Need a midfielder 6,3 or below. Any suggestion? Currently considering JWP, Gordon and March.

All good choices. Neto is also worth considering

D.Luiz had returned in all 3 of villas home games, 3 of villas next 3 are at home, he’s on pens. Also on 4 yellows, a good option for me

Which one makes more sense in GW10 (barring injuries):

    A) Son>Saka
    B) Maddison>Martinelli

What’s your logic for this? I think Madders to Saka is a no brainer if you can afford it but very surprised people are going A over B here ..

Personally I think Maddison is a better hold given he has more avenues to points and is the one that makes the Spurs attack click (just look at their goals v Arsenal and Luton). Question marks over Son's fitness is a big issue for me too

Son is currently outperforming Maddison for both expected goals and expected assists. I also would not be surprised to see Martinelli run Saka very close for points now he is back fit - particularly as not at all clear Saka is on pens anymore.

            Son + Saka
            Son + Martinelli
            Maddison + Saka
            Maddison + Martinelli

Imo that’s the order of preference.

Not quite correct. Son xA 1.72, Maddison 3.01. Maddison is actually ahead of Salah for xA & chances created (2nd to Bruno for xA, 2nd to Trippier for CC)

Is it worth selling Isak to get Darwin for the Forest + Luton games?

Or focus on Mbuemo > Diaby and Chilwell > Cash for their Luton + Forest games?

Keeping Isak and doing Wissa > Darwin requires either a hit or for free I need to miss out on Cash/Diaby for those nice fixtures and downgrade Onana > Areola to raise funds.

    1. Holmes
      • 12 Years

You might have to do Mbeumo move first depending on how they play vs Burnley. Chilwell is perma-crocked I guess, so he needs to be replaced as well.

Mbuemo > Diaby is a perfect move for me, just doesn’t raise any funds the only negative. Diaby more valuable than Darwin for those fixtures?

I have 4 other starting defenders so Chilwell can wait another couple of weeks.

I don't think so. Expect goals between City and Liverpool and Spurs and Villa so attackers all the way, won't be benching any I have. Newcastle v Cheleea probably going to be tight enough but would expect Newcastle to have too much for Chelsea

If Robbo is out for 4 GWs:

Extremely difficult decision imo. Son's fitness concerns & the GW9-11 fixtures not really suiting his style make short-term selling kind of reasonable but I think he's the standout captaincy option in GW13 (and possibly 12 too). So if you picked him up at 9m do you really want to sell/rebuy in this timeframe? Maddison is incredible value and I believe he's capable of a 200pt season if he can stay fit. So I'm really not keen on selling either myself & looking for ways to fit the rest around them, even if it means only one of Salah/Saka at any one time

      1. Nate(U)dog(ie)
        • 5 Years

The price point thing is my biggest issue with selling Son especially as I got him at 9.1m (and given my squad is stretched very thin for funds with him and Salah, Saka and Haaland). Feel the same way about GWs 12+13 too, they're excellent fixtures for him in particular

Current team ok for this week?

    Areola
    Trippier Cash Porro
    Diaby Diaz Son Maddison
    Haaland Watkins Alvarez

    Subs: Johnstone, Andersen, Taylor, Neto

    1. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

A WHU CS at Villa would astound me, and I reckon there's a reasonable chance they concede 3-4, whereas Palace should keep things reasonably tight. So Johnstone over Areola for me.

Not sure why Neto is last bench; I would start him over Diaz - 90mins v Bournemouth better than 30mins v Everton

I think having a decent bench will help you to avoid making less emergency transfers and hoping for those 4.0''s or 3.9's getting points from the bench so the team you have here looks ok even though the midfield is a bit thin.

    5. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years

Bit light in the middle for my taste. Nowhere else to go with Soucek/Palmer. Would prefer a structure that allows for 2x 8m(ish) mids, or at the very least 2x 6.5m

        Exactly this.
I'm also considering the above squad but with Saka/Archer instead of Palmer/Watkins

Yes too much in defence. If you're not playing 4-4-2 then downgrade one of them, use the funds to get a better 4th MID.

No Saka of course, which is risky but I'd imagine something you've already thought around and the you've consciously gone without. I'd say keep a path to getting him back in mind. You don't HAVE to bank the funds to do so, but may WANT to.

Looks like very decent 4-3-3, but I would downgrade either Soucek or probably Palmer to 4.4, let's say Nakamba. Soucek could rotate with 4th def depending on fixtures. Decent chance that Alvarez and Watkins both overscore Saka. We can't have them all.
