Pick one to sell and one to buy:

    Sell - Saka / Rashford / Salah

    Buy - Maddison / Sterling

I would not sell either... But if you are really determined, then Salah for Maddison.

Tempted by Alvarez but Pedro > Jackson the best bet with Chelsea's upcoming fixture run?

    Johnstone

    Chilwell - Gvardiol - Estupinan

    Bruno - Rashford - Saka - Martinelli - Mbeumo

    Haaland - J.Pedro

Subs: Turner - Archer - Baldock - Shaw

Why are people so confident that Bowen will explode against Luton?

His biggest strength is pace and West Ham's biggest strength are counter attacks. Not gonna get many of those against Luton, who do not even want to attack.

Solid point. I think people automatically think; Good player vs weak opposition = points but very difficult for a counter attacking team when there's no space against a low block.

Yeah, I think playing styles and match ups come into consideration as much as simply good team against poor team.

For example, Newcastle's sweet spot is against teams who try and play out from the back, but aren't very good at it. They struggled to break down teams who sat deep and played longer balls.

Luton did seem to come out and try and play at bit more second half against Chelsea and were caught on the break a few times. It could all depend on who gets the first goal. If West Ham score early then they could run out easy winners.

Luton first home game of the season. Intimidating atmosphere, tight compact ground.

Luton will want to put on a display for their home fans and the atmosphere is going to be pretty special. Plus West Ham will be on a short week of rest.

I don’t think this is going to be the walk in the park for West Ham that most people think it’s going to be.

Don't Luton play in the cup midweek, while West Ham have a rest?

          You may be right.

My point still is that this is going to be Luton’s first home game and the crowd is going to be pumped.

Don’t underestimate what effect that can have on Luton.

JWP could well be the better threat. I'm not sure how good Luton are at defending set pieces, but I expect Wham to have opportunities from them - and if Luton sit deep his delivery from open play is good too.

What’s everyone’s view on Arsenal? Worth having 3 players? Defense looks very fragile this season and did as well in last 10 games of last year.

Sold Gabriel the other week. If I had Saliba, I'd probably hold. Martinelli is on the chopping block for me this week. Saka may be enough for me going forward given other options. Feel like they are still adapting to new players and how Arteta wants them to play this season.

The Arteta experimentation in defence is not going down well. They are all over the show at the back. Too much competition in their attack as well. I only have Saka and in my opinion the only Arsenal asset worth having. Might even get rid in a couple of game weeks from now.

I did Gab > Saliba this week and already slightly regretting not being more adventurous with my replacement choice, but he’s probably a decent enough hold. Ode I’ll switch out this week for Maddison and Saka is still a keeper in my view

        I have Saliba and Saka.

In all honesty I too am not convinced by this Arsenal defence.

An Arsenal mid is definitely necessary as they will score goals but one is probably all you really need.

Defenders are really much of a muchness, but at least Saliba, unlike Gabriel, is nailed and they will get CS’s, so he’s not a major issue.

I have Saka, Mart and Gab. Not been great picks so far - Sakas done ok and I'd keep him. I should move on Gab, but Marti to Maddison feels more exciting. Might save this week, though.

Started with Gabriel, Saka & Martinelli. Sold Gabriel for Henry this week & have no intention of going back to Arsenal defenders at the moment. Reasonably content to keep Saka although I feel the Eddie-effect has been stifling his & (even more so) Martinelli's FPL potential. Considering sticking with Martinelli as I think Jesus' return will be a big boost for him, but I might sell him this week if deadending ahead of WC5 (not sure Jesus starts til after IB maybe?). Still a bit concerned by Havertz & the constantly changing LBs affecting where/when Martinelli receives the ball though

have Saliba & Saka, happy to hold both for now, Saka can score against anyone and Saliba is getting benched this week, but i'd also have no issue selling Saliba if i need funds for example, he's not that essential to keep or to sell

      Flekken / Areola
      Estupinan / Gusto / Chilwell / Cash / Trippier

They have looked good, but there are sometimes intangibles that we forget about that affect games.

Yesterday was a good example of that.

Let’s be honest, most people thought Sheffield United v City was going to be a hammering for the Blades. As it turned out City were fortunate to come away with the win and Sheffield played really well.

West Ham have looked brilliant so far this season, but they are West Ham not prime Barcelona and likely to eff it up just as quickly next game.

Luton might be well up for it on Friday, the crowd behind them, West Ham may be complacent.

None, some or all of these things could happen. But I wouldn’t underestimate Luton for all the reason just given.

Appreciate the sentiment RE City. But they did clock up 3.6 v 0.6 xG. So probably should actually have been a much more comfortable win statistically. Could argue they were really unlucky it was that close.

Considering Liverpool defence has taken a big hit with VVD banned and a cb pairing of Matip and Gomez likely, what do we think to this:

      Pickford
      Chilwell Estupinan Saliba
      Salah Saka Foden Mbuemo DIABY
      Haaland Pedro

      Turner Baldock Kabore Mubama

      2.1 itb

      Eze -> Diaby for free

Considering taking my first hit this season for Pedro/Kabore out for Antonio/Alvarez or Udogie/Cash/Gusto

      Hi guys, hope you’re well

Cash saved my weekend, which was going very badly before he scored twice! What would you do with this team?

The two main fires to put out look like Gabriel and, to a lesser extent, Pickford because he has Sheffield United. But I do like the potential upside of selling Mitoma and going for a midfielder with better fixtures.

So I think my question is, what should my priority be?
      A) Sell Gabriel (Gusto or a City defender in)
      B) Sell Pickford (Ederson?)
      C) Bring in Maddison or Sterling for Mitoma
      D) Combination of the above for -4

      1FT 3.8ITB
      Pickford
      Chilwell Estupinan Baldock
      Rashford Saka Foden Mbeumo Mitoma
      Haaland Jackson

      Turner Cash Osula Gabriel

      Thanks !

He is an option but I would wait until gw5 or 6. Also consider Gordon though he has more competition in Barnes

He did look very good yesterday, I am tempted to get him in after the international break.

RP - For the Newcastle Liverpool game, does anyone have a breakdown on who took the set pieces and the number for each player for Newcastle? It seemed like Tonali has taken some away from Trippier

Surely the psychological influence must be taken into account when looking at players. West Ham sitting 2nd in league which must be giving each player so much extra confidence for games ahead.

Guys can you see Martinelli getting a return vs UTD?
I think Wan Bissaka can contain him…

That game should have goals but there are a lot of better cheaper options out there than Martinelli at the moment.

Yes I agree about goals but my question is coz I own Martinelli, he has looked good but frustrated. So I am thinking of getting rid for a -4 to a player in form with an easier fixture…
