Researchers at The University of West London, La Trobe University and Nottingham Trent University are investigating the impact of Fantasy Football on its most passionate fans – and they want your help.

It has become a huge global game and continues to grow each year. Despite this, little is known about the positive and negative mental effects that involvement in Fantasy Football may have on individuals, with only one previous study on this topic currently published (Wilkins et al., 2021). The study you are invited to take part in focuses on this topic and aims to build on what we know so far.

You can begin the survey by clicking here

Participation involves completing a questionnaire. In addition, you will be asked five open-ended questions about your experiences of playing Fantasy Football, as well as questions about your behaviours and attitudes concerning the game.

You will also be asked about your personality and the potential effects that playing Fantasy Football has on your mental health and more general emotions. It is estimated that the study will take between 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

All data will remain confidential and anonymous. You will not be asked for your name or any other identifying features at any point. You are free to not answer any questions which you do not wish to answer. However, questions you do answer must be answered as truthfully and honestly as possible for us to obtain accurate findings.

Only the principal investigators involved can access the study data, which may also be used in future reports such as academic journals and conference presentations. However, again, no individual will be identifiable through such publication.

Participants are free to withdraw at any point, either during the data collection stage or for up to three weeks following it, by contacting the research team and providing the unique code they generated at the start of the questionnaire pack. In this eventuality, all of the withdrawing participant’s data will be destroyed immediately.

If you have any questions or thoughts about the questionnaire – or the topic in general – please feel free to contact Dr Jamie Churchyard at jamie.churchyard@uwl.ac.uk.

Considering getting rid of Robbo but Bournemouth at home is tasty especially since I think they will definitely bounce back

    Ramsdale
    TAA, Robbo, RJ, Cancelo, Trippier
    Salah, Martinelli, Rodrigo

I have a question and hope one of you can explain me why didn't Liverpool sign a top class midfielder yet and what are they waiting for?

I guess Bellingham is still their #1 pick but will he really be cheaper next year after (most likely) another amazing season? Yeah, I know that Dortmund will demand a lot for him but he's one of the hottest prospects in football for a reason and his price is only going up. Nunes was one of the targets, available for reasonable fee but signed for Wolves later. They really need to buy someone, otherwise I can't see them competing for the title with this injury prone midfield.

Dont know but yeah, midfield really needs an upgrade.
Outside Fabinho they really lack a star player there.

On the other hand kuddos for showing faith in Elliot and C Jones.

But Milner shouldnt be anywhere near the starting 11 these days

The biggest problem is buying the wrong player or overpaying for a player that might flop.

Yes Liverpool might not have the best midfield but they can deliver under Klopp. The almost won the league last season again with the midfield they have.

Man City and LFC have small squads as it makes the competition for places tighter. Their transfer policy is also very similar to try avoid dud players.

UTD's win last night does not mean much long term.

Rodrigo was the club captain for 3 seasons at Valencia I think. I'm sure he's got the experience to keep a starting place and the main role too.

With this form Marsch must be crazy to bench him.
Even with everyone fit, including bamford i can still see him being pen taker.
Whether he can sustain this form is whole other question

Haaland, Rodrigo and Dunk or Kane, Rashford and Saliba?

Tough one, I would probably choose Haaland, Rodrigo & Dunk

How would you improve this team with 2 free transfers? Thinking of selling Mount, but I am also open to give him one more week. Cant really find other slots to improve and do not want to burn a transfer.

    2 FT, 1.0 ITB

    Sanchez
    TAA - Cancelo - James - Trippier
    Salah - Mount - Martinelli - Aaronson
    Haaland - Jesus
    (Ward - Andreas - Neco - Archer)

Is Bruno G a complete dead option now fpl wise? Still have him in my team, but I'm happy everywhere else, so thinking of keeping hold for a bit longer?

    Sanchez (Steele)
    TAA Cancelo Gabriel Perisic (Neco)
    Martinelli BrunoG Rash Rodrigo (Pereira)
    Haaland Kane Jesus

Got this team atm before the price changes and on a wildcard with 5,5m ITB

    Sanchez Ward
    Cuc James Cancelo Trippier Perisic
    Gundo Zaha Rodrigo Martinelli Dasilva
    Haaland Toney Jesus

    Any suggestions?
Will probably do Gundo + Zaha + Cuc -> Salah + TAA + Andreas

    Current Team

    G: Mendy
D: Trent, Trippier, James, Zinchenko, Cancelo
    M: Salah, Martinelli, Rodrigo.
    S: Jesus, Haaland

    Subs: Andreas, Neto. Greenwood, Ward

Frustrated with Trent and was thinking of swapping for Perisic however with Liverpool's run of fixtures thinking of giving him another chance and leaning towards this Swap: Mendy for Ederson or James for Perisic. Quite keen on the latter. Advice

Is TAA worth the money? Doesn't seem the same player this season.
And many managers would have seen how Man U were able to exploit him defensively.

I have just filled the form out.

Main issue with it - it takes too long. I had to stop and start it over about 3 broken sessions.

I have a full time job, wife and young family. I visit this website because it is good for 2-3minute reads. Then the comments section may fill the odd minute or so I have spare. I don’t usually have a dedicated 20-30 minute slot free. That is probably the case for many people on this site, so many others on here will do what I was tempted to do - give up half way through or rush through the final questions not answering properly.

I don’t think this will set a good base for a study of the average FPL player. Only those who have sufficient free time and also happy to contribute
