    Early thoughts? 2FT, 0.2 ITB:

    Flekken - Turner
    Chilwell - Estupinan - Gabriel - Udogie - Kabore
    Rashford - Saka - Fernandes - Martinelli - Mbuemo
    Haaland - Watkins - Archer

Really interested in Isak over Watkins but do you fear him losing minutes to Wilson?

Fixtures turn so good for Newcastle attack.

    How nailed is Alvarez?

I know nobody knows and it would seem a bit silly to have him and Haaland up front when there are all the other strikers to chose from from different teams.

Your just relying on City to score 2 or 3 goals and for him to actually start

    1. Lord of Ings
      • 10 Years
      2 years, 5 months ago

Considering the quality of opposition in the next few, they’re more than likely to score 3+ most games.
And Alvarez has set pieces and looks quite involved in general.
He’s a quality player anyway, even if he doesn’t rack up the xG Wissa and Jackson do, he’s gonna finish most of his chances.

    2. Robwooly
      • 3 Years

I've had Alvarez since the start and it's been paying off allowing extra funds elsewhere. Watched him closely and it's a strange one as he doesn't look like hauling big but the big draw is he is playing advanced, playing for city, as is only 6.5m, throw in his clinical finishing and work rate you would think pep will rate him highly in kdb's absence, which I feel he does. Even if pep roulette bites which it no doubt will you can get potential points when subbed on as Haaland may make way.

The fact that it is damn difficult to decide which are best midfielders has broken the game this season. Should have had the choice to start with 7 midfielders and no forwards

      Correction, 8 midfielders

      I like it so much!
I think most players are too cheap, and I'm a bit down by the fact, that Team Value (at the very least at this point, but probably throughout the entire season) will play no important part in game.

However - to pick the correct 3-4 midfielders besides Saka and the 1-2 forwards next to Haaland is hard this year.

And perhaps some will be more 'template' picks than others, but I expect a pretty even field at the end so it all comes down to owning the right ones at the right time.

      Makes the game more fun.

I've burned the BB and WC already, but I actually got pretty many points out of doing so. I just have to make the right transfers for the many months to come 😉

yes- other than Haaland, no forward stacks up vs midfielders. Mbeumo,, Eze, Diaby, Foden, Mitoma, March, etc all reasonably priced and all capable of consistant scoring.

statistically (goals/assists per minute) his best position is left winger/inside forward which is still not very inspiring with only 1 goal/assist per 180 min. as a CF he only does something every 252 min, which is even less persuasive. this season his xG per 90 min is 0.1, last season (more sample size) it was 0.29... everything might change this season of course, but since son will definitely play at the left, i wouldn't expect anything from richarlison—i guess people picking him are falling into the same trap again every season, he's very talented and a useful asset for pressing/positional play yet just lacks quality in attack

Sterling was really good yesterday but is extremely frustrating. Does the hard things great and the easy things bad. I've had him in the past and it's a hard watch. Jackson looked quality but could do with better service. Neither on pens although Enzo's was awful. Can see both having in the odd game against weaker oppo

General consensus seems to be hold United attackers for NFO.

Haven't seen anyone mention the fact that Forest only conceded 0.84 and 0.55 xG in their first 2 games. Another cagey match at Old Trafford with few chances doesn't seem out of the question

Forest made Arsenal really work for it in the first week & Arsenal are a much better attacking side than United.

They won’t take the game to United either, counter attacking is Ten Hag’s tactic it seems, don’t see a lot of goals in that one.

TBH, Sheffield are toothless and while Arsenal is a better team, they've added a few new players, were missing a few noteworthy first XI players and also played in a new system. They also kinda let go once they got a 2 goal lead.

United on the other hand have looked abysmal and the pressure is on them. Their next match is away to Arsenal so they'll make sure to make a statement here as we would expect the same from Arsenal against Fulham.

Last season Toney missed 5 games, in those 5 Brentford scored 11 goals, 9 of them were scored by Mbeumo(5) and Wissa(4).

This stat was basically 30% of my comments over the summer to correct the "Brentord are Toney FC crew" but you've missed the boat now. Mbeumo isn't getting 16 pts every game and he now becomes locked firmly into the template.

It's all about who's next to jump on. I think Sterling.

No boat has been missed if they keep on scoring. Also, I am sure no-one is expecting 16 points a game but if he scores regularly for 6.6 or whatever he is then you won’t hear many complaints.

Looks like Man United are parting ways with Greenwood.

    From club’s release:

All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United. It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.

This is absolutely because of the pressure put my fans online and through protestations. Glazers would have been roasted had anything but this decision was made.

"Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for."

This part basically reads like "We still think he's innocent, but we'll bin him if you're going to be such babies about it" - proper bitter, they definitely wanted him to stay until the fan/employee backlash.

Good decision no doubt. Sad, he was one with real potential.

When it says they will help him find another club - are we going to accept a transfer fee for him or not? (I would hope not).

I think could be more of a “support” handout like not holding for a transfer fee or other soft perks that will help to easily offload him. Question is, which club will want to take a PR disaster on board!?

Well that's the other issue, really not sure where he could end up going.

If the club had a clue about PR (from recent activity, including the way this statement is written, it's clear that they DON'T) the best thing to do would be to sell him and donate the transfer fee to a domestic abuse charity. One of the ones that they labelled as "problematic" or whatever it was.
