Ben Godfrey is the English CB Man Utd need to sign to partner with Maguire. Godfrey has the pace that others (Dunk, Tarkowski, Mings etc.) don't. England defence could be very solid then:

There was definitely no flood of votes towards the UK at Eurovision, many are putting that down Brexit. As an Aussie are you thinking that pom's should boycott Fantasy Euro 2020/21.

We should just give up on the Eurovision nonsense, as it really doesn’t matter how good or how bad the song is, none of the other countries will ever vote for it anymore.

Actually the Euros should have the same format as Eurovision: no qualifying because the media want the big countries in every time. At least they admit that in Eurovision.

Would love to hear from fans of national teams playing in the EUROS.
Am putting a little something together and want to get as many opinions as possible.

If you're interested, and will be cheering for a team other than England, can you drop me a few sentences below with how you think your country will get on, who your star players are and anyone that you think we should watch out for that could be a hidden gem.

I'm German and my expectations reduced towards the "Nationalelf" reduced a lot since 2018 🙂 Having said that, if you look at the squad there is a lot of potential: Neuer, Kimmich, Sane, Mueller, Gundogan, Gnabry (ignoring a few others) are all amazing players. Being a tournament team and supporting the last tournament of Jogi Loew could play an important role. On the other side, it won't be easy to get out of a group with France and Portugal. The next rounds will not be easier. At the moment, I don't have German players in my Euro Fantasy team, but that will change after the 1st gameweek.
Would love to see/hear episodes of Black Box during the Euros. You and Mark are a great team!

      Scotland:

      Predicted Lineup:
      Marshall
      O'Donnell_Hendry_Hanley_Tierney_Robertson
      McTominay_McGregor
      Armstrong_McGinn
      Dykes

I think he'll stick with the same back 5 that did well in World Cup Qualifying. Patterson could come in for O'Donnell and Hendry could be replaced by any of the other centre backs although he is the only right footed one. Tierney and Robertson overlap.

McGinn will continue to be the attacking star, and I think Lyndon Dykes will show everyone why he is boss!

Christie and Adams could replace Dykes and Armstrong. Gilmour could play instead of McGregor (eyes on friendly games). Fraser and Forrest will be good impact subs who are both capable of changing the game.

I think that we will either finish second or third. I am hopeful that we will beat Czech Republic and get a draw in one of the other games. Lots of Scotland are optimistic about the chances of our youthful squad, with more quality coming through, both for this European Championship and future competitions.

Poland changed a manager. Now we have Paulo
Sousa. He prefers 3 at the back and will play 3-5-2 or 3-4-3. Probably starting lineup will look like
      Szczesny
      Bereszynski - Glik - Bednarek
      Jozwiak - Krychowiak - Moder - Rybus
      Milik - Lewandowski - Zielinski

He tried Helik (Barnsley) in defence but he failed imo. There’s possibility he’ll play Kędziora at RWB if wants more defensive setup

Finland here - first time in Euros/WC.

Kamara from Rangers definitely one to watch. Sexy football in the midfield.

Also of course Pukki if fit.

From defense Arajuuri (C) plays with 100% passion which is something I always appreciate.

We have tough group but Finns are known for "sisu" which means basically fighting spirit. As a relatively small country we are used to being underdogs and love to surprise as a team. Finns might have good individuals in different team sports but egoism is something that is not generally appreciated here so Finland has always done well as a team.

Looking forward to the games already!

      I'm from Denmark.
Expecting a lineup similar to the 4-0 and 2-0 wins against Austria and Isreal and the 4-2 loss against Belgium.
      4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1

      ---------------Schmeichel----------------
      Wass - Kjær - Christensen - Mæhle
      ----------Delaney - Højbjerg------------
      ---Braithwaite - Eriksen - Poulsen---
      ---------------Older Wind--------------

Some rotation may occur on both backs (Stryger Larsen, Boilesen & Skov), and I am proud to present our backup central defenders (both well known in FPL): Vestergaard & Joachim Andersen. Older Wind should start most of our matches, but Dolberg is a threat to his starts. In matches where we need aerial strength he is stronger than Dolberg who on the other hand got a bit more speed.

Eriksen is our guy on all the set pieces, and I am confident he will get the points even though Kane might try to claim the goal(s).

Home turf against Finland possibly without Pukki looks very promising imo. I expect Denmark to battle it out with Russia in the third round of group stages for the spot behind Belgium.

      Denmark 2 - 0 Finland

Well that is the 'weaker spot' yes.
Odd chance both are left on the bench moving in another central defender going into a WB system with Braithwaite and Poulsen further up and in too.

It's England and Poland for me, Polish grandparents! For me, Kamil Grosicki always tends to be getting the odd assist so would be my polish opinion in the official Euro's fantasy game. Not getting Kewa because a front three of Lukaku Kane and Mbappe looks too tempting!

Team - I think my name is a good enough hint?

Group of “death” for France but with our arrogance we don’t fear Germany nor Portugal who beat us in the final in 2016.

Benzema back to replace Giroud is immense. All of you here already know our unsung hero, Kante!

What to expect? Double or nothing = final again or don’t make it out of our group after total shambles like our WC in SA.

Wales should do quite well, although we could do with Ramsey being fit. Defence is solid - 10 cleans in the last 13 - and some decent attackers like Bale, Harry Wilson, James.

I'm backing Harry Wilson to have a good tournament. As long as we keep it tight at the back, James pace on the counter could be deadly too.

      Poland
Sadly can't see more than 1-3pts for us in the group stage. Lewandowski is not enough as our mid is really average/poor. Some are too old and some are too young. Lack of service for Lewy esp in big games. We did good at Euro 2016 as few players hit great form like Błaszczykowski or Grosicki but they won't play now.
I wouldnt invest in our def neither even we have good GKs like Szczęsny or Fabiański plus cant see any assisnt from our full backs.
      Hidden gems...maybe Moder and Jóźwiak.

I'm from Belgium and I have hi hopes for the Euros!

Only France managed to block / frustrate us during the WC 2018, but apart from that, nothing but wins and an awesome performance in the WC 2018. Watching those matches again vs Japan & Brazil still gives me the shivers!

We are at the end of our golden generation and mainly in Defense our good players are aging and will be retiring more soon (Kompany already quit, Vermaelen playing in Japan & looks injury prone, Vertonghen & Alderweireld are still decent, but coming of age, etc.).
And Witsel's injury made us all realize again that the Defensive Midfielder might even be our biggest painpoint. He plays very smart, has excellent positioning and really brings balance to our team. There simply isn't someone to replace Witsel.

This being said, we are still in a good position to shine (I mean, take a look at our GK, offensive midfield & attack)!

If Witsel can make it, my favorite lineup will be:

      ---------------------Courtois----------------------
      -- Alderweireld - Denayer - Vertonghen --
Meunier - Witsel - De Bruyne - Carrasco
      ------ Mertens - Lukaku - E. Hazard ------

Tielemans, Mertens & Castagne will be rotated in for sure for doubtful players such as E. Hazard, Witsel & Meunier
And depending on form & other injuries, you will probably also see the likes of Castagne, Chadli, T. Hazard & Dendoncker in there

      Conclusion:
      - Teams I fear the most, are Portugal & France
      - If we only meet them in the Final, anything is possible 😀

Forgot to answer the last part of the question:
        - Lukaku is in the form of his life + Belgium is a goal scoring machine, so he looks like the go-to striker
        - De Bruyne = assist king & didn't play as much matches as normal this year because of injuries
        - If Meunier can find his form again, he's always a good target for some goals/assists for a defender
        - Pun: If Tielemans will be part of the starting 11, he might be good value for money 😉

In pure fantasy terms: how nailed-on would you say is Denayer?

Hi Gilbert, sorry for the late response.
Belgian press is putting forward Vertonghen, Vermaelen & Alderweireld as a back 3.
And yesterday, Denayer wasn't too secure in an experimental Belgian team with 7 non-template players

So I wouldn't but on Denayer as a guaranteerd starter in your team

Update after reading some Belgian press & seeing the first Friendly Match vs Greece:

        GW 1:
        ---------------------Courtois----------------------
        -- Alderweireld - Vermaelen - Vertonghen --
        Meunier/Castagne - Dendoncker - Tielemans - T. Hazard
        ------ Mertens - Lukaku - Carrasco ------

(If Castagne can convince against Croatia in the second friendly match this sunday, he has a decent chance to start over Meunier)

By GW2 KDB might come in for Mertens

By GW 3 I hope to see Witsel start for Dendoncker

      My country is Austria.
We qualified quite comfortably, but the nation's football pride has since taken a heavy blow when we lost 4-0 to Denmark in March. However, the team was depleted by injuries, a ban and Arnautovic's inability to travel from China. So I consider us favourites in the opening game against Northern Macedonia, not so much against Netherlands and Ukraine.
Coach Franco Foda (yes, the one whose name means "free f****ing" in Portugese) prefers a 4-3-3 (although he is a conservative coach at heart and might switch to 3-5-2 against the Netherlands).
Personel-wise there are plenty of question marks, such as who will be in goal, where David Alaba will play and what to do with Arnautovic who hasn't been with the team since the whole Corona thing started.
But here are a few predictions/recommendations:
Goalies: stay away, all are 4.5 and one mistake away from losing the shirt in the next game
Defenders: Hinteregger is the pick of the bunch. 4.5, nailed and dangerous in set piece situations. word of caution: despite Foda's conservatism, we usually don't keep many clean sheets
Midfield: Alaba at 5.5 is good value, mainly because of set piece duties and possibly penalties. Don't expect much from open play, he'll probably play left back or central midfield. Baumgartner should be nailed-on as an inverted winger, who pops up in the box a lot and has a nose for goal. OK value at 7.0 and a possible hidden gem. Sabitzer is a very good player and plays the Mason Mount role for Austria, but why spend 8.0 when you can have the real thing for 1.0 less?
Forwards: I had hoped Sasa Kalajdzic would fly under the radar, but no, unfortunatley he's fairly priced at 7.5. Might be worth it though, as he has been a menace for Stuttgart and the national side over the last year. 2 meters high, technically adept and very good instincts. He's the reason Marko Arnautovic (7.0), Austria's main striker over the last decade, might have to play on the wings. He's still a dangerous player, but between him, Baumgartner and Kalajdzic (the main attacking players), I'd go for the latter.

Having said all this, I don't have any Austrian players in my current draft ^^

Thanks for the interesting share. Was thinking about Alaba & Arnautovic, but might stay away from them now!

No repeat of 2016; won't progress past last 16 (that's if we even manage 2nd in the group stages).

Aside from Bale, not a lot stand out -- James may look better in comparison to his peers; Brooks the surprise success if he is (and stays) fit.

I want to enter this. Can I do so without a full scout membership (I normally get one but kinda between jobs at mo.)

Here's my unbeatable Euros squad to date:

      Hradecky.
      Kjaer. Bednarek(Cap4?). Meunier. Spinazzola. Florenzi(Cap1)
      Alaba. Sudakov. KdB.
      Lukaku(Cap2). Arnie(Cap3).

      Subs: Patricio. Negro. Fernandez. Ronaldo(Cap5)

Albeit Im a Liverpool fan, I think Ole is getting a lot of unfair criticism. They have made great progress this season and at one point they were in the premier league title winners discussion after being top of the league.

2nd in the league, unbeaten away from home and a coin toss away from winning a major trophy. People can say what they want about tactics and Villarreal being a poor team but had the coin landed the right way, the narrative is completely different.

Mbappe has the best chance of going the furthest. However, I'd probably bet on KdB or Lukaku to score lot in the GS so probably them. Where are you playing this draft game? I'd like to play one with my mates too.

I go for Lukaku and Lewandowski for the 1st GW. They have easier games. If you can afford bring in Kane or Fernandez in as well. Mbappe is always an option, but first he has a potentially more difficult game (which might not bother him)

My strategy is to go for the unlimited chip for the 2nd GW and possibly Wildcard in the 3rd. For the best of 16 you get unlimited transfers and then it gets tricky with only 3 for the quarterfinals (for which unlimited or Wildcard might useful as well). Good luck whatever you do!

Sorry, just saw it's a draft league...
In that case Lukaku, Mbappe, KdB, Lewandowski, Kane, Fernandez

Lewandowski might not go very far, but he will score a couple goals in the group stage

Arnautovic? I'm not sure. I recently heard that Kalajdzic had a very good season in Germany and scored quite well in his first games for Austria. I'd be willing to take a punt on him for the first game as a potential player to sub out and potentially replace afterwards. Haven't heard much about Arnautovic since he left PL

@ChandlerBing - we do this completely ad hoc through a setup on Google Sheets (I'm hoping I can just create 10 teams on the official site after the draft); so like you mentioned, picking players that advance is key

@11SmellyShirts - both you and Chandler Bing mention Lukaku and that's who I had penciled in at #1 as well; I also like KdB b/c I'm afraid there won't be a premium mid on the way back in the draft with the 20th pick; Picking 1st doesn't feel like a great advantage for this!
