Midfielders and forwards come under the spotlight as we round up the best Fantasy Premier League (FPL) players for Blank Gameweek 29.

With only two assets costing more than £10.0m in action, a key strategy will be finding the right budget buys for our FPL teams.

Premium options Harry Kane (£11.5m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.5m) are among the players who have already risen in price before Friday’s deadline, with Gareth Bale (£9.6m) also on the up.

But are there more cut-price options going under the radar that are worth bringing in? We’ve studied the stats to find out in the Premium Members article below.

    Best move?:

    A) Son+Stones/Cancelo to Reguillon+Lingard
    B) Son+Stones/Cancelo to Veltman+Auba

    B) Gundogan to Lingard

    or both for -4.

Lingard the better option for this week but I'd rather hold Gundo.

I wld def hold Son if i were u.. While he is injured, he has a gd fixture in week 30 against Newcastle... Wldn't want to waste a transfer! Given a choice, wld prefer B....

Tough one, I would prefer to keep Son over Gundo if I knew he would be back after the International break so maybe sell Gundo for that slot

I need to sell a either Digne or Cancelo this week, but which?

I'm thinking sell Cancelo as he isn't nailed on and could potentially miss league games in favour of champions league, while Digne has Palace and Brighton up next. Is that mad?

Think Pep will rotate in PL now. Less risk of a Digne bench but Everton returns have been rubbish recently. I'd do Cancelo now their next DGW won't be soon

Is either Veltman or Lookman worth a -2 hit this week? Which one?

    1. Deulofail
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 1 month ago

      Veltman if either.

It's about a 50/50 whether it's worth it. Simplified, he either gets 2 or 6, with is a loss or gain of 2. So, if there are other reasons to get him, then do it (e.g. future GWs).

Of course, the reality is that he could get bonus, attacking returns, which ups his points projection, and also yellows and goals conceded which... downs it.

      1. Deulofail
        • 8 Years
        3 years, 1 month ago

His PPG is something like 3.4 if you only consider games he's played 60+ mins, so I would lean against it in isolation (without those crucial additional reasons to do it).

    Martinez*, Dias, Shaw, Gundogan

If you have one of those as a long term wish, if so do that.
If not def only use 1FT so you can reverse next GW for free, in which case get the player you think most likely a good score Lingard or Bale probs.

Thanks. Happy with Cancelo to Veltman or Cresswell. Cresswell better long term but Veltman may be better this week. Can’t decide on getting rid of Salah. Happy with Mount. Not keen on double Spurs may just make the one move.

Prefer Cresswell. Ideally don't want to bring someone in only to be lumbered with them after (especially if you're considering taking a hit). I'm looking at 9 (-4), I'm hoping 8 or 9 is enough.

Help! In quite the pickle...I currently have 1FT with 0.7ITB and only my WC left. Currently I only have 5 gw29 players and this includes Son and Bamford. So with the FT used, I will have only 4-6 played, with likely only 4. I was planning on doing my WC in GW31.

However, with potentially only 4 players, should I play my wildcard with a focus on the future but also adding some GW29 players? Any advice much appreciated!!

      Pope, McCarthy
      Cancelo, Dias, Targett*, Lowton, Mitchell
      Bruno, Bale*, Son**, Gundogan, Barnes

I’m in the same boat and wild carding tomorrow I reckon to go from 5 to 9 or 10 this week, Brighton are good for this and bgw 33, Spurs and Arsenal look ok for a while , I’ll lose loads of transfer value taking out and bringing back Bruno and stones etc but we’re in the home run now so TV means less each week

Auba no, because he could be rested in the next game. Bale probably more likely to start twice in a row, given Son's absence, but also possibly the least fit right now, so I don't know, maybe? Depends on the context. There are other Arsenal midfielders that might be better than both in this circumstance, too.

I didn't but I'd consider them. Both looking pretty decent for potential goal involvement right now if they get the minutes. But there's also Odegaard, Smith Rowe and Saka, plus Tierney, who is midfielder with CSs.

            1. Lemongrab
              • 14 Years
              3 years, 1 month ago

Odegaard is the one I'd consider. He looks pretty nailed at the moment and the fact that he's not played a lot of football this seasons means he's fresher than the rest. Arteta loves him too. Saka has looked fatigued the last few games. Arteta doesn't seem to trust Pepe despite some encouraging performances and trust me, Willian has got a couple of assists recently but he's still been pretty awful.

              1. Deulofail
                • 8 Years
                3 years, 1 month ago

Let's see tonight. I think that in most games, 2 of ESR, Willian and Odegaard will play, to help unlock defences, with a preference towards the younger pair. However, the priority is the EL, so we could see Willian more in EPL than he appears in EL (except maybe tonight, because Arsenal have a clear lead in the tie (except maybe not tonight because other player(s) may get a rest (e.g. Saka, who might not be 100% right now))).

I shan't trust you on the Willian thing, I'm afraid. Awful is definitely harsh from my perspective. And let's be real, Arteta was intent on playing him while he was truly awful, so with recent form, he's unlikely to suddenly lose trust in him unless something happens in training.

I'm pretty happy with most options if I think they'll start at the weekend, though would lean towards Auba, Tierney, Saka, ESR, and Odegaard.

I'm an Arsenal fan so I watch every game, whilst Willian has been better recently he still offers very little. I agree Arteta seems to like playing him but I don't think that makes him a viable FPL option.

ESR and Odegaard I think are both good options, decent price (especially ESR) so you can accept the odd benching. They both offer something different to us too, Odegaard more of a traditional 10 whilst ESR likes to make runs beyond the defence, I think it's only a matter of time until he gets amongst the goals in the prem.

The problem really is predicting the lineup. We have quite a few options now so rotation is going to only get worse as we get further in Europe, and as you mentions Arteta will probably prioritise the EL.

I know it's the same every week but I find it absolutely astonishing that people have been making transfers already this week. Bringing in the likes of Lingard I guess is relatively safe with no midweek games, but signing the likes of Bale before midweek European football seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Are people that desperate for that 0.1m at this stage in the season?

Most would say yes, and FH would waste a transfer, so I think you've kind of put yourself on a path that it would be wise to follow through. Start working on your team for the next 2-3 GWs or until WC imo

In a similar boat. I don't think 7-8 is enough if to keep your OR. Unless you are sitting comfortable on top of a ML, I would FH and start the planning process for the next blank instead.

OR only matters after GW38. It's better to do what's right for your team to get the most points over the 38 GWs rather than compare to others every week imo

If Son is definitely out I would maybe take the -4 to do Son to Bale

Ah I thought they were both 9.5. You've got most of the big hitters covered so I think you're good, you could punt on Son to someone else depending on if you want him back after the IB.

      Barnes & Cancelo -->

      A: Bale & Veltman
      B: Lingard & Tierney

Stones has the best ppg out of all Man C players. You may want to keep.

Still can't believe he somehow managed 4 goals in his last 10 starts from 1.3 XG... a very handy 207% overperformance there!

Well, all the planning was for *nothing* haha. Had 10 players and 2 FTs, now down to possibly 7. What would you do with this lot? 2FTs, FH left

      Martinez Johnstone
      Aina Elmo Struijk Stones Dias
      Lingard Saka* Son* KdB Fernandes
      Bamford* Kane Watkins

      A) FH a full 15 players
      B) Use 2ft and play as is
      C) Take a hit(s) to get 11 guaranteed starters
      D) Roll 1/2 FTs over and just hide behind the sofa

      cheers,

      /g

You're in good shape so I'd look to use one transfer and roll the other over. Stones or Dias are the only ones I'd sell so one of those to Cresswell, Veltman or Tierney?

Thank you for the reply. Definetly a good call, Looking at Cresswell for the assist potential.

Yeah probably Dias or Stones out for Cresswell. Dallas is a good shout too, and has SHU at home for GW30 but the double-up could be a little OTT! You could of course try Stones & Dias -> Dallas and Cresswell, if you want to live a little...

Best 2 week punt mid for 10.0 or under?

      Already have Raph and Son

      Using my WC
      Sanchez (martinez)
Dallas - Adara - Alderweireld - coufal (stones)
      Auba - Bale - Lingard ( Gund - Bruno )
      Kane - Maja - Maupay

      What do you think?

Alderweireld, Coufal, Maja, Maupay... are these the players you're going to want for the rest of the season? Look at the fixtures, I would get at an absolute minimum a Chelsea and Wolves defender. Everton and Villa will have doubles coming up. I think think you're putting too much focus on having a good team this week rather than setting yourself up to attack the remainder of the season.

Would be annoying to FH with no forward I want in my XI

There's a high enough likelihood that a Kane injury is brewing somewhere in the next few weeks - Kane + packed schedules have never ended well, and after starting 5 games in 14 days up to Arsenal at the weekend, something has to give soon

Either Jose/Gareth start resting him, or he breaks

Totally agree - the best thing for England in the Euros would've been to give Kane this fortnight off I think. We have enough talent to give us a good chance of winning these matches without him.

            Yep

Main threat Poland I guess and they'll be short of their Germany based players. And I've slightly forgotten haven't they expanded the whole thing yet again so qualification is more straightforward,

With Burn seemingly out, is it worth doing a -4 to replace him with another defender below 4.5? I'll be -8 in total after this transfer(have 2FT and planning to do 3 other transfers) and have 10 playing guys for 29.
