FFS Mini-Leagues & Community Competitions – Gameweek 9

Welcome to the Fantasy Football Scout mini-leagues and community competitions roundup after a high-scoring Gameweek 9, with Haaland-less squads becoming increasingly popular and one of our members now at the game’s very top.

As well as the mini-leagues, we report on the latest news about community Head-to-Head Leagues and Last Man Standing. Strikers Keepers Losers Weepers will be covered in a separate series of articles.

FFSCOUT COMMUNITY MEMBERS LEAGUE

Mohamed Malik Mami leads for a third week in our Fantasy Football Scout Members mini-league, which is open to anyone who has an FFS account, the league code being visible in the SCOUT LEAGUES widget on the signed-in FFS Home Page.

TOP OF THE WORLD

Sticking with Mohamed, he used a Gameweek 7 Wildcard. With Jarrod Bowen (£7.4m) as captain, his new Haaland-less troops scored 107 and rose from 12k to 66th overall. In Gameweek 9, he captained Son Heung-min (£9.5m) and bagged another century, with five players hauling and only Destiny Udogie (£4.9m) scoring less than six.

He is now number one in the world, sitting a single point ahead of his nearest rival.

Going without Erling Haaland (£14.0m), as suggested in asquishypotato’s hot topic last month, is catching on. Only 24 of the current top 50 still own him.

FFSCOUT OPEN-TO-ALL LEAGUE

Mike Arrigan sets the pace for a fifth week in our Fantasy Football Scout mini-league (league code 5k0l6n) and is now 77th overall.

Prizes will be awarded to the top ten FFS registered teams at the end of the season – see this article for full details.

HEAD-TO-HEAD COMMUNITY MINI-LEAGUES

Qian Hao Ong leads for a third successive week and fourth time this season in League 1 of MIR’s FFS Head-to-Head Leagues. 24 points out of a possible 27 have been accumulated.

Matt Cherng in League 5 Division 1 has the maximum 27 points after nine straight wins and so have two managers in League 6, one in League 7, two in League 8 and 17 in League 9. The latter includes Division 234’s freakishly over-performing Mr Average – are the other teams losing to him on purpose?!?!

Lord’s monthly round-up gave a more detailed report on how the Head-to-Head Leagues stood after Gameweek 8.

LAST MAN STANDING

The safety score for Gameweek 9 in TorresMagic’s Last Man Standing competition (LMS, league code x9free) was 71 after hits, with 95 teams to be removed.

It means that 1,109 are going through to Gameweek 10. The LMS leaderboard shows the current live safety score, leaders and teams in danger of being eliminated. New entrants must have passed all the previous safety scores after hits.

Qasim Ahmadi and the manager formerly known as Green & Gold were the week’s top scorers. Both captained Mohamed Salah (£12.8m) in their Haaland-less squads and the latter played his Bench Boost.

MODS & CONS

The top spot has changed again, with Kiran Parmar (FPL Brains) taking over from Geoff Dance in the FFScout Mods & Cons mini-league. He previously led after Gameweek 7.

FFSCOUT FAMILY

And J Martin (Pilot Flame) has regained the lead from Geoff in the FFScout Family mini-league, having previously been in front after Gameweeks 1 and 2.

TOP 10K ANY SEASON

Meanwhile, Kevin Prendergast is ahead for a fourth week in my Top 10k Any Season mini-league (league code x8qf0d). He is 720th globally.

This league is for teams with at least one previous finish inside the top 10,000.

MULTIPLE TOP 10K FINISHES

Nick Warner is the new leader of my Multiple Top 10k Finishes mini-league (league code 4y0ws3) and has risen to 2,527th overall. He has had four top 8k finishes and sits 51st in our FFS Live Hall of Fame.

This league is for teams with at least two previous finishes inside the top 10,000.

TOP 1K ANY SEASON

It’s three weeks on top for J Fish in PDM’s Top 1k Any season mini-league (league code oymggk), now 8,729th overall.

MULTIPLE TOP 1K FINISHES

David Meechan leads for a second week in Chaballer’s Multiple Top 1k Finishes mini-league (league code xz4wet).

TOP 100 ANY SEASON

Elsewhere, Cameron Wong is ahead for a fifth week in Livinginapool’s Top 100 Any Season mini-league (league code mq8lpy).

FPL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

2019/20 FPL Champion Joshua Bull has switched places with Jamie Pigott in Simon March’s FPL Champions League, having previously led after Gameweek 7.

HALL OF FAME TOP 1K

John Walsh leads for a third week in Chaballer’s Hall of Fame Top 1k mini-league (league code xbert7).

FPL VETS

Gary Kerr is still number one in Skooldaze’s FPL Vets 2006 or before mini-league. 8,334th overall, Gary has been in front after every round except Gameweeks 4 and 7.

OPENING DAY LEAGUE

Jared Hughes is the new leader of my Opening Day League and is up to 4,196th of all players.

BEAT THE FFSCOUT/PFT XI

Adam Shipway leads for a third week in the Beat the FFScout/PFT XI mini-league (league code 65xmu5). The Scout community team (Scout PFT) has slipped to joint 72nd.

HALL OF SHAME TOURNEY

Finally, William Fortescue is the new pace-setter of The Knights Template’s Hall of Shame Tourney (league code b84jwh) and has shot up to 907th overall thanks to no Haaland and captain Salah. There were also hauls for Son, Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m), Ollie Watkins (£8.3m), Diogo Dalot (£4.9m) and Kieran Trippier (£7.0m).

He shamefully finished outside the top six million last season – but that was his first one.

The FFS Live Hall of Fame (which, unlike the FFS Career Hall of Fame, can only be viewed by Premium Members) has been updated again this morning (Thursday 26th October) and is now based on results up to and including Gameweek 9.
50,771 managers participating in the Fantasy Football Scout and Fantasy Football Scout Members mini-leagues are now ranked.
The new top ten, with FFS Career Hall of Fame positions in brackets, is:

    1(5) Mark Hurst.
    2(1) Finn Sollie.
    3(3) Jon Ballantyne.
    4(2) Fábio Borges.
    5(14) Tom Dollimore.
    6(26) John Walsh.
    7(6) Jon Corke.
    8(16) Frank Pedersen.
    9(15) Jan Kępski.
    10(7) Conor’s Team.

There have been some dramatic changes since the previous update, which was after Gameweek 6:
Mark Hurst has overtaken Finn Sollie and Fábio Borges to become the new Hall of Fame leader.
John Walsh and Jon Corke are up four and two places respectively, while Conor’s Team is down five.
And there are three new entries, with Tom Dollimore, Frank Pedersen and Jan Kępski coming in and Markku Ojala, John Canning and Rob Mayes dropping out.

Mark Hurst (who came 65th in 2012/13 and has had two more top 600 finishes and five more top 8k finishes in the last eight seasons) still has the highest overall rank and is now up to 2,943rd, but three of the ten are still outside the top million.

Tom Dollimore has had two top 400 finishes and one top 4k finish in the last four seasons.
Frank Pedersen came 655th in 2021/22 and has also had three more top 8k finishes.
And Jan Kępski has had three top thousand finishes in the last four seasons.

Of the other leaders mentioned in the article, Qian Hao Ong is now 135th in the FFS Live Hall of Fame, Nick Warner 24th, David Meechan 245th, Cameron Wong 694th and Gary Kerr 922nd.

*Mark Hurst (2,943rd) is the only one of the ten who is currently in the overall top 10k.
