Pras and Sonaldo the latest additions to the Fantasy Football Scout team

Fantasy Football Scout has added another two names to their ever-growing team of global contributors: long-time member Pras and Sonaldo.

Viewers of our YouTube channel will likely be well aware of who the pair are, as they have been at the helm of a weekly Burning Questions series over the last month or so.

Their impressive levels of research and preparation for this video strand have made it a popular hit already, so we’re delighted to welcome the pair to the Scout squad as Pro Pundits going forwards.

The data-loving duo will be mostly continuing to work on our video content but there’ll be occasional articles from the pair, too.

Sonaldo and Pras will be back with a Burning Questions video over the international break but, if you haven’t seen it already, make sure you check out last week’s chat on Aston Villa assets below:

Our Pro Pundits are Fantasy Premier League players who boast a combination of impressive records, a good reputation in the community and who are happy to provide information that relates to their specific play styles, tactics and decisions.

Each week, a selection of these players will write about any subject that they choose, offering a wide variety of topics written by seasoned Fantasy Football managers. Others will appear on Fantasy Football Scout videos.

He has scored over 8 points once in his last 12 game weeks, not essential by any means.

As a non Salah owner I want Egypt to lose, so I can become a Salah owner for GW24 with confidence he’ll be ready.

      Tough man.

I'd say Edouard, Broja and ASM but there are many who can find a good argument for Watkins/Antonio.

I’m thinking your first 2 and then Watkins simply because of the Villa fixtures.

ASM could be huge for the Toon in the battle for safety.

Watkins flatters to deceive for now and I still have him! 7 blanks in his last 10 games. Not much better than Broja but for too much more.

Watkins was more to do with possible DGW and downgrading Kane to free up funds.
Only player id consider is Edouard over Antonio but i think most are hit and miss tbh.

Edouard's starting to hit form now that Benteke's gerting less gametime. A Celtic supporter tells me Edouard is a class act, has no doubts he'll be a top PL striker.

Yeah im tempted, but used my tfr to bring in Robertson and potential -4 to get Salah in
Edouard could do well against Norwich, but im reeeaaally hoping Antonio against Watford and Watkins against Leeds pays off

Predicting who will do better out of Antonio, Watkins and Edouard could be annoying and i really dont want to get into the habit of switching each week haha

    1.1m ITB & 2FTs

    DDG
    TAA - Cancelo - Reguilon
    Foden - Jota - Silva - Bowen
    Watkins - Dennis - Ronaldo

    Bachmann - Coufal - White - Martinelli

Which sets of transfers do you prefer over the next few weeks to get Salah back in the squad?

    A) Ronaldo + Martinelli + Jota + Silva > Edouard + Salah + Son + Ramsey

    B) Ronaldo + Silave + Martinelli > Edouard + Salah + Maddison/Coutinho

With either of these options, I'm not sure what transfer to do this week.

Chip/strategy thoughts for the end of the season

Assuming you have all chips remaining, the most logical chip usage for the run-in imo is:
    FH27, FH30, WC35, BB36

It uses each of the chips most optimally but that's only if you have a strong squad that can navigate until WC35. A lot of us are quite far from our ideal teams which could make an earlier WC much better.

FH27 is optional depending on how many Liverpool, Leicester, Chelsea, Arsenal players you have in your squad. The best approach to that is to only have 2 Liverpool players and bench them that week while keeping MUN and MCY players if you want to save your FH. I'm leaning against that though especially if Liverpool get a rumored DGW in 26. You'll want 3 of them for that week which makes FH27 much more appealing.

The other thought I have is around Man United assets. Assuming the Rangnick slip is true, that means United double in GW25. That also means that once United have played that DGW they will have no more games in hand. It's a perfect opportunity to ship them immediately in GW26 WC or GW28 when their good fixtures run out. WC'ing them out is the fastest way to ship them and without taking hits.

If Spurs double in 26, that makes WC26 very appealing. You would lose DDG, Ronaldo, Fernandes, Dalot on a WC to attack Spurs players who are similar price point while FH'ing the United guys back in for their WAT fixture in GW27.

WC in 28 is also quite nice because we should get a clearer view of the remaining doubles and it's the end of United's good fixture run so a great time to move on someone like DDG. We still plan to FH30 but we can have an eye on the GW33-36 doubles and keep a flexible squad with the goal to BB36 or even earlier if the doubles hit nicely.

Personally, I think GW28 is when I think I'd look to WC if I can keep up and put out a competitive team for the next few weeks. 26 if the doubles swing is favorable from United > Spurs. Of course if your team is still hanging in there and doing well, I'd look to hold WC until GW35 but I can't see that happening tbh. There are too many doubles to attack and it'll cost us too many hits. With good planning, we can bench players like Maddison, Webster, Martinelli, with lots of games in hand and pull them out whenever we need them. Will take some clever planning but that's what it's all about!

If someone is able to navigate GW27 through FTs, and follow the other steps of using FH in 30, WC in 35, BB in 36, then when do you think is the next logical opportunity to use the 2nd Free Hit chip?

      1. Camzy
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Probably between GW31-35 where there will be DGWs.

And since we wouldn't know how the doubles would fall from 31 to 34 I guess we therefore don't know if 27 will be better or anything between 31 to 35 will be better. That makes me think that saving FH in 27 might lead to either a more optimum FH anywhere between 31 to 35, or a fun FH in 38.

            • Fantasy Football Scout Member

            Not really.

Because losing 3x Liverpool from your team makes FH in 27 a much more noticeable upgrade. I always want to FH blanks over DGWs because the value is guaranteed. You know for a fact that your 3x Liverpool won't play and the FH guys will. So you can wield your full budget to target it. Players like Bruno and KdB who you otherwise wouldn't be able to get if you bench Salah.

Assuming United do double in 25, are you planning to go without Salah until after that? I can get him in for free this GW, but would mean losing Bruno who I'd likely want for that double.

There is the TC to consider also.
For me I feel the WC is best used after a BB to redistribute funds from the bench to the starting 11. Currently the bench is needed with so much uncertainty, but come spring we may not need to rely on our benches so much.

I think this season is different because of the spread of DGWs.

That means holding players like King, Webster, Gray in the past have been wasted value but this season, they are stored DGWs which will likely land between GW31-36.

I forgot TC though. That will be on Salah in GW26 if it happens which rules out the GW26 WC.

      Cheers Camry good thoughts.

On balance wc28 feels about right to get the balance between optimal chip strategy as originally planned but also making most of the outstanding doubles

Once you commit to that, it puts you in a strong position to attack the great fixtures in GW26 with 3x Liv & 2x Ars (also potential DGW for Arsenal - 1.47 on Mikkel Tokvam's chart). Currently thinking I'll just stick with Salah & KDB (over Bruno) through Man Utd DGW but potentially lining up KDB - Son around the time you identify. Son is probably enough Spurs for me though

      Very good post.

As a holder of all possible chips, and having a decent team with enough money ITB to get both Salah and either Fernandes or Ronaldo, I am starting to see the benefit of WCing into a massive stack of doubles and, possibly, trebles. The specifics are making my head spin a little, but the basic idea of forgetting about it all until GW27 is easy to follow.

Aahh WC GW28, sounds familiar to me 😉

I still have all my chips except for the first FH. Personallyy I think BB is a very overrated chip, therefore the WC+BB strategy, despite looking good on paper to 'maximize' the WC potential, is also very overrated, especially late in the season when it's even harder to predict the lineup given the motivation of each team (eg. title wrapped up, teams on beach, etc ).

FH in BGW is definitely very viable and sound strategy, but I wouldn't rule out WCing in say BGW30 if the players are worth holding onto even after the blank. All depends on the fixtures I guess.

atm I'm considering WC 28 or 30, FH in 36, BB when my bench looks strong that week (especially my sub keeper) snd TC Mo in his DGW.

This, dead end my team for 27 WC 28 jump on Chelsea then FH in 30 and BB 32 or 36. I like having a full 10 weeks of my WC to the end of season

I've WCed already, but have looked at the ticker from 28 & am well set up for Arsenal (Tierney & Martinelli), Leeds (Raphinha), Southampton (Broja), Wolves (Sa, Ait Nouri). My shortlist for buys around that time would be: James (if fit & playing WB), Son, Maddison, and maybe Mount, Vardy/Iheanacho

I like this strategy very well. Yep WC is team specific and to me very precious, so playing it very late in the season is very wasteful. Plus based on experience, I saw many people forced the WC+BB move at the later stage, missing a lot of opportunities beforehand snd not getting the reward as expected.

FHing the blanks makes sense to me, no chance of those in your squad not playing outscoring those you select on FH

TC26 (Salah if Pool get DGW), FH30, FH33, WC36, BB37, can bench Salah and TAA in GW27

Good stuff, thanks for sharing. WC28 has been in the back of my mind for a little while, but I'm also keeping an open mind to consider alternatives.

As things stand, I would only be a couple of moves away from fielding a competitive GW27 team, so I might hold the FH, maybe dead-end into 27 which makes WC28 more appealing.

But then again I do still have all chips remaining so perhaps there might not be a more opportune moment. Maybe a short-notice DGW I won't have been able to plan for. We'll see.

As a KdB and Bruno owner, I'm following Salah's progress at Afcon with interest (like everyone else)!

Looking forward to discussing our plans further as the DGW picture becomes clearer.

    Hey guys!

I've put together a mid-season survey for anyone and everyone that uses Fantasy Football Scout.

You might remember the end of season survey that we carried out before the start of the season. It was brilliant to get over 1,000 responses to that, and it's been absolutely crucial in helping us move things forward and to see where we stand.

I'd greatly appreciate it if you could all spend 15 minutes or so filling out the mid-season survey which lives here:

    Mid Season survey: https://form.typeform.com/to/v5Jyh01H

Separately, if you've used the FFS Transfer Planner since it's implementation a few months ago, there's a seperate survey for that here. This one will take less than 5 minutes to complete:

    FFS Transfer Planner survey: https://form.typeform.com/to/bWsZXSaU

    Thanks all!

        Hey Jarvis,

No they're not, it's all internal currently. More than happy to share some things below though.

The results of the survey overall were very positive positive, could argue that engaged FFS users biased the sample in some way, but it was really good to see FFS rated highly across aspects such as functionality, editorial content etc. It was also really interesting to see where the main interests are (people really love their Team News) so this has helped us to create and develop new ways of creating this type of content.

There's quite a few things being worked on behind the scenes for the Members Area that came up in the survey (e.g. points per Gameweek) and pushing for the Transfer Planner was a direct result of the survey.

In terms of video, I learned a lot about what people want and perhaps weren't getting before, so there's been some shuffling round of content and improvements have been made to various content on YT, and we now convert all YT videos into Podcast form.

We've also listened to feedback regarding gambling advertisements on site (of which there aren't any currently), and we are looking at ways in which people will be able to filter content that they are not interested in.

Feel free to hit me up (az@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk) if you want to hear more!

Ah Sonaldo - the guy who uses a thousand words to say something when a hundred would have done. Always seems to be interviewing Pras to get tips for his own team.
Every episode seems to drag on and on as they talk about their mates and how good they are and wax lyrical about how much they adore each other and are so pleased to be working together.
GREAT content, but so tangled in non content. If they tightened it up it might come closer to the planned 30 minutes instead of dragging on for ninety (check out Nym and Kylie for tight content).
