Just had a look at the stats for captaincy.

Fulham by far a worse defence away from home than Spurs.

Liverpool by far a better attack than City at home.

Salah's stats are by far better than Haaland's at home.

6 game sample size. Not great but enough to carry some weight.

I had pencilled in Salah until I saw Spurs' high line again.

The sample size is even smaller really as you can't treat VDV/Romero Spurs the same as Emerson/Davies Spurs.

Fulham's away games have been really tough for defence too - mci, ars, tot, avl, bha. The return of Palhinha should shore things up a bit although I guess they're not really as solid as last season generally.

It is a close decision especially with Salah's home record but I'm leaning Haaland atm and want as many attackers as I can get for that game since I'm confident Ange will go at them

Haaland's played 2 top 4 sides compared to Liverpool's 0, and missed the second half against Bournemouth, and is still only 0.4 NPxG behind Salah, so say his stats are "far worse" is very misleading.

I'd be a lot more comfortable about Tottenham's defense if Van de Ven was available to help mark Haaland.

Easy Haaland choice for me personally, can't underestimate the significance of City playing a side that will play as high and as attacking as Spurs will. Haaland has excelled over the years in games where he can get a run on the last man or where his side can play on the break. Not saying Salah isn't a good choice either of course but not a chance I'm picking him over Haaland. I'd genuinely consider TCing him if it wasn't so early in the season

Still think FH38 is something worth considering. A notoriously high scoring week whereby we should have access to all team sheets before the deadline whilst everyone else has used the chip is quite powerful.

Having access to all team sheets may sound great but is it really? If you find out team sheets it would likely be close to deadline and not enough time to change your team around if you find out players are benched who you already have in your team.

Most lineups last season where leaked with a decent amount to go. I remember thinking to myself to consider FH38 as I had enough time to come up with a one week draft.

Its a nice option if you don't need it earlier. I'll probably play it in a BGW but I'm conscious that I really screwed up on the final day of last season - partly down a deluded gamble on Leeds, but it did feel like I needed (wanted) to take a lot of hits

We may not need it earlier this year as disruption for fixtures won't be as bad as previous seasons. It's an option, one I'd like to follow through but probably won't be patient enough!

Interesting opinions on Arsenal from Carragher and Neville.

It's clear Arsenal have more control and improved defensively but how much has that impacted their attack?

    - Slower in attack?
    - Form in key attacking players in Ode hasnt helped.
    - WF are wide and isolated with lack of support from FBs and 8s.
    - injuries to key attacking players

What are folks thoughts on Arsenal?

24% drop in NPxG this season.

Arsenal sit 11th for NPxG this season. Last season, they were 3rd behind City and Liverpool.

        Arsenal NPxG per 90:
        22-23: 1.82
        23-24: 1.39

          Thanks for the stats.

I think some may put it down to injuries but I think Xhaka has been a miss for them in terms of transitioning defence into attack. Saka aside, I have no interest in their attacking options.

I think Saka could be a questionable pick. Certainly not ruling out selling him IF I have a luxury transfer. Cheaper alternatives available which can help improve other areas like defence and 3rd FWD spot

I don't agree at all that they look "far more likely to win the league than last year"; I'm sticking to my prediction of City & Pool as top 2, and wouldn't be too surprised to see them slip below Newcastle.

I had chalked up the FPL underperformance of Saka/Martinelli to Jesus' absence but I think the issues are wider than that, and encompass the void left by Xhaka, with neither Havertz nor Vieira looking quite right in the left 8 role. Steering clear of their attack for now; only own Raya.

Would prefer to lose Diaby (I rage sold for Mbeumo on Sunday), but suspect you might be forced to sell Bowen.

Must admit I'm still a bit unsure on Chelsea so I'm waiting another 2-3 weeks before I decide on their attackers (think I might take a punt on Doku in the interim). Pretty happy Gordon owner here - not sure exactly when Barnes is due back though.

I brought in Darwin a few weeks ago. When you watch Liverpool you think this guy will score a couple of goals every game. But then there are the point blank misses or the slight offside goals. I love the potential and the number of chances he gets. But I think the jury is still out. And I'm a Liverpool fan.

He has outscored Alvarez since GW8 WC despite not starting two of the games. People bemoan the misses but he's still doing quite well, this is what is being missed. If he converts the chances he gets, he becomes an ELITE option.

He has taken 21 shots in the last 4 weeks. That's more than Watkins and Alvarez COMBINED. Yeah his finishing ain't the best, but with that volume of chances, he will get returns and the fixtures are turning as well.

*Since GW7 for missing 2 matches. But the point still holds. He's outscored Alvarez even while he's been 'wasteful'.

Hopeful for Palace. Not very reassuring though.

Does not sound very convincing that Bowen will start GW14.

He'd have been rested anyway. It's the weakest team in the group and they can do without him.

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but do we have any information on whether Bowen is likely to return this GW?

Wait for Thursday, Moyes probably has a presser for that today or tomorrow. If he's not in the squad for that game then I'm selling. Can't see him starting at the weekend (IF he's available, a big if) if he hasn't played a minute in 3 weeks by that point

He won't start Thursday even if he's fit, but bench minutes or a good verbal noises/training images are probably the best measure.

Is Bowen > Mbuemo to obvious? Feels a bit templatey.

I don't like to gamble against Haaland and Salah. Nor do I want to gamble against in form Mbeumo with plum fixtures. Had I started with Mbeumo over Martinelli I would probably be in top 50/100k now. Now is bad time to play against him.

I started with Mbeumo and he dried up massively

Is Salah(c) essential this week? I was going to bring him in as part of an elaborate mini-wildcard but now I'm not so sure? Happy with Haaland(c) to be honest.

I could do Ode>Mbuemo & Estu>Zinchenko instead? And still have 1.5m ITB? Then I don't have to play Gueh!

Or Alvarez to Darwin or perhaps to Archer and bring Mbuemo in back in a 3-5-2? Or just sit tight and move on Estupinan and re-assess next week being as Ode is at home? So much choice tying myself in knots...!

    Areola
    Schar Gabriel Guehi
    Son Saka Ode Bruno
    Haaland(c) Alvarez Watkins

    Turner Longstaff Estupinan Branthwaite

I think Salah is essential not because of this week but because of the upcoming run of games and the fact he's super nailed.

Bruno + Ode to Salah imo

That was my plan, with Estu out for a -4. Trouble is I'd bring in Nakamba and Baldock and have to play Longstaff this week before upgrading to Palmer next week with only 0.1 lewway at present..!

Livramento this week. How was he vs Chelsea? Think he carries on at left back, or will Hall get this one?

    I appreciate it's guesswork territory

Hard to tell. The lineup against PSG should give an indication. Hall may come in at left back tonight, but Livra might fill in elsewhere further up the pitch if Howe wants to have an attacking option off the bench.

Livra was good against Chelsea, but really noticeable that he had to check inside all the time on his right foot.

    Areola / Turner
Trippier, Gabriel, Zinch, Tsimi / Andersen
    Salah, Son, Mbeumo, Palmer/ Nakamba
    Haaland, Watkins / Nketiah*

    0 ft, 2.1 mitb

I'd really like to get Darwin, even for a hit and Saka is the template player I don't have. But getting Darwin means benching someone else, which I dislike. However, I am not certain that all my players are going to start (play?). Andersen is booked transfer out after Bou. Do I have to play dull and see Darwin haul without having him?

I don't know if taking a hit now and saving 1 ft counts 😉 but there is a possibility that it saves one hit later or allows me to avoid Haaland / Mbeumo in and out during bgw.

Nketiah - Darwin & play 343 seems pretty straightforward..? Yes you have a strong 1st sub in defence but nothing wrong with that & Arsenal have some tricky games coming up from a defensive POV

I have 6.3m to get a midfielder in, already have Douglas Luiz.
    Who is the best option:
    A) Gordon
    B) Ward-Prowse
    C) Hee-Chan
    D) other?

Click on your grav, then there should be an "edit profile" option on the top right hand corner of the screen. I think you can unsubscribe within the "account settings" option within there.

    Afternoon all,

    2 fts / 0.2 itb

    Aerola Turner
    Mitchell Gabriel Pau Tsimikas Taylor
    HeeChan Salah Saka Son Ahamada
    Haaland Alvarez Watkins

Any advice, considering getting rid of Son to free up some value but also could hold and move Alvarez after this gw?

Good to roll a transfer this week? Even if Bowen is out I'm not too worried, as I have Luiz coming on.
