    Which option is better?

    1) Burn + Madders to Gabriel + Saka
    2) Burn + Son to Gabriel + Saka, then use the additional money to upgrade midfield fodder (Chukwu) to Palmer or Gordon for flexibility to play 3-5-2?

    Neto // Turner
    Tripps Burn Udogie Cash // Kabore
    Salah Son Madders JWP // Chukwu
    Haaland Watkins // Archer

    "If Jesus is out for a period, that completely kills the appeal of Martinelli for me."

    Feels like a drastic statement... is there any analysis/data to back this up?

      I'm pretty sure if you compare his returns / stats with Jesus / Nketiah there'd be a substantial difference. In essence, Jesus creates central spaces for Martinelli to attack & whereas Nketiah hogs the traditional no9 spaces (and often ignores Martinelli)

        I quickly combed the stats in FPL, re xG/xA + xGi ... I don't see a noticeable difference between games that Jesus started up top vs. Nketiah, but admittedly I haven't watched all the Gunner games in full. Maybe there's a more compelling story, to the point made by Mentaculus that "Jesus creates central spaces for Martinelli to attack..."

        Less about Arsenal lineup, and moreso about the upcoming fixtures... in particular all the talk about how vulnerable Sheffield United are along the right hand side... I would hope that Martinelli could capitalize all on his own in that regard. High likelihood of attacking returns, either feeding Nketiah/other or attacking the box himself...

        Just seems like a fixture run that you can't ignore, and the appeal of the GW10 clash against SU looks too good.

          Check Martinelli's stats last season with Jesus and with Nketiah and come back telling them. Thank You.

            took a quick glance at last season GW 1-16, basically through the New Years Fixtures... results are mixed and inferences are unclear, because most of the data is based on Jesus and Martinelli playing together for majority of the match, with Nketiah coming on as a late second-half sub. Arsenal were flying in the first half of the season, but Martinelli xG and xA were up and down.

            For the Boxing Day and New Years Eve games (GW 17 & 18), against West Ham and Brighton respectively, Nketiah started up top with Martinelli on the left in both of those games. Martinelli scored in both matches, xG of .1 and .5 respectively.

            GW 19 - 23/24/25 also get interesting, as Trossard occasionally rotates in to start up top. Again Martinelli mixed bag of results in terms of Shots and xG and xA.

    A) Trips + Diaby + Archer -----> Watkins + Adingra + Gabriel (-4)
    B) Son + L.Diaz ------> Saka + Bowen
    C) L.Diaz + Almiron -------> Saka + Adingra

    No Haaland:

    1/ Trippier, Cash, Gabriel
    Salah, Saka, Son, Bowen, Palmer
    Watkins, Darwin, Alvarez

    Haaland team

    2/ Cash, Gabriel, Tsmikas
    Salah, Saka, Mitoma, Gordon, Palmer
    Haaland, Watkins, Archer.

    What do you prefer??

      I'm a staunch Haaland owner who was quite critical of most ditching him but I'm starting to concede that as long as Alvarez is keeping pace with him there's no need to have him, particularly while others are scoring so many points. 1 looks a lot better than 2 although i'm not a huge Darwin fan.

        What about Callum Wilson (7.8m) as an alternative to Darwin? Has scored in every game where he started and Newcastle's regular prem striker since Isak will be playing Champions' League.

      1 does look better but i am questioning all the moves back again, in 6 GW's

      Is Watkins over the next 3 more essential than Haaland? Or is it Diabys turn?

      Or does Haaland smash the next two games or struggle like has done in the past three.

      I have tried to change to a 3-4-3 and with Haaland and i dont like it. Gordon/Palmers fixtures are not great, but great value assets

    I think it's time I escaped the Haaland is unsellable mindset. The more I analyse things the more its making mathematical sense to go without him.

    I still have a good team with both Salah and Haaland but we have reached a crossroads were there are just so many great options, good players in form, playing for teams in good form and have great fixtures and playing around with my team its apparant that I have to go without so many of them if Im to keep Haaland.

    Cant have Saka unless I sell Son and still wouldn't be able to have Watkins, Bowen or another Arsenal mid. Square pegs into round holes. Just not comfortable with having to omit so many good players. I was kind of hoping Son and Maddison were going to have average games against Fulham to make switches to Saka and Mitoma a bit more palatable but they continue to look like must holds despite arguably less than favourable fixtures.

    Removing Haaland for Watkins and Neto for Saka with still money left to add Bowen or another Arsenal mid solves so many problems.

      Great post. I think a lot of us are in this position. The contortions I’m thinking of to get Salah in are mad - I think there are a set of fanatstic picks and we can’t have them, but without Haaland we could all the rest. For me the issue is to have an easy path back planned out. Some of the No Haaland Content Creators have spread the money so widely that they have 7m+ on the bench.

        I have always maintained that the premium players are over priced. Yes we know how good they can be but when you really drill into points per million in comparison to the next tier of players down, they are not good value. The only way you can exploit value from them is with the captaincy but of course you can only captain one player so therefore you only really need one premium player in your team providing you are going to captain them most weeks.

        I know we are only 9 games in. You could argue that its a small sample size but there are currently 3 players who have scored more points than Haaland and right now at least for the next 5 or so fixtures, Salah is looking like the best premium to own.

        Yes value players have emerged which has enabled me to have both Salah and Haaland and still have a good team. However as per my original point, the fixture swing we have now is a problem.

        I also did wonder if City and Haaland were going to be as good this season. I know they have always had a good squad but I can't believe that losing players of the calibre of Mahrez, Gundogan and De Bruyne can not have an impact. They are actually only 9th best in the league for xG

          I think you’re right. I had a nightmare and rage wildcarded early. So I can get to Salah, but going no Haaland would mean some hits and so I’m not doing it. If i was on a wildcard now, I’d be very tempted to…
