Our regular look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) set-piece takers details which players are on penalties, corner-kicks and free-kicks at their respective clubs.

Our Set-Piece Takers tab rounds up our estimated pecking order at any given time but these shorter-term recaps look at what’s happened in the Gameweek just gone.

A not insignificant 21.8% of all goals scored in the Premier League last season came from set plays, with penalties responsible for a further 7.8%.

Based on the data collection in our Premium Members Area, here is a breakdown from the latest round of matches (Liverpool and Manchester United will be added after tonight’s match).

GAMEWEEK 3: KEY OBSERVATIONS AND NOTEWORTHY CHANGES

  • With the season settling down, set-piece pecking orders are starting to become apparent and there were few notable changes on the corner/indirect free-kick front from Gameweek 2.
  • New signings and budget assets Neco Williams (£4.0m), Andreas Pereira (£4.5m) and Marcus Tavernier (£5.0m) have added direct free-kick responsibility on top of their duties from corners and indirect free-kicks, each registering an effort in Gameweek 3.
  • Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) has now scored with three of the four direct free-kicks he has taken for Newcastle United.
  • Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) was again on penalty-taking duties for Crystal Palace but this was his third miss in six attempts from 12 yards.
  • Alexis Mac Allister (£5.5m) has now taken Brighton and Hove Albion’s last three penalties, scoring the most-recent two attempts. Pascal Gross (£5.7m) was on the field for Mac Allister’s spot-kick in Gameweek 3.

I'm in a similar boat with triple Chelsea. I think Leicester and Southampton are good fixtures though. If I was taking Cucurella out I'd personally want someone with more chance of attacking returns than Gabriel

So if Man Utd win today, they will go above Liverpool in the table. Considering the pressure ten Hag is under, no wonder Jürgen was so angry with Gabby Agbonlahor….

Agbonlahor is a sad individual that never amounted to anything and is taking his frustrations out on others.

Huge benching headaches, yes, but an awesome BB chip early doors whilst there’s good value around.

Also, benches will be playing soon, either due to rotation etc and/or because of five subs…

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has already played 41 passes into the box through two Premier League match days this season, 15 more than the next player on the list

Please people can you start removing Trent from your teams, imagine what you can do with that money.
It gives the rest of us a chance to make some gains

Lost at the bottom. Any threemiums still out there?

Mine's been a failure but I'm not sure when and how to wildcard... what are you thinking? Would you look to wildcard this?

Planned move with my 1FT this week is to do Iversen to Sanchez. Downgrade Son later...

        Ward
        TAA James Walker Saliba
        Salah Son Martinelli Andreas/Dasilva

Cool, thanks. As bad a start as I've had (2m rank), I'm wary of wildcarding without a clear plan of the big changes I'd make

How nailed is Aaronsen in a fully fit Leeds team? Or should I just accept that Rodrigo is the much better pick?

        Mount and Neto to:

I prefer Harrison to be honest.

8 G 10 A two seasons ago. He looks to be in at least that type of form or better this season. Rodrigo has never approached those numbers and when Bamford is back he will drop back behind him. Plus you save 0.3 😉

OR currently 5.6mill - going well so far 🙂

            Highlights so far:
GW1 - Bench Zinchenko at last min, miss his 12pts
GW2 - Bench Trippier for Zinc - 6 pt swing
GW3 - Last min swap, bench Andreas for DaSilva - 7 point swing
Held Rashford for GW3 after considering Rodrigo for a -4, but thought Chelsea would be tough. Just waiting on Rashford getting a red tonight.

Salah Cap tonight could give a little rank boost, but I'm not holing my breath.

Don't worry about the rank, I'll probably be there later without any Liverpool lol

              GW1 - no Salah, no City/Chelsea defense
GW2 - Mitrovic penalty miss, Digne trolling, Odegaard over Martinelli losing points, Aaronson over Rodrigo continues to be a huge loss in points.
GW3 - got rid of Odegaard for Martinelli, Son and Sterling (C) continue to stink out my team.

For all the many rubbish decisions you'll make there might be some good ones e.g. KDB, transferring Perisic in this week. But for most of us it's just disappointment so have fun along the way!

Is it worth taking a -4 hit for the following?

            Mount/Neco Williams --> Rodrigo & Robertson

            Walker Cancelo TAA James (Neco)

What are people's thoughts on Mount?

I know he's a popular transfer out but his next fixture is at home to a Leicester side who've started terribly. His next fixture after that is away to Southampton. Chelsea have won 8 of their last 9 games at St Mary's, with Mount himself having 4 goals and 2 assists in 6 games vs Southampton.

I think I'm going to hold onto him but happy to be convinced otherwise.

Badly off form at the moment.

Could hold for one more week and see how he does at home against a leaky Leicester defence but Kulu, Diaz and Maddison are all better options at that price.

            Tricky one, play one:

            B) Cucurella (LEI) - will likely play at LCB

LCB for Chelsea doesn't necessarily mean they can't contribute going forward. We saw how ridiculously high up the pitch Rudiger was most of last season. So I would probably go Cucurella

Cool - and in agreement with you, will see plenty of underlapping runs with Chilwell hogging the touchline

              Tricky one indeed.

I'd say Cucurella but not by much

            A) Walker to Perisic
            B) Kulu to Diaz (Seems a complete 50/50 this, dont think im even really considering it)
            C) Hold

            Mendy (Ward)
Taa - Robbo - Walker (Neco, Patterson)
Kdb - Martinelli - Kulu - Rodrigo (Andreas)
            Jesus - Toney - Haaland

            1ft
            0.5 itb

What to do with this lot? 1FT & 0.8m ITM

            Ramsdale
            TAA - Cancelo - James - Dunk
            Salah - Mount - Martinelli - Bailey
            Haaland - Jesus

            Ward - Andreas - Neco - Taylor

Looking at Mount + Bailey > Rodrigo + Gundogan/Zaha - either for a hit this week or roll FT and do it next week. Thoughts?

You could hold as both Mount and Bailey have favourable home fixtures against weak opposition.

Rodrigo and Gundo/Zaha does have a lot more upside though than Mount and Bailey so a hit wouldn't be the worst move. Or maybe just do Mount to Rodrigo this week and consider who to upgrade Bailey to for gw5

I think there's a good chance. Many of us have naff all from our defence so far due to Chelsea and City fails. I've not seen any credit given to the phenomenal tactical masterclasses prepared by Howe and Marsch. It's not really our fault if we didn't see it coming, and it was great for football. Tonight, well ETH may be a good manager, but his troops have definitely not imbibed his tactics. Should be witnessing a quite different battle here.

I wouldn't transfer James out for anyone tbh. He's still one of the best value assets in the game imo. Hopefully Tuchel stops playing him at RCB though

It's a long term move and if it avoids price increases but I wouldn't expect too much from Leeds assets this week vs a resolute Brighton side
