Kane makes early injury return to start for Spurs as Pereira on West Brom bench

Harry Kane (£11.0m) is set to make an early return from an ankle injury for Tottenham Hotspur’s home clash with West Brom this afternoon.

Jose Mourinho had said on Wednesday that he hoped the striker would return to action for either Spurs’ FA Cup fifth-round tie against Everton next week or in Gameweek 24.

“We were scared when it (the ankle injury against Liverpool) happened but next week we play Everton and (Manchester) City at the weekend. I believe for one of these matches, (Kane) should be back.” – Mourinho

However, on Thursday night after the club’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in GW22, the Tottenham chief hinted that Kane could indeed be fit for the Baggies’ visit.

“I think, from all the guys injured, (Sergio) Reguilon, Dele Alli, (Gio) Lo Celso, Harry Kane…I think the first one to be back will be Harry.

“We have to fight with what we have, and against West Bromwich – with Harry Kane or without Harry Kane – we have to go and win that match.” – Jose Mourinho

Kane leads the line for Spurs ahead of attacking trio Heung-min Son (£9.7m), Erik Lamela (£5.7m) and Lucas Moura (£6.6m).

Ahead of kick off, Mourinho told BT Sport on his decision to select his talismanic striker:

We had immediately good news after the injury, knowing it was not as difficult as we initially feared. He’s recovered very, very well. He’s confident, he feels absolutely fine. And of course he’s a phenomenal player for us.

Tanguy Ndombele (£5.9m) partners Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£4.9m) in central midfield, while centre-back Eric Dier (£4.9m) finds himself benched for the second time in three gameweeks.

Top 10k FPL managers refuse to ditch Kane and Son double-up for Gameweek 9

West Brom’s most viable FPL asset in Matheus Pereira (£5.6m) is also a substitute in Gameweek 23.

On-loan Arsenal man Ainsley Maitland-Niles (£4.6m), listed as a defender in FPL, looks set to play in central midfield against Spurs.

Sam Allardyce has a number of formations at his disposal within his selected XI, with Karlan Grant (£5.7m) possibly being used at wide midfield rather than his natural forward role.

Former Cardiff City defender Lee Peltier (£4.0m) has been drafted in at right-back for the relegation-battling Baggies.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris; Davies, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Aurier; Ndombele, Hojbjerg; Son, Lamela, Lucas Moura; Kane.

West Bromwich Albion XI: Johnstone; Townsend, Bartley, Ajayi, Peltier; Grant, Maitland-Niles, Sawyers, Gallagher, Snodgrass; Diagne.

Son had 3 shots, all of which were on target and also created a chance. He’s more worthy of the bonus than Kane who sprayed 2 shots off target

It hurts more to hear they were on target but he didn't score two of those.

Really unsure what to do here after wasting BB and have 2FT 3.8itb:

    Mendy
    Dias stones Shaw cresswell
    Rash Bruno gundo Salah
    Antonio DCL (c)

    Johnstone, bamford, raph, Mitchell

Could I bench Salah and get a Burnley defender for mitchel? Real bench headache for the double

How often do the bonus change after the game? I.e is Son now secured for the 2 bonus points?

Its usually final after an hour of the final whistle iirc. So it may still change.

Previous years certain BPS categories have been added 15+ minutes after the whistle, usually goal winning BPS and deductions from dispossessions. As far as I know these stats are added during the game this year, so the only changes you see after the whistle are stats that OPTA have had to reevaluate, or simply stats from the last few minutes of the game being delayed.

Might be a stupid question but is Kanes goal or Sons seen as the ‘winning’ goal in this game?

Son completed his 30th pass in the final few minutes. Finished on 33 passes

    With a pass % of over 80%

That meant a 4 bps rise

    24 to 28.

Son completed his 30th pass in the last few minutes. 85% accuracy so a few baps for that bumped him up belatedly. For anyone wondering.

Son completed his last 4 out of 33 passes in the 92nd minute. 84% passing accuracy means 4 BPS added at the end. That's about as transparent and predictable as it can get.

I'm not too disappointed with Son getting what looks like 10pts having not captained him. Only 16% of the whole game captained him and his points have still increased my rank. I just annoyed that I've picked the wrong captain again if Bamford doesn't match or beat his score.
