We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a weekday series that serves non-Premier League matchdays and days when we don’t bring you a team news/press conference round-up.

The headline story was the announcement of Double Gameweek 26, with eight teams – including Liverpool – set to play twice.

We’ve further coverage of the wider Blank/Double Gameweek picture in our summary article, while you can read the early Gameweek 26 team thoughts of five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman here.

Thursday also saw a number of Premier League managers give press conferences ahead of the weekend’s cup fixtures and we’ve rounded up the key quotes and injury updates in this article.

WILL SALAH START IN GAMEWEEK 24?

FPL Daily: Walker’s European ban, Liverpool target Diaz and AFCON latest 4

“Four days is enough recovery time” versus “there’s no way he starts”.

Whichever camp you fall in with regards to Mohamed Salah‘s (£12.7m) Gameweek 24 game-time prospects will probably be influenced by whether you own the Egyptian in FPL or not.

Anyone who belongs to the first clique will surely be less confident now, however, after Salah and Egypt made it through to the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday, where Sadio Mane (£11.7m) and Senegal await.

That final takes place four days before Liverpool’s Gameweek 24 fixture against Leicester City, so there has to be more than a bit of doubt about how many minutes the premium pair will be afforded on their return to Premier League action.

It’s not just the four-day turnaround, which isn’t too bad, but the match-time that Salah has accumulated since Egypt’s first group game on January 11.

FPL’s leading points scorer has already started six AFCON games ahead of the final and the last three have all gone to extra-time, so it was impossible (a stoppage-time substitution aside) to have logged any more game-time than the 630 minutes of football he has racked up; that’s the equivalent of seven 90-minute run-outs in just over three weeks.

Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be keen to get his talisman back in action as quickly as possible, with the Reds’ title tilt still just about alive – the question is how keen, and can he afford to even consider giving Salah a post-tournament breather like the one Pep Guardiola handed Riyad Mahrez (£8.6m) with so much on the line.

I agree. 3x120 minutes, he needs a rest. I expect both Salah and Mane to be unused substitutes if not needed to win a game after 67 minutes.

I'll risk a one-point cameo as I have sound bench cover if he doesn't show, but I won't be captaining him.

So i've just persuaded myself to play my w/c 😛
    It comes down to this

    Son / Weghorst

    Or

    Elanga / Kane

Hadn't really considered Son as i like Kane's recent upturn in numbers. Doesn't mean im wrong though. 😀

      Same problem, except im;

      Kane + Elanga
      Broja + Son

Guess we need to wait to sort what Son is like if he plays in the cup.

Yup classic fpl fair i feel. Elanga looks a perfect budget enabler considering the double.
On the big hitters from Spurs, 3-5-2 points to Son i reckon and maybe 4-3-3 favouring Harrold.....but i just don't think we can expect Conte to stick to just the one formation

I have been a Salah owner hoping Egypt will fail.

But he still be in my gw24 team if he comes of the bench. Less likely if they win

But then it is only 2 days until the next game.

As a KDB owner Ithe big question I'd whether to play him away to norwich or swap to Bruno and hold a transfer

On top of all the minutes in AFCON, Salah will surely get rested quite a bit this month.

    2/10 Leicester
    2/13 Burnley
    2/16 Inter
    2/19 Norwich
    2/23 Leeds

He will get rested but plays in champions league games that doesnt matter.

      Jota always gets rested

I wouldn't bring him in until gw26 but should have in hindsight moved to Fernandes in man utd double.

But as an owner I will start him and hope he gets some points from a 20 minute cameo against Leicester

Best route here? Same number of hits / DGWers:

    (B)

GW26: Keane, Bruno, Brownhill -> Tierney, Martinelli, Son (-4)

That would mean 1 less DGWer or an extra -4 though. Still reckon it’s worth it, especially given all the options at MCY, ie it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise to see KDB get a rest.

Thinking just TC Salah in 26, 1st FH 27 and WC 28, 2nd FH 30 or 33 is the obvious route for this team with the fixtures (swings)?
What do we reckon? Anything else to consider?

Save FT in 24, (3 transfers before 26 for Salah), FH 27, WC 28.
    DDG.
    Tierney, TAA, Cancelo, Laporte.
Raphinha, Foden, Jota (vc), Bowen (c).
    Ronaldo, Antonio.
    Bach, Dalot, Martinelli, King.
    1ft, 3.3m ITB.
    2 FH's, WC, TC left.

Liverpool chelsea Arsenal Leicester all miss GW27. If this were not the case we would have 3 Pool, probably 2 Arsenal and Maddison with a view to get Chelsea assets GW28. Thi leaves a lot of us in a mess.
What are our plans to deal with it? As Weeb says above, Salah TC is a no go if using other chips in GW26 and GW 27 needs ManU, Citeh who have no DEGW 26.
It tells me to keep Citeh assets hoping the rotation issues are kind to us and move to Chelsea in GW28.
A WC could be a good call in GW28 and accept GW27 will be limited in points for many of us.
I might be having 3 Pool on the bench in GW27 and no Arsenal assets in GW26 with a good DGW. Maddison can wait.
Let us hope for some fill ins for Arsenal and Leicester.

A common thread but not sure the value is there. Do I want the GW26 side going into GW28?

I looked and I don't think the net gain is good enough IMO

So for DGW26 are you not planning to bring in any Arsenal players or do you already have some?

Only ramsdale. I will have 8 DGW' by then hopefully.

currently only have 3 players from those clubs, (2 Liv, 1 Leic) for gw26 that will likely be 6 players, leaving me with 9 players for 27, which isn't a big deal as 1ft gets me 10 which is probably enough, or i could take a hit to get 11

Yeah. I have 2 Warford that will create suffering. I would rather have a single GW player who is good.

Wildcarding now with 3 Liverpool and 2 arsenal for 26

Will spend 1 move to remove the outfield arsenal and have 11 for 27

Personally not worried about Leicester until they have doubles and not rushing to Chelsea either, james the only one there worth having from what I can see right now

      My plan is:

GW26: 8 DGW players with FTs (TC on Salah)
      GW27: 11 players with a hit
      GW28: WC
      GW30: FH
      GW36: FH (If it's a big DGW).

Will use BB whichever week looks best.

I plan to FH in 26 and fill the 1st team with 10-11 double gameweekers.

Will have 3 x Utd and 3 x City for GW25 who will come back for gw27. No fixtures stand out in gw27 apart from Utd and possibly City so think it may be a waste of a chip unless you don't have many City or Utd.

      WC in 28.

As juicy as those two home fixtures are to put the TC on Salah, you'll most likely have to FH in 27 as well to cover the Liverpool blank that week

FH a waste IMO. I will save the one I have to later weeks

Benching Tierney & Martinelli 25. TC Salah 26. FH27 - want to keep Salah, Trent, Tierney, Martinelli & maybe Robbo (although may shift him to James in 28 if fit). FH loads up on Man Utd, Spurs, City who I dont really want after that (well, Cancelo will stay & I might consider Son longer-term but might just go without)

Hey, have 2ft and 4,5m itb. what would the moves be here? can't afford kdb with one move.. cheers!

    taa - cancelo - reguilon
    bernardo - jota - bowen - bruno - saka
    watkins - antonio

    (foster - dennis - keane - livra)

    a) bernardo -> ?
    b) reguilon / keane -> digne?

Bernardo to KDB seems the logical choice.

Can you make up the difference by downgrading Keane (or Reg) to Dalot?

cheers! yeah, that works! would you rather move reguilon or keane? also, i assume dalot will play both on dgw?

Don't have Reg but I'm definitely planning on doing Keane to Dalot for GW25.

Keane was an awful punt I need to correct
