Which Premier League sides have fixture swings in the coming Gameweeks?

Currently sitting at 773rd in the world, Let’s Talk FPL’s Andy gives his thoughts on upcoming fixture swings for three Premier League teams.

Double Gameweeks are some of the best parts of any FPL season, but we can often fall into the trap of tunnel vision, where we forget there are other teams and players to consider.

In this article, I wanted to take a look at some future fixture swings for teams, both in the short-term future, but also a bit longer term.

Chelsea

With the amount of rotation we’ve seen under Thomas Tuchel, I’d be a bit wary of going for too many Chelsea players, but the fixtures look kind in the near future.

  • Gameweek 27 – Everton (h)
  • Gameweek 28 – Leeds United (a)
  • Gameweek 29 – Blank
  • Gameweek 30 – West Brom (h)
  • Gameweek 31 – Crystal Palace (a)

West Brom, Leeds and Palace are all in the bottom three for expected goals conceded this season, with Everton the seventh-worst team in the league. The fixtures from Gameweek 27 look prime for goals.

With Timo Werner (£9.2m) finally getting a long-overdue goal on Monday against Newcastle United, he’s one to keep an eye on, especially with FPL managers looking at Harry Kane (£11.0m) for a potential Double Gameweek in 26. This could be an easy switch later on.

Have Ings and Raphinha for the dgw, would you rather have:

    A Bamford
    B Dallas

      Bamford by miles and miles.

I think with just Bamford, Ings, Raphinha you're completely set for this week.

      DCL, Watkins, Bamford here.
Bringing Kane unstables my team too much, and i dont find him having that much better of a DGW than Watkins or DCL

Agreed not sure on the excitement here for Kane - and I'm a spurs fan. I've got Son but not going to break the bank to get Kane in with DCL Watkins and Bamford in my team.

Nice! I am thinking of ignoring Ings completely from my WC team. He has Chelsea and Leeds this week and I do not see more than a goal for him. Will include DCL and bench him. Saves me from a Son vs Gundo benching headache. And saves me a transfer too!

      Exactly my thought.
But DCLs harmstring and Ings other potential DGWs make this the toughest decision regarding the next GWs.

I have DCL atm and think i’m keeping. But had the opposite thought this morning.

Ings has Chelsea, Leeds, Everton, City, SHU, Spurs as his next six. That's four tough games out of six. Plus if all of them are scheduled as per predictions, there is no surety that Ings won't get injured.

          • 6 Years

Exactly, but we all know he can score against anyone.
On the other hand, Sottons form is far from being the best and Ings can injure himself if the wind blows too heavily.

Thanks to this exchange i am more convinced on keeping DCL. Happy he does not play tonight too, and gets more days to recover.

He’s just highly consistent, very unlikely to blank against poor sides as proven over the last few seasons, also has a hatrick or 2 in him at some point

Problem is spurs are rubbish atm but if they can turn it around and play a bit more attacking I think they could hammer someone

    1 FT 3.6m ITB

    McCarthy* Pope
    Stones Cancelo Lowton Dallas* Coufal
    Soucek Bruno Salah Son Gundogan
    Adams* Bamford* Antonio

Still no closer to deciding how to play these next few GWs, not sure it's worth tearing my team up a week early so I can BB maybe one extra DGW player in 26.

    A) Soucek + Antonio > Raphinha + Ings (6 DGWers, BB25? WC26)

    Reported from BBC

“Cavani, Van de Beek & Pogba out for Man Utd”

Manchester United will be without Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek for Thursday's Europa League game.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that neither player will travel to Italy for the first leg as they have muscle injuries.

Solskjaer also confirmed that Paul Pogba will not play until March at the earliest after suffering a thigh injury.

How is this WC draft looking? 2.3mil itb.

    Martinez Areola
    Cancelo Stones Shaw Targett Burn
    Salah Fernandes Gundo Raphina Harrison
    Kane Bamford Ings

For GW26-- the plan is to move out Ings + Harrison to DCL and Grealish.

      Doubel Leeds' mids is interesting.

yeah, good point on Burn, I probably will go for White just for security of starts at just 0.2 more as well.

The money itb is for upgrading Harrison after the DGW to Grealish or it could be Maddison.

Any improvements to this BB26 draft chaps? Transfers in GW26 would be Ings & Raphinha -> Watkins & Maddison (-4):

    Martinez*, 4.5*
    Stones*, Cancelo*, Targett*, Shaw*, Struijk
    Salah*, Gundogan*, Fernandes*, Son*, Maddison*
    Kane*, Watkins*, Bamford

No FH for BGW29 so keeping Bamford & Struijk.

Like that. Sanchez for keeper (although only 1 game in double)?
      Anything changed since yesterday?

Cheers - yeah he's worth a shout too. Looks pretty close between Areola, Johnstone, McCarthy and Sanchez. From GW27 onwards I'll likely just be playing Martinez every week anyway as I have done up until now.

Hmm I think my original plan included DCL but this has Watkins instead and facilitates Cancelo, Targett and Maddison instead of Dias, Konsa and Barnes (from memory). Unless there's any injury news I think i'm done tinkering...

I’d be surprised if Llorente isn’t back by then. Struijk likely won’t play 29

Cheers. He's played 81 minutes only in GW11, do we think he would be Bielsa's choice over Struijk? I'm probably willing to take the risk...

Struijk was dropped in gw20 for him but Llorente got injured again within 10 minutes

Can’t you squeeze in DCL for Bamford and get him back later?
I’m also without my FH and not widcarding to prepare for GW26, and am selling Bamford. But no BB for me (too complicated), very probably playing my TC.

Cheers. It's possible but it would mean a hit in GW26 and then realistically another hit before/in GW29. It would also mean downgrading Maddison, Cancelo and Targett to Bares, Dias and Konsa. I think I'm just about better off keeping hold of Bamford and hoping DCL stays quiet (or has further hamstring issues, dare I say!)

    Is this G2G for 25?

    McCarthy
    Cancelo Shaw Struijk
    Salah Bruno Son Gundo Raphinha
    Kane Bamford (C)

    Martinez Stones Rudiger DCL

BB in 26 will see Bam and Raph out for Watkins and a 5.0 mid.

Yes. I’d play Martinez though, but that’s obviously a personal decision.

Grealish owners, what are you thinking? seems a luxury move to get rid ahead of the doubles. Is a sideways move to Barnes/Maddo worth a hit?

      Not worth a hit

I’m not doing it for free. He has been frustrating to own but the doubles are too much of a lure.

Jack slowed down a bit, but good enough to be a potentially good pick every single week and, certainly if you play like me, that is priceless.

If Villa has a double gw26 he is on of the best midfielders. Also Villa will have more days to rest as Leicester has a Europa League game.

Worth keeping an eye on - UK quarantine rules could mean certain players (especially Portguese/Brazilian) miss GW30:

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/16/pep-guardiola-warns-international-break-will-lead-to-more-covid-cases

'This means City could order Bernardo Silva, João Cancelo, Rúben Dias, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Agüero to remain at home but Guardiola said City were not currently minded to do so even though those players would then miss the game at Leicester on 3 April. '

Yes exactly - but Pep here is saying he won't use that option, so that could be Dias/Cancelo out already.
