (Ok it is easy to pay of, but its just not fair).

Why should the change in fees stop you going to university?

You pay the fees once you have graduated so your family's income is irrelevant. If you are a good student you will walk out of uni with a good grad job and then the fees won't seem so bad because you're on such a high salary.

It's a shame for people your age, i agree. But don't get the facts twisted, it doesn't stop you doing anything.

Well this is my point. It's not pricing anyone out of going to university - it will just make people consider whether it is worth it over they're lifetime.

If you're the kind of person who will graduate with a media studies degree and go and get a job that doesn't need a degree then maybe you'll decide not to goo. To be honest these are the kind of people i don't think the government should be subsidising to go to uni.

If you're the kind of person who will come out of uni and do a grad job and use your degree, then you'll likely be on the kind of salary where these rises in fees isn't going to be significant when you compare it to your lifetime earnings.

My main gripe with the fees increases is that i think it's a bit too steep too quickly - but anyone who thinks that it means they won't be able to afford to go to university needs to look again at what these increases will actually mean.

That is my opinion, but being affected by it as greatly as I am, I should be kind of pissed off about it, which I am. If you read above, my point I was making is that there should be a middle somewhere. (In the end, I was making that point).

It's unlucky, i'll give you that. But talking about these changes meaning that you can't go because your family can't afford it is a load of nonsense.

How big will your debts be when your education is finished?

Will you have to take a loan to pay the fee for the education, and then another loan to have something to live off or will every student have to work full time at the same time as they're studying?

Basically, how it is at the moment, you get a tuition fees loan and a maintenance loan.

Tuition fees loan obviously covers the fees and goes straight to the uni (at the moment is about 3k - and this is what they're increasing.)

You maintence loan is means tested, so everyone is entitled to something like 4k a year, but it can be more than that depending on your family's earnings.

So the fees increases will only affect what people pay back after graduating. At the moment people doing 3 year courses are coming out with about 21k to pay off, so this will probably rise to about 39k.

The way you pay it back is set to change too though, like at the moment you only start paying back your student loan once you're earning over 15k a year, and even on that the amount you pay is like £5 a month or something, and that increases as you earn more. With the new fees i think you only start paying back once you are earning more than 21k a year - and again what you pay back is basically nothing compared to what you're earning, so it's not like it makes much of a difference to most people really - everyone i know paying back loans say they barely notice it at all!

I see. Makes sense. Very interesting read.

Shouldn't really be that much of a problem then if you don't have to start repaying until you have a job that will let you. In Sweden we have to start repaying almost immediately after our studies are finished. Although if you can't you can't obviously.

I'll have about 25K to pay back when my ~4 year studies are over, but I'm not worried so I don't thing young Gregory needs to be either then.

    Schwarzer
    Skrtel Coleman Hughes
    Nasri Bale Etherington Nani
    K Davies Elmander Odemwingie

    Subs: VdS Kolarov Rafael Kalou

Do you think I need to make any transfers this week? I'd love to save up 2 free transfers.

Only concern is Odemwingie's injury. That could leave me with an all Bolton attack.

Oh I wouldn't take the credit for it at all, I think it was Jamsie P that I noticed say it first. Good move for some, I would lose too much cash on Tevez to do it myself and have other serious moves to worry about. 🙂

alan pardew is a clever man. he made something like 5million from payoffs from west ham and charlton i think or whoever he was at before the hammers?

mike ashley is a fat dope. gives him a 5 and a half year contract.. well pardew will be getting more money from a payout shortly..

You dont get to be a billionaire by being a complete mug, he just doesnt give a shite about Newcastle United or its fans apart from making money out of them. In fact if I was a cynic I would go so far as to think that he is pushing the fans into buying more shares in the club thus garnishing him with extra pie funds. He's a smart tosser, but fundamentally a c*nt.

Folks, I have no idea what I'm doing this week - more than usual. At the moment I have 3 home teams on bench!

    Hart (Foster)
    Greek/Coleman/Dann (Rafael, Hutton)
    Fabs (just in case)/Nani/Parker/Gamst/Lennon
    Torres (C)/Elmander/Balotelli

Any help please? ie Birmingham better chance of cleany than Man Utd and Tottenham???
