    My defenders are doing well,

    Akanji 2 Chilwell 1 Pervis 2

Any Forest defender smashing the lot of them?

    My midfield is still:

    Salah - Saka - Rashford - Eze

Think I might have forgotten to deal with them - so many better options available - instead I've been busy doing Bell > Chilwell, Chucky > Sarr, Baldock > Gusto

    What a mess 🙂

      Just watched it.

That's very disappointing if it's true about FPL Harry. I don't follow many, but thought he was one of the good ones.

FPL Mate however I completely understand. He seems like an unbareable character - 'tool' is an accurate description. Also outrageously lippy after having 1 good year in an otherwise very average rank history.

Focused on xGI and fixtures, so I'll stick with my WC picks of...

Cash, Udogie, Chilwell +/- Disasi, Henry

Estupinan for GW10+, but not now. Considering Schar for Disasi, but that can wait for Botman's return

      NFO of course 😉

I think you have to stick with attack minded defenders and play the fixtures. Spurs look good for 5&8, Utd in 6&7, City 6&7, Arsenal 5&7. We all have plenty of Cash, just getting 5 decent defenders that can rotate

      1. Ze_Austin
        • 7 Years
        2 years, 3 months ago

Yeah. This is one of the biggest reasons for my WC: switched from a nailed backline to two save-point GKs and five rotating attacking defenders

          • 4 Years

Pretty much the same here. Had Baldock & Beyer plus 2 GKs on limited time (Johnstone & Turner). Going for save pts with Flekken & Leno, plus what I see as the 5 best attacking options in defence to rotate by fixtures - Estupinan, Chilwell, Porro, Trippier, Digne

I’ve gone for 5 rotatable options, no 4m fodder & just play the best ones week to week.

Saliba, Udogie, Estupinian, Chilwell & Henry.

I’m only going to make a defensive transfer if I have 2 & have to burn 1, the CS are too hard to predict, everyone piled in on City a couple of weeks ago & they’ve since conceded in both games.

I'd just pick the most attacking ones that are cheap.

Used my wildcard and now have 5 rotatable attacking defenders - Chilwell, Estupinan, Udogie, Cash & Anderson. Should give me great coverage for many gameweeks. I'd only be tempted to transfer if James returns fit and firing. City coverage via Ederson.

      1. Andy_Social

That's what I've been doing and will continue the strategy on my wildcard. Despite the dearth of cleanies in the first few GWs, I'm not falling into the trap of dud 4m defenders.
I'm unsure about retaining Chilwell, but I'm keeping Saliba and the rest are good 4.5s

I see the temptation, but it feels like such a lottery right now that you could chop and change between all the good midfield options and keep dodging the rewards. I'm hopeful that Foden will be as solid a source of points in the mid-long term as Maddison. Yes, he's rotation prone, but Maddison is injury prone. Bit of a coin toss imo.

Gonna be good weeks and terrible weeks with no Haaland as is happening this GW. Not gonna win FPL and not gonna enjoy a Haaland haul anyway so I will stick without him and not allowing myself to take any hits. Quite like trying a different (c) every week and going for fun picks instead of stressing about the game.

There’s so much variety this year that you can make the game exciting if you stay off YouTube & avoid getting drawn into the template they create between them.

Last week most went Jackson, I went Álvarez, this week was exciting, obviously don’t have to dodge good picks for the sake of it but there’s a lot of good picks this season.

      (1) tough group in the champions league
      (2) makes them more vulnerable at the back (they need to play their best back four in the CL) which (a) will affect them in the league physically or (b) rotated in the league because easier fixtures)
      (3) from the scenario's in 2 they will either get weakened by not having fresh enough legs or by playing weaker players which will affect them in attack
      (4) midfielders and the two strikers will get reduced minutes and they are reliant on the team which are built around aggressiveness and high octane press play with tight organisation between the two blocks.
      (5) Howe is not a tactician, and doesn't have the tools when the team lessens their energy level.
      (6) signs were there vs Liverpool, and while maybe unfortunate with the last two goals vs Brighton, the defensive set up in those two goals were exactly what a team that's not functioning well will suffer from).

I might be horribly wrong but that's my account for how(e) the state are atm.

Two weeks to ponder Estupinian V United or Mbuemo V Newcastle, really don’t want to make any transfers & have a ton of money in the bank, what do you think?

Estu or Mbuemo? Leaning towards Estu right now.

Lesser owned doesn’t mean worse either, this week for example, Son, Álvarez & Ferguson are lesser owned than Maddison, Jackson or Wissa.

Lots of good options if you can break free from having the influencers decide your picks for you.

I've made up nearly 20 points this week in most of my MLs so there's still a lot of room to make gains.

Two or three low owned players like Alvarez, Son etc can rocket you up the ranks.

Didn't see much of Gusto because I only caught the last 30 minutes on the replay, but I saw at least one Jackson G Sterling A that just somehow didn't happen after Sterling did well to create it

Gusto's main issue will remain James's return though, and that looks like GW5

      Two options for me:

      1. Keep Saka and watch what Ange does until a GW8 switch to Son, because I know what to expect from Saka and his next three fixtures are better

      2. Jump on Son now because he's one of the most explosive and clinical players in this game, as the hat trick should be enough to convince Ange that he belongs up top

I don't know which way Captain Hindsight will eventually sway on this one, but it's definitely a head-scratcher for me right now

5 points per game (although chances not converted) is that too much for a 12.5 midfielder
with lots of choice in midfield.

Liverpool rejected 150 million for a player in last year of contract last week will they accept
an offer of 200 million with the saudi window still a week to run or let him go for free next summer?

Why would they let him for free next summer? He will still have a year left on his contract. I'd say Pool will turn them down even at 200m and sell him next summer for close to that.

Was there any indication last week that Son was going to start as no.9?

I'd stopped following that Spurs Twitter itk over summer. If he's playing there in an attacking Spurs set up it would be foolish to hold off.

Currently on Salah Saka Sterling Mbeumo Diaby with cash itb.

Only that Richarlison was taken off early v Bournemouth and Son went there. I'm not fully convinced Son will definitely be playing there again though, he should be first choice really for it but I don't know if Postecoglu will just drop Richarlison fully yet

He definitely could and probably should but I may just hold off a week or two to see. Johnson is regarded as a forward too so it's possible he was brought in with that in mind (as well as a right winger)

Those who watch Johnson tend to say he's a winger and not a centre forward. That Awoniyi was needed to add that last season for Forest.

          Yep.

I was never convinced on Richarlison but speculated a few weeks ago about Son in that role.

          It seems a strong move.

Sheffield United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Luton to come is tasty enough.

I need more home players next time out too.

You'd think a hattrick would convince any attack minded striker that it's working.

It should really, but it's hard to judge an entire system and set of players from just 90 mins, not to mention how poor Burnley have been defensively. Villa last week should have been 5 or 6-1 as well

true but sometimes you've just got to move.

Sheffield United at home next too.

Nothing explicit, just clearly wasn't happening for Rich. But then I'm not really the person to ask if it was something on twitter

There doesn't seem to have been any Son formation mention.

However, does Brennan Johnson make Son down the middle more likely? Albeit he's a right winger to rival Kulu.

That's what I mean by not bringing in a #9. BJ plays in Kulu's spot, and they got Solomon for the other wing, so for me, 2+2= Son up top.

Yeah I expect Johnson to mainly feature on the RW. Solomon deserves a shot on the left

Partey out injured, possibly until GW7, is a blow to the ARS. See how they do today without him.

Honestly I thought he ended last season pretty poorly, saw a fair few mistakes from him. This inverted RB business isn't exactly working either so could be a blessing if it brings Gabriel in from the cold

Gabriel CB and White fullback the only thing that will make me change my mind about Arsenal. If Arteta continues with his bafoonery I might get rid of Saka and go without Arsenal.

It might actually help, the inverted RB thing wasn’t that great & maybe Arteta goes back to the back 4 that worked last season.

Rice has been great so far, don’t think the loss will be anywhere near as bad as it would have been last season.

Yes, for me, it helps Arsenal. The inverted winger plan was always for Zinky - trying it on the other side with Partey was not intended and hasn't worked. Now I expect to see a Back line of Zink/Saliba/Gabriel and White. Cue an utterly boring tsunami of posts cursing Arteta because Gabriels owners sold or benched him - entirely their own fault.
