Only getting 1 point off the bench but sounds like as a Salah vice captainer myself, the Haaland no show would still be a net positive.

Wilder playing Archer as a winger has revived him. No returns yet, but positive signs

We all assumed Sheffield United must have a championship quality squad minus their best assets last season, Sander Berge and Iliman Ndiaye. Can Wilder achieve more than the sum of his parts? You have to say yes, because he did that before in the John Lundstram season.

Suddenly they aren't the whipping boys anymore, yet they are still objectively one of the 5 worst teams in the league, the bottom 25%.

When choosing which ailing defence to target perhaps stats can be of help here.

City Arsenal Liverpool and Spurs could all score 4+ next week based on the recent performances of their opponents, from an eye test perspective.

Spurs away at Forest, Forest recently lost 0-5 to Fulham.

Arsenal vs Brighton, Brighton are without a clean sheet all season but also have scored in every game this season too, they won't sacrifice their principles just because it's Arsenal so that suggests goals.

Liverpool are playing Man Utd, who should be in the 2024 Dictionary under the word 'inconsistent'. Anything is possible here!

City are playing Palace, who look to be in middling form and Guardiola has thrown down the warning to his team to throw aside those treble winning hangovers and get back to business. Could they win 10 on the spin with a flourish? Easily.

interestingly tho Forest are much better at home and Palace are better away.

I think Arsenal were slightly better away and Brighton haven't kept one clean sheet yet.

It could all change again next week.

Trent looking worthy of the price tag but it’s hard to adjust funds without dropping a season keeper. Maybe in when Salah & Son are away in January unless there is some injuries unlocking the cash before

Playing around with what I can afford and stumbled upon this combination...

    Dubravka
    Tripper - Porro - Saliba
    Salah - Son - Bowen - Gordon - Palmer
    Haaland - Watkins

(Turner) (Semenyo - Branthwaite - Taylor)

Is this the best possible team at the moment? Shame I'm a -12 away... 😀

Agree. But Watkins has had a dip in form lately, and forwards like Solanke and Cunha are in form. One of them instead would free up cash to spend elsewhere, give the flexibility to change accourding to play form and fixtures and to differentiate

Tbh, I'd just find another route to Porro here

Watkins' last two blanks were against City and Arsenal, games which his team actually won... Before that, 3G 1A in 3 GWs

Add the standout captaincy in GW18 and Porro over Senesi doesn't seem worth the extra funds

Before Arsenal and City, Watkins was man of the match in the previous 3 games. It’s not a big surprise that he would fail to find the net in two hard fought matches against the two best sides

I’d still say Watkins is the second best striker after Haaland if you can afford him

I was planning to do Turner > Dubravka but I might have two playing GKs if Areola plays today. I was then thinking Alvarez > Solanke (0.1 short to get Watkins) but Haaland's rumoured injury has me questioning that. Or is Haaland only rumoured to be out for one week?

    Areola
    Trippier - Saliba - Tsimi
    Salah - Gordon - Bowen - Son - Palmer
    Haaland - Alvarez

    Turner - Taylor - Archer - Baldock

    (1FT, 1.0 itb)
    Johnstone* (Turner)
    Trippier/Porro/Tsimikas (Kabore, Taylor*)
    Salah/Son*/Martinelli/Gordon/Palmer
    Haaland/Isak (Osula)

yes Salah and Son are available to play in 20 then would potentially miss 21-24 and potentially a doubt for 25 of they both reach their respective finals.

Nah 20 now as DGW20 is almost certainly not happening and the reason 19 was touted was to allow TC Haaland to still be an option in that eventuality.

Ben Crellin posted yesterday evening he still expects the double to come between 21-25, which surprised me if I'm honest. I thought there was limited midweek windows and typically that would put the likelihood into the 31/34/37 scheme of shenanigans.

Ben Crellin researches this stuff though, so for now I'll be certainly getting 3 City assets on my GW20 WC.

    GW17: Guehi to Porro
    GW18: Tsimikas to Pau
    GW19: roll
    GW20: Lascelles to Konsa

    Dubravka
    Tsimikas Coufal Gabriel
    Salah Son Bowen Gordon Saka
    Haaland Watkins
    .
    Areola Archer Lascelles Guehi

Now, bring on the flags 😀

        1. _Greg
          • 15 Years
          1 year, 12 months ago

I'm just thinking we should perhaps start rotating our attackers based on form and fixtures rather than making defensive transfers moving forward, a novel and controversial idea I know.

          1. Ze_Austin
            • 7 Years
            1 year, 12 months ago

This is a plan based on the team I already have... That front 7 with Archer as a playing backup doesn't need transfer tinkering

While my defence has all sorts of messes with Botman returning soon to bump Lascelles out, Guehi's fixture list, and Tsimikas rotating

So I'm addressing three of those weaknesses in my side with free transfers... After which I'll have to address Salah and Son

Are you suggesting that I sell Bowen or someone from that front 7 to get a rotating eight attacker while ignoring Porro and Villa defence?

            1. _Greg
              • 15 Years
              1 year, 12 months ago

I'm saying if you have 5 playing defenders who are nailed then that's good enough.

After that the marginal gains you get from defender transfers will have limited upside.

I think Porro is quality and you should definitely get him. Villa defence...not fussed really. Two cleanies is game state dependent.

              1. Ze_Austin
                • 7 Years
                1 year, 12 months ago

Okay, so the three defenders I'm selling:

Guehi, horrible fixtures and form. Could have sold for a hit earlier, but didn't want the hit because defenders aren't reliable enough to repay -4

Lascelles, not nailed once Botman starts, selling when fixtures turn

Tsimikas, not nailed but I get one more good game (Man U) out of him before selling

                Going for three nailed defenders

This season has taught me that having the best attackers is more reliable than having the attackers with the best fixtures, as no defence has been watertight

I see your point for RMTs in general, but don't see how it applies as a problem here

Somebody booted him in the spine. A bruised spine is not really an injury, it just hurts. Son is captain, I think he will play through the pain barrier.

Dalot has to be the strangest price rise that I can remember in a long time. Obviously most FPL players are fickle and buy the players that did well last week. United have just been spanked 3-0 at home to Bournemouth, he's has had 3 blanks in a row and United go to Anfield next week. Anyone have an explanation?

Well, the threshold for risers is changed the day after a deadline. it's a complex algorithm no doubt, but they way it is now it's very, very difficult to triple rise in a week because the threshold gets steeper in each gameweek.

You should of been around in the early days, you had to wildcard gameweek 2 (when there was only 1 wildcard toi) to catch all the triple risers haha.

Enough people had bought him - before the Bournemouth game - to tip him over the threshold that he was already close to pre-deadline due to previous hauls

Everton win looks the most secure to me here. Think Spurs edge it marginally over a rotated/exhausted Newcastle. Not sure about FUL/WHU really; I've hedged it as 1-1

I asked FPL at the start of the season if they could do a second official game which was identical but unlimited transfers and no price rises.

They said they would pass the idea onto their creative team for review.

Probably just start him. We all need to calm down with defender transfers overall. Less clean sheets. Attacking upside transfers has to be the way forward.Or aiming to save a transfer every week in case of unexpected peril.

      Against Man U? Definitely starting

Selling for GW18 though, and I prefer Villa CBs to anybody from Chelsea... While Livramento's fixtures are a bit too short-term for me, but I see the appeal. Being pretty long-term with transfers because I'll need as many FTs as possible to navigate BGW18, AFCON + Asian Cup in GW21... And flags

          "LiveFPL

THE definitive site for live updates and rank analysis, LiveFPL was launched by the legendary Ragabolly several years back and is now an important part of the Scout Network. Whilst the great man will remain involved in supporting the site to ensure it’ll provide great functionality, he needs to take a back seat for personal reasons and so FFS will be stepping in ensure it keeps running and to help push the site forward. As the season goes on, we’ll also be working to integrate some features of LiveFPL into FFS as part of our new update members area (and vice versa)."

With Haaland likely out not just today but also against Palace and the blank there's now a strong advantage to hit wildcard now.

Especially if you couldn't afford the premium defenders...

to spread the released funds into your whole squad.

      Do you have yours still?

I think you're right - if Haaland is out then there's probably more advantage to spreading that cash on Trent/Trippier now rather than waiting for GW20 since the latter would now look like a fairly easy Salah & (?) - (?) & Haaland
