... 2

LIVERPOOL’S ATTACK

There were few real positives to take from Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in Gameweek 10. However, with Manchester City and Arsenal blanking in Gameweek 12, I’m not ruling out a short-term move for one of their attackers with captaincy in mind. That might sound crazy, but despite wider team issues, they have still scored five goals in their last two league fixtures against Arsenal and Brighton, two decent defences.

The decision on who to transfer in has been pretty straightforward in past seasons, yet Mohamed Salah’s (£12.7m) lack of form, paired with his premium price tag, raises question marks. I’m one of Mo’s biggest fans, but he does look less involved than ever at present, producing just one shot and one penalty box touch at the Emirates. With the game finally poised at 2-2, he was also substituted with 21 minutes to go.

His lack of form can be traced back to his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, but context is needed: Salah has still scored two goals and created four in eight league appearances this season. He is also on penalties, so if you do still own him, it might be best to hold a while longer, given that Gameweek 12 fixture at home to West Ham.

However, the most promising player I see at Liverpool right now is Darwin Nunez (£8.8m). Few players came away from the Emirates with credit, but he was one of those who stood out, making good runs in behind and firing three shots on goal. He has only started three Premier League games so far, but has two goals and is averaging a whopping 6.26 shots per 90 minutes. That average will probably come down the more minutes he plays, but it’s still sure to be among the highest across the Premier League.

“Good. It was good, it was good. Sharp, good, involved in nearly everything, scored a great goal” – Jurgen Klopp on Darwin Nunez’s display v Arsenal

Above: Darwin (right) has attempted 19 shots in 2022/23, just four behind Salah’s (left) total of 23, despite playing 431 fewer minutes.

Darwin is a club-record signing, and it is clear that Jurgen Klopp is banking on him to come good as his focal point in attack, which is why I’d put him slightly ahead of Diogo Jota (£8.9m) in FPL.

With Luis Diaz (£8.0m) out, Jota could again shift to the left, just as he did when the winger went off in the 41st minute on Sunday. Yet Klopp has already tried Fabio Carvalho (£5.4m) at left-wing, and with such a short turnaround between their Gameweek 11 and 12 fixtures (73 hours), it does feel a little risky.

    GW11 team (roll FT):
    Ward
    Cancelo, James, Cucurella, Trippier
    KDB, Maddi, Martinelli
    Haaland (c), Scamacca, Jesus

    Pope, Andreas, Neco, Longstaff

    GW12;
KDB & Jesus > Bowen & Kane (free)

    GW13;
    Longstaff > Foden... PLUS
    Cucu > 4.1M or Kane > Jesus (-4)

I'd be wanting rid of James even before injury scare and would prioritise him out over Cucu in 13 if fit.

Don't see the Kane Jesus hokey cokey as worth it. If you want Jesus just hold him - Kane is unlikely to damage you much in 12.

Nice to have Scamacca in - well done.

If I don't make a transfer this week (only have one), Bilva will be on my bench. I planned to transfer him for Trossard. I was thinking he would be good to have vs Brentford this week. If I made that transfer, I would want to play him and the only player I see I could possibly bench would be Toney. Would you make the transfer this week or wait until the following week and play Toney? I'm also pondering keeping Jesus and possibly playing 10 (Got Neco) in week 12, so I can have Jesus for 13 and have two transfers for that week.

I don't think there is any issue with having a decent player on your bench, injuries and rotation are starting to bite.

I also don't think there is a need to transfer out a decent player (because they will be on your bench) this week in preference to a non starting City or Arsenal player next week.

Don't over think it and just roll the free transfer

As always play your own game of course, but it would be so much fun to take a -4 each week for the next 3 game weeks 😉

It's actually a good time to lose a -4 because there will be lots of hits over the next few game weeks

Yes, well, I was leaning towards moving Bilva out for Trossard this week but ever so slightly. I have TAA injured and I see James was taken off with a knee injury, although he said the injury doesn't feel serious.

I certainly will be waiting until just before this weeks deadline with all the info at hand that I can find.

Fofana needs to go. Do I get a defender 4.6 or below? Or do I go KDB to Son (currently have 4 gw12 blanking players).

    0.2itb and 1FT

    Pope
    Cancelo Trippier James
    Martinelli KDB Zaha Maddison
    Haaland Mitro Wilson

    Iverson Andreas Mings Fofana.

Don't sell kdb and not for Son

I suppose you could just bring him straight back in a reverse move if you have the least amount of funds tied up in KDB though

Obviously you need to sell 1 or play with max 9 with fofana out.

Kdb and fofana out with kdb back in the week after the blank I guess

I want my money on the pitch not on my bench and not too fussed about losing .2 or .3 on Haaland as I could get a few price rises elsewhere on WC anyway.

I would bench Saliba, Martinelli & Cancelo for sure no matter what I do.

If you can't bench - options for me are Scamacca, Daka and Edouard. Scammaca the best probs but not by a distance. Palace and Leicester will score goals and those two are likely starters up to WC imo. Fantastic value.

Help please, I know it’s complicated but would appreciate some input, obviously highly depending on variables (if James / Mitrovic are injured, if Perisic starts midweek, etc.):

    Pope
    Cancelo Trippier Perisic
    KDB Martinelli Maddison Andreas
    Haaland Mitrovic Toney

Iversen Andreas Neco James (assume injured this GW)

    2FT, 2.0itb

What is the best option over the next 3 GW please:

    1.
    GW11 Bailey >> Rashford
GW12 KDB Toney >> Zaha Kane
GW13 Perisic (if James fit) Rashford >> Foden 4.5def (-4)

    2.
GW11 Perisic (or James if injured) Bailey >> 4.5def Zaha
    GW12 KDB Toney >> Bowen Kane (-4)
    GW13 Bowen >> Foden

Plan to keep Haaland, Martinelli, Cancelo on the bench in GW12.

1 FT in GW11 and 1 FT in GW12. 1 FT will be used with KDB next week.

Who should be priority for another FT?
    A: James (injury doubt)
    B: Martial (injury doubt)
    C: Neco (lose his place)

    Team for GW12
    Pope
    Trippier - Perisic (?) - James (?) - Neco (?)
Zaha - Maddison - Andreas - KDB (to be sold)
    Welbeck - Martial (?)
    Bench : Haaland, Cancelo, Martinelli

    Haaland Jesus Archer

2 FTs 0.1 ITB. Missed last week’s deadline (first FPL deadline missed urgh)

What should I do here? WC left still. Play now or wait for a couple more weeks? I bit lost…

You have 5 for GW 12 so that is a problem. I would probably downgrade TAA to maybe Dunk/Webster and upgrade Archer for this week. Then transfer out one of your 5 for GW 12. Play 10 that week or take a hit to get 11 out. then WC in 13.

Koulib seems to be the nailed one. Tsilva prone to rests.

        Other way round if anything

Believe Tilva missed out last time as he had a cold. Kouli was dropped versus Palace. Rationally no one is nailed there though given fixture congestion and Potter.

Maybe. Maybe not. Who knows the mind of Brog? You'd think if Ward was to be dropped it would have happened by now.

This must have been done already, but having captained Håland in 6/9 GWs so far for 164 points he's already provided me with:

More points than any player last season except Salah (453; Salah was similarly dominant early on, at least the upcoming blank will stop me captaining Håland 11 times in a row)

More points than all of my goalkeepers last season (155)

Would be on track to outscore all of my forwards last season (533) and would be close to all of my defenders combined (670)
