It’s Friday, which means another Fantasy Bundesliga deadline is upon us.

Here is our selection of the best Matchday 9 (MD9) options.

GOALKEEPERS

FABIAN BREDLOW (1.6m), MARIUS FUNK (1.1m)

Fabian Bredlow will start between the sticks once again for Stuttgart after Florian Müller was ruled out with Covid-19. At just 1.6m, he got 13 points in Matchday 8’s (MD8) 1-1 draw with Gladbach, making plenty of saves. Stuttgart face a solid Union Berlin, but Bredlow is simply too cheap to ignore.

This also applies to Greuther Fürth’s Marius Funk. He’s set to start again for the visit to RB Leipzig. Fürth will certainly concede plenty of shots, so there’s a lot of room for save points. When you can have two starting goalkeepers for 2.7m, you don’t say no.

DEFENDERS

ANGELINO (14.1m), JOE SCALLY (2.7m), NICO SCHULZ (5.6m), NIKO GIESSELMANN (4.4m), SILVAN WIDMER (7.2m)

After his MD8 benching, Angelino started and grabbed two assists against Paris St-Germain in Leipzig’s 3-2 loss on Tuesday. The Spaniard got nine and 19 points against Bochum and Hertha respectively and faces a winless Greuther Fürth side that are rooted to the bottom of the table. Now he seems to have returned to being a wing-back after Jesse Marsch implemented a three-at-the-back system, Angelino has massive attacking threat and Leipzig have a good chance at a clean sheet against a very poor Fürth side.

If you don’t own Joe Scally yet, you’ll soon want to. Gladbach’s second highest-scorer in Bundesliga Fantasy this season, he’s picked up 34 points in his last three games and looks to have nailed down a place in the side. Gladbach face a Hertha Berlin side with the worst defence in the league, so there’s plenty of opportunities for Scally to pick up points. When he costs 2.7m, getting the American in is a no-brainer.

Nico Schulz is Borussia Dortmund’s replacement for Raphael Guerreiro. Whilst the German doesn’t quite have the same skillset or output as his Portuguese counterpart, he’s still a great option against Arminia Bielefeld – a side that have scored just four goals this season. Getting a Dortmund full-back for 5.6m is a steal and Schulz should get some attacking freedom in this tie as well.

Niko Giesselmann continues to be a great pick for his price, regardless of opposition. Union are a much better side than Stuttgart and Giesselmann should be regularly getting forward in this tie, as well as a good chance of a clean sheet in the fifth-best Bundesliga defence.

Silvan Widmer and Mainz 05 have a plum fixture on Friday evening, against an Augsburg side who’ve scored four goals this season and are yet to win on the road. Although Mainz’s defensive stats have worsened over the last few games (not registering a clean sheet since Matchday 5), Augsburg present a great opportunity for Bo Svensson’s side to get back to winning ways. Widmer registered 46 points over the first five Matchdays and grabbed an assist against Greuther Fürth, highlighting what he’s capable of.

MIDFIELDERS

CHRISTOPHER NKUNKU (15.4m), FILIP KOSTIC (15.4m), FLORIAN WIRTZ (12.6m), JONAS HOFMANN (13.5m), WOO-YEONG JEONG (4.9m)

Christopher Nkunku is in the form of his life and RB Leipzig have the best fixture of this Matchday, and potentially the best fixture of their season, on MD9. Nkunku has registered 28 shots this season, joint-eighth highest in the league, and is against bottom side Greuther Fürth. Leipzig’s wins over Bochum, Hertha and Stuttgart have shown what they can do against bottom-half sides at home. Nkunku is perhaps the single best pick at any position on MD9.

Filip Kostic is back in form for Eintracht and has a visit to VfL Bochum this weekend. Kostic now has 60 points in his last five games, even picking up nine points in the loss to Hertha Berlin last Matchday. Bochum have been very poor at the back and should afford the Serbian winger plenty of opportunities to rack up points for chances created and shots on goal, as well as goals and assists.

As with Nkunku, Florian Wirtz is in unbelievable form, even managing to pick up an assist in the 5-1 loss to Bayern in MD8. Wirtz now has either a goal or an assist in his last seven Bundesliga games and his six assists are the joint-highest in the league. After Köln’s 5-0 battering by Hoffenheim exposed their defensive weaknesses, Leverkusen have the strength across the pitch to take advantage of these. Wirtz will undoubtedly be at the heart of that against his former club.

The highest-scoring midfielder throughout MD8 was Jonas Hofmann is emerging as Gladbach’s key attacking piece after three consecutive double-digit hauls. They face Hertha Berlin, who have conceded the most goals in the league this season, whilst Hofmann has racked up 19 shots from just five starts. He could run riot for Die Fohlenelf.

With his goal last weekend, Woo-Yeong Jeong confirmed that he scores whenever I don’t own him. The Freiburg forward got a goal and 15 points against RBL on MD8. Unbeaten Freiburg now visit a Wolfsburg side without a win in seven games and Jeong should have plenty of opportunities to add to his three goals this season.

FORWARDS

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI (18.4m), ERLING HAALAND (18m), ANDRE SILVA (15.1m)

Robert Lewandowski is the league’s joint-top scorer, has taken the most shots and is playing in the best team. A home game against Hoffenheim presents another fantastic opportunity for the Pole to rack up big points.

Erling Haaland is back fit and in form for Dortmund. A visit to Arminia Bielefeld should spell points for the Norwegian once again. With both Haaland and Lewandowski in this kind of form, you really cannot afford to ignore either of them.

Is Andre Silva finally coming good for Leipzig? The Portuguese striker scored in the Champions League on Tuesday and looked dangerous throughout. With a home tie against Greuther Fürth up next, the former Eintracht forward could be an explosive differential if Jesse Marsch has finally worked out how to use him.

Is Maupay to Auba worth -4 or not?

I can see the thinking, given Brighton's fixtures, but Laca could start for Arsenal and Auba get shifted out left so might need to be prepared for that. My gut feeling is to avoid this particular hit

You could hold this week or Jota, might not be worth a hit.

The other 3 could perform and I'd likely stick with Greenwood and see how Benrahma gets on.

Saka may well be back too.

    should I start Livra instead?
