My Salah draft at the moment. Just ripped up the Kane one lol

It is a two GW punt as i will probably sell Salah afetr Bournemouth. For squad depth

    Johnstone/ Turner
    Estu Chilwell Gabriel 4.0 4.0
    Salah, Saka, Havertz Rashford Eze
Haaland Pedro. (Archer- up for sale, Sheff Utd interested)

I see arsenal scoring more against Forest but Wolves are poor too.

Havertz could become Trossard. They will only play Rice/Partney and not both. Nketiah is the only danger

Any opinions? Changes, I dont like Havertz but it is only for Wolves and Forest at home (Palace away).

Very close to my team. I like it. I have Pickford, Stones, Richarlison where you have Johnstone, Chilwell, Havertz.

My concern is the game time of Havertz and Trossard. If I knew one was gonna start regularly and get decent minutes I'd be all over them. Trossard is a better player, will score more goals if he plays, but just can't be sure.
Is the rumour that Archer will go Sheffield and start games then?

Yes, wont happen before GW1, but Ramsey has gone to Burnely as well, so i think Villa need to balance the books.

I hope Palace look at them for their prices £9m and £12m. But Ramsey Villa have a double buy back clause £24m)

Yeah, just 0.5m short of Martinelli

Yeah, i think so too, but i have a feeling Partey would play along side Rice away to Palace, so I just think Havertz is Arteta new toy, but Trossard is a bettter player??

I don't really understand why you would use Salah as a 2 week punt. He's very ill suited to that because he's so expensive and takes money away from the rest of your team.

If you go Salah, you should go in expecting to keep him until first WC.

.Because GW3 or 4 i upgrade Pedro, and a midfielder who i think is or will perform well GW3 onwards.

I will wait on Liverpool until my WC then. I pan GW9, but that never works out. It could be longer or shorter.

Just dont think Bruno/Watkins is going to score as big Salah/Pedro first 2 GW's

        Thanks for your input though.

I just dont feel i can keep Pedro long term without a bench (he will get minutes coming on or a started getting subbed)

Just think Palace are a better defence/spine in their team.

Both teams lack firepower, but Zaha only got 270 mins in the last 10 games. It is Olise Palace will miss the most.

(I support them too,but never normally pick our players, but EZe was so good (but with Olise).

Defensively under Ry as with Dyche, you are always going to be solid, but Palace last year had the 4th best expected goals against.

        Gvardiol Gabriel Estupiñán
        Rashford Saka Martinelli Maddison Eze
        Haaland Pedro
        Turner // Watkins Chilwell Kabore

"Raphael Varane has raised the very serious concern that this is another encumbrance of footballers who are already playing record amounts of games and getting the largest amounts of exposure time they have ever had."

Well, maybe get rid of the time wasting BS in the game and you will be playing the same amount of added time as you used to? No?

You would have thought so. They only stand around when the time wasting happens which is at throw ins and goalkicks mainly. OK, you can't switch of mentally.

Rugby is played when the game/ball is active for 80 mins, but have still clamped down on time wasting.

Rugby loses a lot of time with scrums killing the clock. I believe Football did trial the Rugby way of stopping the clock and reducing the 90 minutes runtime but it still went longer than what we saw at the world cup last winter with extended injury time added.

I know football is unique in that it doesnt have a stopped clock like every other sport, and it's awesome. But, maybe especially in the last decade (to me at least), it has become comical. just stop the obvious BS and I think we will all be fine. even Varne will survive.

I have never put my team up before but here goes. A very unusual "strong bench" which goes against my usual principles, but i think the value this year is the mid not the high (Wildcard GW 3 here we come!!).

    Pickford Turner
    Shaw, Estupinian, Stones, Chilwell, Gabriel
    Saka Rashford Mbuemo Diaby Eze
    Haaland Alvarez Pedro

    BB GW1

I am prepared to be slaughtered! Cheers

Yep it will be a nightmare, but i have never done this before (and my ranks are decreasing year by year) so worth a go, haha. I have considered upgrading to Trent, Bruno etc but i genuinely think the mid prices have better value. I will clearly upgrade 1 and downgrade 1 in GW3 but for the first 2 weeks i love this approach

True, but if i like the 11 in my team, then that is no problem and the bech provides a safety net/rotation (as i said this is not my normal approach but the prices this season make this work for me)

The whole point is saving money on keepers and those 2 rotate perfectly fixture wise and save points good for poor teams. I think was FPL Raptor top 10 rookie moves in FPL was rotating 4.5 or more keepers trying to predict CS

That is true but i have rotated 4.5s every year until this one and i think it works best. Not so much recently but there was a period about 8-10 years ago where the highest points scores were 4.5 (Hart, Foster etc)

1 - I hate 5 premium def teams. I don't think it's ever a good idea especially tying up a slot of attacking teams where you might want triple up.
2 - I think Mitoma best of 6.5m mids because Luton and Wolves are great fixtures for attackers. Mbuemo 4th of mids I was tossing up Eze or Diaby with Mitoma and landed Eze.
3 - Alvarez not guaranteed to start is he? Pep roulette no thanks

1 Yep i agree but when they all have attacking potential i have weighed this up against the mids and attack and reckon there is a reliable (if unspectacular) source of points
2 Had Mitoma for many drafts but 2 Brighton is enough, especially given the fixture turn in GW4
3 I dont expect Alvarez to start more than 1 in 2 but i think his output in that time will make up for that, but who knows with Pep
4 It will be fun. As a veteran of this lark i need something different!

That’s fine if you want to bench boost Gw1 but you’ll need funds moving forward. I would recommend Stones to 4.0 Gw2 and then slowly reduce money on your bench to upgrade attack week by week.

Pretty settled now but last call to see if there's any sway of opinion.

    A. Martinelli, Mbeumo, Jackson
    B. Salah, Chukwuemeka, Mubama/alternative 4.5 option (the 4.5s would be bench fodder)

    Onana, Turner
    Gabriel, Chilwell, Stones, Estu, Baldock
    ____, Saka, Rashford, Foden, ____
    Haaland, Joao Pedro, ____

Draft A has better depth and formation flexibility but benching headaches every week. Draft B is locked to 4-4-2, no bench, but has Salah

Very good but it's a crazy price. Chelsea pursuing him all summer after their spending last year has inevitably led Brighton to feel like they can demand such a high price

Currently on A, but with Buendia's injury I checked what Villa fans were saying and they reckon he could start in the 'Jacob Ramsey from last season' role. Got a goal and assist in preseason and took up some high average positions playing that position.

He played right pre season. Ramsey and Buendia left or sometimes 10. Tielemans or Bailey more likely to be starting 11 than JPB. He was great 2 pre seasons ago and gone out on loan lower leagues

I’ve literally gone through all of them and can’t see the complaint lol. For example, when he says City have more spending power than Liverpool, he’s absolutely right. No point denying it. It’s not a complaint, spoken more matter of factly.

City have more spending power yet Liverpool have outspent City this year, last and the year before. Interesting.
And it absolutely is complaining when he's saying they can't possibly compete with City / United / Chelsea spending in order to excuse results.

Let’s compare net spend shall we, as sell-to-buy shouldn’t really count as investment. Since arriving in England: Klopp: £244m. Guardiola: £661m. Interesting.

So when Klopp is asked about City / United / Chelsea’s transfers in light of his own, is he supposed to start talking about Nottingham Forest? He is being asked to compare and he is comparing. If he wanted to complain about a lack of funding, it would be targeted at Liverpool’s owners, not at other teams.

As I've shown he's also complaining about the spending in the seasons AFTER Liverpool won the PL so the point about spend since either manager arrived in England is neither here nor there.

Since they won the league in 2020, Liverpool have outspent City yet Klopp has continued to claim they cannot compete with City in the market, which is absolutely ridiculous and underlined by this latest £110 Caicedo transfer.
But I fear you're a blinkered fan who won't be persuaded no matter what evidence is presented contrary to your opinion, so goodnight.

What’s your point? Expenditure alone isn’t a good enough tool to compare the strength of the two teams. You must also consider funds which have accumulated from players sold, i.e. players that are sacrificed to get what a manager wants, in order to get a fair comparison. Doesn’t suit your argument though right?

And according to your sources, Klopp started “complaining” in 2017 (Klopp/Pep arrived in 2015/16) so I think we should very well be looking at spending from the time they arrived in England.

                        Farewell.

Bruno, Odegaard, both play Wolves and Forest at Home in 2 GW's. But i have got either.

Could swap Bruno to Jota GW2 Hocky cokey?

I have A sAlah and non Salah draft, but non contain Bruno atm, and i have Martinelli in both

        Cheers

I just don't trust Martinelli, tho he has the highest ceiling. Both him and Odegaard are often subbed off, while that is not the case with Bruno plus he has pens. Maybe that wins the duel here.

That is actually a good idea, that swap, thank you!
