Any pics of Saka in training or update on his injury?

Not yet but I'm happy to start him this GW and let my bench do its thing if he is out. Can't imagine Arteta will give too much away in his presser.

Some verified ( which means nothing) Arsenal account on Twitter said there was zero chance he plays this gw as they don't want to risk aggrevating it

On wc, I caught Porro's price rise last night. However is he worth having over Udogie?

Any words of wisdom on these two options? If first, Diaz or Bowen?

    How's my WC? Too template?

    Leno, Areola
    Digne, Andersen, Trippier, Tarkowski, 4.5tbc
    Salah, Son, Neto, Bowen, Diaby
    Haaland, Alvarez, Archer

    1. FOO FIGHTER

Leno to Turner and then Archer to Foster.

That will give you a great bench.

Got Leno at 4.5 so don't think it's worth that downgrade.

    Thoughts on this WC draft?

    Areola
    Porro Cash Burn
    Salah Son Maddison Bowen
    Haaland Alvarez Watkins

    (Turner Taylor Lamptey Chuku)
    0.1m ITB

Is Lamptey going to start in Estu’s absence?

I mean Taylor & Lamptey/Kabore are good for 1-2 points. Wouldn’t expect anything more from my bench players and wouldn’t spend 1m more just to cover a surprise injury after deadline.

Starting XI is great but personally I wouldn't be comfortable with that bench. Already been burned this season with injuries etc. I've sacrificed Alvarez for a Palace defender + Neto.

Fair enough. I was late to the party and brought him in for Watkins 2 weeks ago. Nothing but regret since. I'd be happy to keep him but I prefer Bowen over the next run of fixtures. I can't afford both

It's the same as mine with the only difference that I can afford Taylor > Guehi which makes my bench a lot more dependable.

I'm not sure I'd go this route if I had to rely on Taylor and Lamptey as subs. Would probably take someone cheaper than Bowen.

      1. Karan_G14
        • 9 Years

Yeah I get that the bench is weak but the options priced below Bowen are just not good enough right now. Maybe Mbeumo or Mitoma but the form & fixtures aren’t in their favour atm.

    5. Arteta

The bench is diabolical and undependable. We "figure out" every season that we need a stronger squad to deal with the non-shows in the long run.

Yeah I guess it’s just missing out on a 4.5m def tbh. I could afford Nakamba over Chuku for a 2 pointer every week but there isn’t many options unless you spend 5.5m on your mid.

Ask yourself this question. Who am I missing out on if I own Haaland? Chances are it's either Trippier or Watkins. You can easily have a balanced team with Haaland Watkins Salah Son and Maddison. So then it really does become who you rather own Haaland or Trippier? And the answer should be very easy. Trippier has good replacements like Cash, Porro etc and Haaland obviously not so much. Then add to the fact that bringing Haaland back in is incredibly difficult. This is why I don't actually see much upside going without Haaland whereas I see a big downside going without him

            Cash Udogie Burn 4.5 4.0
            Salah Son Maddison Bowen Diaby
            Haaland Watkins

Tbf Haaland relies upon scoring so that logic applies even for him. I do see the point in keeping Haaland as you dont lose more than maybe one significant player, but it's more than that to this game. For me it's trying to exploit a certain teams fixtures run in full and I can't do that with Haaland, and while Haaland probably will do fine over the next six I think there's upside in going a bit different. I also see those teams scraping in all bar Tripper is also having a bench on bare bones, with injuries and suspensions more frequent this year good options from bench is worth more. (Charlie Taylor won't see you when injuries crops up)For me it's not difficult to get him in again, it requires one GW save transfer and a mini wc.
But I know Haaland can ruin the season for me in on GW.

Without your fifth defender is Burn with 1m left itb. With that team, Udogie is two yellow away from suspension, Cash is injure prone, the 4.0 won't help you if you suddenly are short of defenders. You dont want to play Archer more than in say five games all season so you're stuck at once Maddison suddenly crops of with one his sicknotes, Diaby is not fit and Son is playing with injury atm. Only one Liverpool for that fixture run, I wouldn't try that. Liverpool won't get Red cards in half their games, and look at how they have done so far..

Many cheaper options matching and outscoring him. I don't have him, need him, or want him, and my rank is glorious.

So I’m at 4M rank (up from 5.5m in the last few weeks) so just rolling the dice with haaland out. I get to have TAA (from gw9) Trippier & Watkins and a playing bench which I’m happy with just now. It could go dramatically tits up and if I was not so low in rank I’d probably be thinking differently. I think all the points you make are very fair ones and the test will be sticking with this when haaland gets his hauls (which he will) and Salah blanks the same week which is definitely feasible.

(Don’t linch me if he gets a brace vs Arsenal and I take a -12 to bring him bs k though!)

Same here. I'd rather be 4M OR knowing I've tried to do something different, than 1.5M with Haaland following the herd trying to make up ground with going Diaby over Neto.

I had Salah, Son and Haaland.

Trippier still screwed me up 🙂

So now I still have Salah and Son less Haaland plus Trippier and more.

if you really think Trippier is going to keep up that rate...he's a defender on set pieces who will not get that many clean sheets anymore and has had his best fixtures already.

You know there's only 40pts between 4m & 1m OR though, right? Its still very early to go into "chasing mode". I sympathise because I did almost exactly this last season - e.g. looked for every half opportunity to captain someone other than Haaland and even benched him a few times. I understand the feeling well, but just be careful you don't start digging yourself even deeper

Huge? I can't see the great upside in waiting personally. Most Gw10 wildcards will look like a Gw8 wildcard + one or two bandwagons. Difference being Gw10 wildcard will be far more expensive to get to

Disagree. The teams who have fixtures swings are better than the ones that do now. Good luck getting to Arsenal, Brighton and even Pool. There are more gains to be made imo. Plus it's not all about Salah. Mid priced players are matching him for less. Also people who load up on west ham and Villa now potentially miss Diaby and they play each other next gw. We shall see I guess
