Should we reconsider Everton’s FPL attackers for Gameweek 20 and beyond?

With no match in Double Gameweek 19, have Everton gone under the Fantasy Premier League radar ahead of Gameweek 20?

That’s what we are pondering in this latest article as the Toffees face a period of appealing fixtures.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men had fans on the edge of their seats at the start of the season and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.6m) became a near-essential pick after delivering returns in eight of his first nine games.

Lucas Digne (£6.0m) was thriving as a maurauding left-back, providing five assists in 10 matches and summer signing James Rodríguez (£7.7m) hit the ground running in the Premier League.

However, as we look towards Gameweek 20, it is a very different story for Everton’s attacking assets.

With no goals in five games and a hamstring injury threatening to keep him out for the next few, Calvert-Lewin has been sold by nearly a million players

Digne and Rodríguez, once well-owned assets, are now in just around 13% of squads combined.

With FPL players selling Everton players en masse, we take a look at their underlying numbers to see if any of them are worth keeping for their appealing schedule.

If KDB is confirmed that he'll be miss GW20, who will you replace him with,if you don't want to bench?

My plan would be to do him to gundogan and then upgrade Alzate to son, and have 2.4m to spare.

Just don’t see how KDB is viable at 12m right now.

Do you need him though? Look at his points v palace, wba, Newcastle and Brighton all at home. I’d rather captain Kane that week.

I think SHU is the better fixture, and city the better side, you just feel like Kane is more likely to be involved in goals.

Thats what I meant. Kane has the potential to get us more points vs Brighton as compared to KDB in his game against SHU.

Everton have to get back to Hamez pinging it wide to Digne/Rich who were laying it on a plate for DCL. Coleman was also providing well on the other side.

    Fabianski (McCarthy)
    Robertson Chilwell Cancelo Dias (Coufal)
Salah Bruno Son El Ghazi (Soucek)
    Wilson Bamford (Rodrygo)

Players i'm interested in, Maddison, Grealish, KDB and Saka

I would retain at least two of your playing subs given the likelihood of more COVID postponements.

I think I would remove Chilwell and El Ghazi as a priority. I thought Chilwell was abysmal against Leicester and El Ghazi is not necessarily first choice.

Why do people suddenly want Gundogan?

I've not watched City recently as I can't be arsed but he's never been a consistently good attacker. I seem to recall he had a spell last season when he notched one or two and was the new flavour of the week before immediately being sold en masse.

When they have a centre forward fit surely he'll be relegated to a more conservative role again?

not for the next 3 games at least maybe vs liverpool they will go back to a double pivot but at the moment because of the stones dias partnership and general consistency they are back to one holder so Gundo is playing more like the david silva role as one of the two advanced mids.

Indeed. It seems to me so many games have a training ground attack v defence feel in these non-crowd times. The mid arriving from deeper doing well. It might also explain that Liverpool front 3 struggling to some extent as everything just looks slow and laboured and Pool don't have that sort of player till Hendo or Keita get back in that spot.

Do you believe that role continues for Gundogan, though?

As I mentioned earlier I've not watched City much lately - last time was when they played Chelsea and yes he did play well - but will his role not revert when they have a CF?

I don't see why Pep would want to change something that is clearly working. Jesus is having a mare and no Kun yet. That said Pep is not the best person to trust on anything.

Good point. And it's also much better for bonus (higher accuracy, more passes and tackles). We've been a little spoilt with Salah etc basically being strikers, but these are the sort of midfielders that should actually get points for clean sheets and more for goals...

FPL form maybe but he's not playing badly, was very unlucky not to score against Southampton and they were so comfortable against Chelsea that his job was basically just to press for most of the game.

Agreed. He's been wasteful but has been getting chances. On another day he'd have had a brace or better the other day - I'm keeping (also because of fixtures but more so what I've seen).

I don't think it's worth it. Ward/Cahill don't offer all that much going forwards, or consistently in the BAPs. It's only nailedness in their favour and doesn't seem like Mitchell should be dropped.

Besides, Mitchell does whip in the odd cross.

Holding. Seems to do well on the BAPs, especially if the scoreline is low.

For A dark horse, maybe a Fulham defender. Have some decent fixtures & haven't been bad.

I'd otherwise go for the a Burnley fullbacks, but they have some tough fixtures short term so fine to ignore for now.

Burnley's fixtures are tough and i also have Pope who i want to sell.

Do people actually sit and watch each and every game? How do you have the time and patience for that?

I have been following football obsessively since 1990 when I was seven years old and fell in love with it, but even so I cannot sit through 10 PL matches a week especially with their being no crowds.

At the moment I probably listen to two or three games a week on the radio and watch one that appeals to me on Sky if I have the time. I tend to find the overhyped commentary extremely annoying on Sky, though, and I also find a lot of games these days are very stop-start because almost everything is a foul. I love it when refs just let the play go like Leeds City and United Villa this year which were terrific.

Kudos to you if you're able to do it.

I listen to around 1-2 games per GW on the radio. Maybe one game a season on the tellybox. Kudos to those who enjoy watching the game enough to watch as many games as possible, and I'm sure it helps FPL ranks.

I prefer the radio tbh. It means I can go for a walk or do something else while I listen. I'd say one game a week is plenty - that's how it was in the '90s and it didn't feel oversaturated like it does now.

Ha and yes from comments below we are a similar age. I don't have the concentration span to watch a game on telly, but weirdly I can be doing DIY, cleaning or a spot of home brewing and concentrate 100% on the radio commentary. There always seems to be an early or late fixture on which helps.

That said, I don't enjoy the game enough as a spectacle to listen to many matches where I don't have FPL players in. It would have to be Liverpool vs Man Utd or something for that.

Do you prefer Five Live or TalkSport?

I am a FiveLive fan myself but I have warmed a little to TalkSport - I think their commentators are forced to do a lot (like plugging SkyBet) which they wouldn't have to do on the BBC and that's not their fault.

Generally BBC but I don't really mind. I hate gambling with a passion so dislike all the odds stuff and the plugging you mention on TalkSport but it's only a small part of the coverage.

The BBC is a little gentler and warmer I find, but also a bit more anodyne and risk-averse too. Not much in it for me though!

        40 on the horizon!

I preferred '90s football but I can't tell if its just because I am looking back through tinted glasses. I do think there's something in the oversaturation though - TV games felt special then, now they are humdrum.

Don’t! Time is evaporating at an exponential level. I liked it end of 90’s early 0’s. as I could see it change in front of my eyes as Wenger brought the game to a new era and actually made it sport. Now it’s become so modernised it’s cancelled itself out. I almost compare it to SKYNET and the real modern day world. We know the potential downfalls but rely more and more on technology and AI. The more problems we think we’ve solved the more are created. I did love life in the 80’s I must admit. Wonderful decade.

Can get very tedious watching them all. I try and scout the key games/clubs where I know I will be sourcing players from.

The reason imo everyone misses Saturday games when 4-5 are on at the same time is because there will be an incident every so often and Jeff Stelling etc can go from game to game making it sound a very exciting day. In reality if you watch just one game you probably get something worthwhile happening every 5 minutes or so, unless it's a rare basketball type game like City/Villa last night. So it feels pretty boring. And it is much worse without any stadium atmosphere as well.
