WC team. Biggest pressing question: do I stick with Salah or drop him for one of Rashford or Bruno and upgrade elsewhere (although I can't quite figure out where now we've lost Kane and I don't really want TAA). Could do Semenyo to a real forward, I suppose, but that extends my benching headache this week even further (I want to play Gusto home to LUT, but no way to do so).

    Sanchez - Turner
    Chilwell - Saliba - Estu - Gusto - Beyer
    Salah - Saka - Foden - Diaz - Mbeumo
    Haaland - Alvarez - Semenyo

If I happens this season will be the 1st one ever when team value really don't matter.

Interesting in a way as without being forced to use the "template" budget picks we may actually see more diversity between our squads than in the previous seasons.

Palace have had two 0-0 and two 1-1 as Neale said.

Bith goals from Brentford were 88 mins and 96. Could be later this year 🙂

I dont see goals in this one, although Eze scored his only goal for Patrick, but i could be wrong there).

That was the day he probably lost his job.

I genuinely think Todd Boehly's understanding of football comes from playing fifa manager mode. This guy has turned Chelsea into the same way. Someone has assigned point ratings to his players and each transfer window he takes out 5-10 lowest rated guys and picks up a bench of youth players with 95 potential

I thought the same until I spent time analysing the squad and personally think hes did a brilliant job. He has a strong starting and second eleven, 2 strong players in each position, with only a handful of players on top of that which they will likely sell/loan out before the window closes. Bar Sterling every one of those players are 26 or younger. They could do with a goalkeeper and 2 Attacking Centre mids but apart from that they would be able to get through the next few windows without needing to sign players, and with market values going up every year the deals might not look too bad in a few years.

I'm kinda in the middle. It is a strategy, and I suspect he does have half a mind on breaking FFP rules, hence a squad that can survive 2 or 3 windows of transfer bans. I also suspect that he's willing to take a billion dollar hit on the squad because he feels he can make ten times that elsewhere - he has an American eye on commercialisation which mean screwing fans for profits and possibly being at the forefront of whatever the successor to the Super League will be.
It will work if the penalties are transfer bans and fines; it won't work if the PL or whoever impose points deductions or relegation for flagrant rule breaking.

      2. x.jim.x
        • 11 Years

The squad is a mix of injury prone senior players and unproven youngsters - he’s spent a billion quid in 3 windows and there’s not one world class player in there. Their striker and keeper are poor too.

    3. krzys
      • 12 Years

So many people missed the fact Boehly is not directly responsible for transfers anymore

There's definitely more of a strategy to this signings now than the first spending window (most of which was poor, bigger names, not data backed & in the middle of lots of internal transition).

Buying lots and lots of young talent. Some will fail but there will be one or two Brazilian wonder kids or so who will either sell for bucket loads or be integrated.

Our current XI and squad has far more sensible of a shape (and size!) than lady seasons, which was a mess. Some of our signings have weekend rivals too (see Liverpool...)

We have again got very unfortunate with injuries sustained at the start of this season. Yes we do lack senior leaders - but hopefully this season can out us in good stead for the future.

Have to start returning on the investment soon but more (substantially backed) method than madness. Even the method such as long contracts to get over the PL/UEFA loophole Whislst we're out of Europe was a clever accounting/legal contract move.

CLuting at straws, although we desperately need a no. 9 but most of our wages offered to Zaha with be going on Olise and (probably) eze new contract. They are both very close, so unless Man City really push for Eze, i can't see this happeneing

Well what stinks is the PIF can invest upto 5% of Clearlake assests as i understand.

      PIF own Newcastle.

PIF have access to Chelsea accounts, thus can buy lots of Chelsea players (Lewis Hall, (as Clearlake own 60% of Chelsea) as it is in their interest for Chelsea to comply with FFP.

If this isnt a confict of interest to the premier league I dont know what is.

All clubs do this. Harris at Palace own 17% of Palace shares, and owns Appollo (an investment fund), but has no interest in other Premier league clubs and was going to be force to sell his share, when he wanted to take over Chelsea in a competitive bid.

Textor and another owns 40% of Shares, and Eagle Holdings owns Lyon, Moolenbeak, and Bazilian club Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas. In separate leagues just like Chelsea loan players to Strasbourg. That all fine (I dont personally like it), but thats how football is these days.

I don't like it in the PL, and this is certainly Saudi Arabia's plan, that if/when a Super League starts, they will be part of it.

Today the US hedge fund sorts who were due to buy 25% of Morsi's stake pulled out. They were due to fund the completion of the new stadium as well as inject capital to keep the club afloat. Aye, they're in a crisis.

Thoughts on gvardiol as a city option. Considering it but there is always the doubt around minutes with City players

Well at least he's versatile and can play across the back four. Really good with both of his feet too...

I'm trying to decide whether to go with him or spend the extra on Dias. I think both will start 8 out of 10.

is FPL more luck or more skill game?

i always feel that it's a game of luck
if you make the right 50/50 call, then you will excel

but there are a lot of managers that make it to the top 10k season after season
with this proven track record, it has to be more skill than luck involve right?

    Good to go?

    Onana
    Saliba, Estu, Gusto
    Martinelli, Salah, Rashford, Eze
    Haaland, Watkins, Pedro

    Bench: Turner, Tarkowski, Botman, Nakamba

Tempted to sell Martinelli for Foden?
And then maybe get an Arsenal mid back next week for Rashford?

      I'd keep Martinelli this week

        Would love Mbeumbo or Wissa.

But that's where I am torn... Are those or Foden priority?

And who is my priority transfer out .. I'd like to remove Eze but he has less value

Hey folks, best moves here with 2Ft and 1m itb

    Pickford
Chilwell Estu Saliba -- James Kabore
    Rash Bruno Saka Martenelli Maddison
    Haaland Pedro -- Archer

    A) Maddison + Pedro >> Mbeumo + Jackson...then
    --- Saka >> Foden in gw4
    --- Saliba >> Trippier in gw5
--- means starting Saliba (MUN) or Kabore (WHM) in gw4

    B) James + Maddison + Pedro >> Udogie + Foden + Jackson (-4)....then
    --- Martenelli >> Mbeumo in gw4
    --- Saliba >> Trip in gw5
--- means starting Udogie in gw4

Both lead to the same destination in gw5 but the journey is diff. B involves a hit but means getting foden this week, having a better def in gw4, and means i get rid of Martinelli as opposed to Saka
