How does this look for a WC team?

    Areola, Turner
    Chilwell, Cash, Estu, Udogie, Kabore
    Salah, Saka, Maddison, Sterling, Mbuemo
    Haaland, Alvarez, Archer

    0.3 ITB

    Thoughts welcomed, thanks

Your keeps are struggling in GW6, maybe get Leno over Areola? Kabore was benched last week wasn't he? Sterling are Chelsea are shocking, many many mids id rather have than him.

Pretty good. I know they haven't impressed yet but Newcastle's fixtures improve drastically so I'd want to keep flexibility to get to some of their players.

      - Turner may lose his spot
      - Any alternative to Kabore?
      - There is Son v Sheff Utd size hole in that midfield

      Otherwise 9/10 🙂

It looks like my team so yay from me!

I would definitely find a spot for Son on WC though.

Thanks all. I do want Son but the only way I see to getting him is downgrading Salah and I fancy him to do really well.

I'm considering Sterling to Diaby which would allow for an upgrade on Turner or Kabore..

    Morning

Anyone considering Hojlund? Could be a great differential to get in early with that run of fixtures. Could be in addition to Rashford/Bruno.

He’s been called up for Denmark, so we can monitor his minutes with them.

Could be a gamble worth taking.

      Wait and see for me.

Have Haaland and Alvarez up top and Archer on bench. No need for me to change my front three as yet.

Only on a 343 with Haaland and Alvarez ... but then who loses out in midfield ?

Think the mids outscore Hojlund unless proven otherwise

He's a very convenient price to bring in as a second striker as soon as he shows something in the PL.

Unless we plan to have Salah, it seems a good move to have 8 playing forwards and keep the weakest on the bench. We can then be 343 or352 when it suits. There are enough funds around to do this. I will probably have Mbuemo on my bench this week. If he scores bid then so be it. I decided my other 7 seemed to be stronger than him.

yeah he's a great pick but it's sheff united at the end of the day, I'd have 4mill in the bank with him so might as well boost him to a Ferguson/Darwin/Isak/Hojlund and just play them in the good fixtures...can't see me ever needing the cash to get salah in now - I've made peace with it!

I agree in principle and have Edouard on my bench, would like Archer instead of even Wissa. I have Alvarez whom I was happy to be rotated by Pep ... but £7 mill for anyone is a bit too much to bench for me, especially an unproven young Man U striker with no PL experience

The last player I would get is Hojlund. This season different due to fewer premiums, so just put the weakest on the bench. No clean sheets around atm so defenders less reliable.

Worth noting though that his club scoring record isn't really that good. 9 goals in 32 games last year for Atalanta doesn't scream prolific. Not saying he won't be good but I'll probably need to see at least 2 or 3 games of him starting and doing well before I take the plunge.

Darwin for instance was far more prolific before his move.

It's over £100m for a defensive midfielder with 1 year left, it's the definition of an overpay regardless of how good the player is.

£72m. Why not scout someone for a quarter of that? City signed Alvarez for around 14

Your point was "Why don't United identify players like City" and I just gave you a widely-known example of one. Haaland, Nkunku, Gvardiol, Diaz and Vlahovic are also players that Rangnick recommended and the club wasn't interested.

City are arguably the best-ran club in football because it's in their owner's interests to perform well. They've spent a fortune OFF the pitch to ensure they have the best training facilities, coaches, recruitment, etc. We're managed by bankers, there's no comparison whatsoever.

"You spent a billion but still hate the owners" - just the same ignorant drivel from people whose brains are incapable of thinking beyond "but money = win"

Ok, wasn't expecting this response for posting a stat...

Btw Hojlund is a press monster, and has inhuman physical attributes. His ceiling is much higher than Alvarez's. Let's give the kid a chance before posting criticism.

To be fair, basically everyone at City was surprised at Alvarez was as good as he was when he arrived and that he settled so quickly. They didn't expect it and I think (?) had planned to just have him as a bit-part squad player initially but that changed because of how good he looked in training and in preseason last year

              (The Athletic in December)
"City’s South American operation urged their Manchester counterparts to take a close look at him before the deal was struck, and it was agreed that he would be a contender for the first team. In the months since his signing, Guardiola is said to have been more and more excited by Alvarez’s abilities, and he impressed in his first days of pre-season, with coaches impressed by his hold-up play, believing that his upbringing in the often-physical Primera Division back home must have helped."

That’s fair, it’s a stroke of luck for them. My point was, it’s not normal to spend £72m on a player with mostly sub appearances. But a lot of Man United fans wanted him signed. Like they did with Maguire, Antony, Sancho who looked decent for a season or so before joining but again, just ridiculous overpaying.

The Glazers are not perfect but they give Man Utd fans what they want in terms of signings. Those signings flop (because they’re not worth the prices paid) and then they get blame.

Some of the stuff from their fans on social media, saying things like “they didn’t give Ten Hag what he wants”.

Klopp’s net spend is lower. Imagine if Klopp had been there all these years, with their budget, rather than having to work with FSG. They’d have won loads

I completely agree that anyone saying ETH didn't get backed (including some here) have lost their minds. The board didn't look at Antony and think "hmm, 22yo winger who has only played in Eredivisie and Brazil, let's spend €95m on him". They've also bought Onana, Martinez, Varane, Casemiro and Mount in the last year so no excuses on not adding to defensive / midfield options. I understand he has a system and you need players to match a system and it takes time, but it's a vast amount of expenditure on an already expensive squad and some of the additions (Casemiro, Mount) don't seem to fit these system requirements while others (Antony, Martinez) haven't exactly done what was hoped from them.

I'm considering double up with rash or bruno, fixtures good, he will play 60/70 mins at least per week now, old weggy had so many tap in chances last season and couldn't do it...also see assist potential with holding the ball and rash running on to goal. He's big, strong and fast...there's no way he won't be amongst the action once he gets going.

Yes, it's certainly possible that he's tired (could we classify that as unfit?).
Maybe clearer to say - if he's in match shape, then I think he starts.

Some reports coming out that Joao Felix reject a move to LFC on deadline day. Could be that LFC were actually trying to bring somebody in if Salah decided to go.

Apparently the latest bid from the Saudi's has been reject and Mo is not going anywhere which in all fairness is good for Liverpool.

Still two days left of the Saudi window being open though.

Not sure Liverpool need Salah any more, or as much as they used to rely on him ... lots of options now and some serious quality being benched each week and not much of a route for a youngster getting some game time

Not a single Liverpool player in the scout picks bus team.

I'm going to apply to be the community champion this week for sure if that's the case. Double up with Darwin and Salah.

The Scout Picks process must have changed - it's been spectacularly poor at the start of this season.

I have been rolling with Salah and Diaz and most likely will stick. Gapko and Jota going to make going with Darwin too risky.

I have Darwin on a WC...the Salah link up is starting to look good, hopefully he gets the minutes now

I'm really considering Darwin over Alvarez on my WC too.. his last couple of performances are going to make him hard to bench and he looks like he'll get chances galore

exactly, I'd rather have some liverpool coverage if their attack is starting to click...both minutes risks but darwin seems to have a solid gold chance every week regardless. I may be wrong but I just feel liverpool have a higher goals ceiling at the moment, even more than city...they seem out for revenge, city seem more about control and the perfect performance.

Feel like Salah out actually slightly dampens Darwin’s appeal. A lot of his chances are a direct result of his connection with salah

2nd bottom for open play xGA, I know they've played some nice stuff at times but they're conceding way too many chances. It's a strange one, maybe the 12.30PM KO curse on the scout picks minds?

Worth doing Gvardiol, Mitoma > Udogie, Maddison -4?

Made a mistake joining the Pep roulette with Gvardiol.

Solid moves but not sure I'd take a hit for them. If you can do the second for free then do it, if not then maybe just do the first.

        0.1 OFF Mitoma > Maddiosn.
My original thought was Gvardiol > Udogie.

Next match for Spurs is Arsenal, so don't expect much there for Spurs assets.

I miss something, probably. Still think Gvardiol will play 80+% of MC matches and get loads of clean sheets.

With Brazil kicking off at 3 am on Wednesday next week in Peru, does that put some doubt into the playing time of their squad?

It could strengthen the case for Son with Richarlison there.

Ederson/Alison might be fine. But what about Martenelli, Jesus, Cunha, Casemiro, Gabriel, the Newcastle two etc?

Diaz has a similar kick off time in Chile and Liverpool play the early game at Wolves on Saturday Sept. 16th.

I guess they could land back late Thursday night with the time difference etc but a tough world cup qualifying game and a 10,000km flight isn't ideal prep. I guess most will be benched.

Can't see Diaz being benched, Klopp has given given him his rests by subbing him early. Who will De Zerbi start instead of Estupinan Vs UTD, a massive game?

Same with the WHU fixture for City which is away. This is not going to be a walk in the park for City so Pep will start his favourites.

of course Diaz can be benched returning from international duty. His early rest means nothing if he plays for Columbia.

if they are jet lagged you'd use your squad.

... But they could land back Thursday morning so might be okay to play a couple of days later?

Diaz will not be benched but if he is then I will be willing to admit that I was wrong. Diaz will start GW5.

Saka and Ahamada → Son and Johnson are the moves I eyeing. Double LFC and Spurs Attack with Bowen as 5th mid.

Not going to be anyone's cup of tea and having 4 in the Spurs vs LFC fixture not ideal but can see loads of goals in that match though, gives me quite a differential midfield.

Your choices. stick with what you want not what you are told. There are pros and cons for most players. This time of year I look at fixtures, home/away, who they play for and position they play. I am a bit surprised at Johnson I must admit.

Johnson is like 0.5% owned and reckon he is going to do well for them. @5.9m I have nothing to lose.

I am also thinking of doubling up on Cash and Digne for their amazing fixtures. Extremely risky but I want to go out all attack. Clean sheets not going to make you climb the ranks when there hardly are any to fall back on.

I would not want to own any defenders for TOT vs LFC.

Least I can bench Vicario for Turner. Hopefully he keeps his spot for now.

Maybe already done but it would be nice to see the main FPL players whereabouts during the international break. I know Son plays in Ireland for instance on Thursday but the last games are key and when they finish and where they are coming from. I don't need a 10 page list of every player, just the main protagonists.

Son plays in Cardiff and Newcastle and with Richarlison playing his last game in Peru, if he features but travelling nonetheless that definitely strengthens his case this time for the Sheffield United game.

All the South American teams have 6 would cup qualifying games with 2 coming up so it's a factor for those guys.

SofaScore shows you squads and fixtures for international games.

Which GK for WC and why?

    Sanchez (Chelsea) or Leno (Fulham)

Sanchez more clean sheets, Leno more saves… I prefer Sanchez, but lot of people talking about Leno as a right choice..

    Thanks.

I think it is so undecided regarding keepers. With the cash around we could work on a "dreaded" keeper 4.5 rotation. Flecken for me but clean sheets are not common atm and early to decide.

Areola is second choice. So I am thinking about:

      A: Sanchez + Areola
      B: Leno + Areola

I think Leno as he has slightly better fixtures over the next 10 gameweeks. Also, if you're planning on having a Chelsea defender on WC, I'd want to avoid the double up with Sanchez.

Is Saliba really a shout for Everton?

Arsenal usually do quite poorly at Goodison and their defence hasn't been amazing. Everton have Beto up top now and McNeil / Harrison back so poor xG conversion stats from Fulham / Wolves games not as relevant.

I got a question for you lads
Would you sell Rashford now that he's playing his lw role and from the looks of things he's more productive fplwise for Son who just took up the mantle of striker and looks explosive there

Any advice on this, I have two FTs.

    1: Drop Gabriel/Mitoma, add Cash/Diabi
2: Drop just Gabriel, keep extra FT
    3: Something else?

    Areola (Onana)
    Estupinan, Chilwell, Ruben (Gabriel, Beyer)
    Maddison, Saka, Mbueno, Rash (Mitoma)
    Watkins, Wissa, Haaland
