Hi all, luxury of 2 free transfers for the first time this season. Best move to consider early on?

    A) Bowen + Son —> Saka + Mbeumo (2 FT)
    B) Bowen + Alvarez —> Saka + João Pedro (2 FT)
    C) Bowen —> Mbeumo (FT)

    Areola
    Trippier - Cash - Tsimikas
    Salah - Son - Gordon - Bowen**
    Haaland - Darwin - Alvarez

    (Turner) (Taylor - Laymptey - Anderson**) - 2 FT - 0.2 ITB

    Cheers!

Fair way off but I'd start getting some plans in place for 18 if you do go for Mbuemo with Haaland and Alvarez too. Presumably you plan to ditch Alvarez in the coming weeks or potentially free hitting 18?

Dropping Bowen and Alvarez makes sense.

But there are so many other and better options than Saka and João Pedro.

Yeah I'm not sure the Fati injury is all that much of a boost to Pedro since Lallana seems to have worked his way back into favour. Still expect plenty of rotation

I had a similar situation and I brought Mbeumo in for a benchwarming midfielder, and dropped Alvares for Archer who will sit as first sub moving me back to a 3:5:2 formation.

Lost my patience with Martinelli, have 1 ft & 1.2 m itb - will wait to the champions league games have finished but Martinelli to Saka for free gives me this.

    Areola
    Gabriel Taylor Tsimi
    Salah Son Saka Mbeumo
    Haaland Darwin Alvarez

    Turner Cash Guehi Nakamba

The Chris Wood short-term punt (not one I made), based on what I saw yesterday and thoughts prior to the game, they'll sign somebody in January up front. Could be the difference between being in a relegation struggle and not, they won't take any chances.

lots of things annoy me about pep but him going around to players on opposing teams telling them they played a great game and and pretty much ruffling their heads like dogs..whose a good boy whose a good boy? you are!!!.... is right up there. he's even prone to giving advice as nathan redmond will testify to. im glad darwin told him to do one. just go away and let them enjoy the moment you odd little man.

I can do as you are now dependent on mood and affiliation. I am trying to learn to stop this but it is hard.

Do you think it might shift people more towards 4-3-3? The overwhelming argument before for 3-5-2 was the abundance of nice midfield options but if that pool is much smaller things could change?

I still find it easier to fill 5 mids spots than 3 forwards at the moment. Around GW18-20 (when Watkins fixtures turn again & we're flush with funds as Salah & Son leave) I'll likely upgrade my 3rd forward spot but for now the main candidates for me would be Ferguson/Isak, maybe Nkunku when fit, and I just don't feel like they're reliable for weekly starts.

My midfield has become fairly template (Salah Son Diaby Eze Gordon) & I do want Mbeumo, but might think about Bernardo/Doku as a differential since I'm not too sure about Saka/Palmer right now

If you sold Haaland, you could easily "find" and afford three decent attackers.

Watkins, Darwin, Jesus, Isak and maybe soon Nkunku, Toney and even Hojlund.

Yeah it's getting kind of dull for me. At one stage I had a lot of differentials but it feels like I've just got such a template team now. Looking at the difference in ownership of players like Andersen now and Udogie after a few weeks compared to GW1 is bonkers to me. Tempted to just take a few punts in future weeks including a few hits instead of my planned moves just for some change. Never felt comfortable when my team is so similar to everyone else

What do we reckon the personal comment was Dunk made about Anthony Taylor that landed him a 3 match ban? I suppose there could be scope for it to be increased depending on what it was. From one follicly challenged male to another I'm pretty sure I've got a good idea. I'm all for it if it is consistently applied, far too much abuse for refs, should be more like the rugby.

glad they are clamping down on this. its a joke. referees getting dogs abuse as far down as under 5 games from parents and it goes right the way up. the message is these people dont know what they are doing and deserve all the insults thrown at them when the actual reality is most of them are competant at what they do.

recency bias be damned but this is one of the worst standards ive seen to the start of a prem league season and it will only get worse with all these injuries. even goalies pulling hammys now. any of the top 4 now could win it unless one of them kicks on. but they all seem pretty mediocre right now and that city- pool game was a good illustration of that.

He's a hold. No better options and he's still a starting forward for City on corners and fks. Good fixtures for the long term and then just bench him for GW18. Villa have poor fixtures so don't want Watkins, Newcastle's fixture congestion puts me off Isak, don't want rotation risks like Darwin/Ferguson and Solanke over a City player? no thanks.

Alvarez and Trippier look the obvious ones to make way to me. Trippier would be reluctant but he's hard to justify at the moment, in fact any defenders costing more than 5m are hard to justify with no clean sheets happening

You make an interesting point. I feel like Saka can improve now with Odegaard and Jesus back but equally there are better value options

With 5 players and captain at 2pm totally preapred for a 1-1 Tielemans and Bentancur unassisted goals.

If you watch Blacbox Az actually predicted a Tavinier brace, its quite spooky.

Saka is now shooting less than once a game over the last 6 gameweeks. Over 105 minutes for minutes per shot.

If you don't shoot, you don't score. Simples.

2 months without a PL goal for £8.7m Saka, tried to educate a numpty earlier. He is consistent at that price but Neto is consistent too. Cheap midfielders getting the job done.

      Saka ain’t essential.

I was looking at Saka over Son (have *Bowen/Salah/Mbueno/Diaby/Gordon) but this has got me thinking, Son is more explosive but with tough fixtures whereas Saka has better fixtures, but lower goals return and a high EO, money not a major issue for me

Gordon has 52 FPL points at home; 17 in away games (minutes per FPL point away 24.1; home 10.9). I'd look to start Gordon in every home game.

HB is out till the New Year, that’s a bit away away so plenty of time to asses as that changes.
